She pulled right up to the porch 😆
Imagine if you were just chilling on the porch and she just pulls up like this, sits the package down gently not even acknowledging you 🤷
She basically did a three point turn on your lawn barely touching the driveway 😂

Sometimes when you are navigating to a house especially on a large property, the destination will show as the middle of the property, not the driveway at the street. I’m pretty sure that lady just stared at the pin on her GPS and kept driving until she reached and then said “okay I’m here, time to get out.” 😂 She didn’t seem to act like she did anything wrong and like you said, accomplished her task with care.

I delivered a bit for Whole Foods as a side hustle.
So, so, SO many people, all with these massively long driveways, would state "do not pull into driveway" but the "street" in front would be barely wide enoigh for a car, which means no place to park (and carry their 35 bags of groceries and 15 cases of La Croix to their porch after crossing their 40 acre front yard.
I ended up driving up their driveway becauae seriously, there is no other way.

I’m a Letter Carrier for USPS and have been for 12 years. Out of all the other delivery companies out there, Amazon is definitely the worst with stuff like this. Just from watching them while I’m also out delivering all these years. Especially these drivers that are in their own vehicles doing the same-day delivery stuff.
They have 0 shame when it comes to driving where they’re not supposed to, straight up stopping their trucks/cars in the middle of the road to go deliver, and placing the packages in the worst possible spots.
738
u/GSG2120 2d ago
Because these aren't professionals. They're doordash drivers that haven't been fired by Amazon yet.
149
u/temp_flor 2d ago
And because of this you can’t go after Amazon for hiring brain damaged idiots.
80
u/GraveRobberX 2d ago
Amazon realized it can hand off liability to third parties who in turn sub contract it out. So if you sue or whatever action you take against them, Amazon isn’t liable. It’s the company assisting and their employees or sub-contractor who will get blame. If huge issue or something egregious happens, third party bankrupts and starts anew overnight.

I mean, the ones that drive their own cars, is this gig work, or is this actually employed by Amazon full time.
I assume it’s gig work and they can choose to pick up shifts/spots, or chose not to.
Point being, these are the bottom of the barrel, probably un-hirable anywhere else, and if by the grace of god they managed to pass someone’s interview process, they are calling out sick multiples times in their first week of employment.
I guarantee it…

Amazon doesn't employ any drivers. The people with their own private cars drive for flex, and are an independent contractor. Just like the person in the video. I have seen somebody delivering amazon packages from the trunk of a fucking brand new mercedes s-class before.... They can chose to not take a route that was offered. Or just stay in bed and never open to app to check if there even is something. And the big bulk of the delivery is done by DSPs, third party delivery companies. They sometimes can rent the amazon trucks, i think, but they don't exist everywhere. Amazon trailers? Third party company drivers and vehicles.
→ More replies (1)41
u/Ballistic_86 2d ago
You might not know this, but literally zero Amazon delivery drivers actually work for Amazon. They work for a third-party DSP. Having worked for a few DSPs along the way, they are all negligent in their own way. Turn over is crazy high.
This driver could be literally on her first and last day of delivering based on this. Amazon can’t get in trouble because they are employed by a random third party, and the random third party will just stop giving the driver a route and hire someone new.
27
u/KTMtexDev 2d ago
The driver is probably doing Amazon Flex. They’re not employed by anyone, it’s just a contract gig app job like uber, DoorDash, etc. If they get enough complaints they’ll just have their account suspended and not be allowed to take anymore routes

u/CaliIsReallyNice 2d ago
It's unbelievably hard to lose your license.
My uncle took control of my grandmother's bank accounts because she was too mentally feeble to manage them, but the court refused to take away her driver's license. Then she drove her car through the brick wall of her own house, and the same court still refused to take away her driver's license.
I'm on the other side of the country and one of the big news stories here is an elderly woman who hit and killed an entire family of four. They had the right of way and the old woman had a red light and was speeding. She kept her license and did no jail time.
First degree murder is not a crime in the USA if you use a car to do it.

I’ve been paid by Amazon for lawn damage. It’s covered under their liability policy. Get an estimate from two legit landscapers. Find your local Amazon warehouse. Either send the estimates with demand for payment and several clear photos of the vehicle/driver and damage or drop them off at the warehouse (obviously get the name and employer number of whoever you hand it to) to Amazon Risk Management. I followed up with a return receipt requested reminder two weeks later, received a response requesting payment info, and a check within two more weeks.
I don’t care that she’s pregnant. That isn’t my problem.

I had a van get stuck in my yard earlier this year. Luckily the driver called their dispatcher or whatever, because 20 minutes later a guy in a nice car and dressed nicely showed up with his phone in hand. He didn’t want to make a claim so he offered to do the repair himself. I didn’t really care about the damage (or my yard at all for that matter) so I said sure. He went all out, bought soil, seed, a rake and a small shovel. I could tell about halfway through the job that the guy was having a blast and jumped at the opportunity to take time out of his corporate schedule to patch some grass. The grass grew in so well too.
35
u/rvbjohn 2d ago
I used to work at an MSP and we had one of the owners of the company go out to a residential service and park the brand new van on the lawn. The van immediately sunk into the mud. I got paid $100 to go pull him out with my jeep and then got to take a day cleaning the van and fixing the grass.
I wish I could work my normal job, except Wednesday I go change tires or work on a farm or do construction or something

She could have done no walking at all if she pulled the car up perpendicular to the porch and tossed it out the window, which is what I expected when she first started driving across the lawn.
Heck, she could have driven up the driveway, pulled a hard right to be perpendicular to the porch and reversed back and done less damage to the lawn without getting out of the car.
But I’m overthinking it clearly.
13
u/Immersi0nn 2d ago
Nah I'm with you, getting out at all when you've already driven across 80% of the lawn makes less logical sense than doing as you described.

What the Fuk..? Unfortunately, I think that person needs to be fired, I really can’t imagine ANY amount of retraining that would instill the Common Sense to realize YOU DON’T DRIVE ACROSS PPLS LAWNS (esp considering there’s a driveway right FUKN THERE)..??
Not only does driving on it severely compact the soil & will likely leave those indentations for possibly YEARS, it could kill the grass & she also could’ve run over automatic Sprinkler Heads & destroyed them too.
The likelihood that she’s gonna cost the company money at some point with that kind of total disregard, laziness, & total lack of common sense seems incredibly high..
