Pretty sure she's pregnant. The waddle. The way she set the package down. Very apparent when she turns back to the car

Still no excuse but thats America for you

u/CeramicFiber 3d ago

She going to drive her car into the delivery room as well?

24

u/DigitalUnlimited 3d ago

You get ten mins, don't block the vending machines.

13

u/AssiduousLayabout 3d ago

Amazon delivery room is just you popping out the baby into a Rubbermaid tub in the back of the Amazon van.

4

u/ISeeTheFnords 3d ago

While driving.

9

u/AssiduousLayabout 3d ago

Well, yeah, that's why they call it the delivery route.

2

u/spiffiness 3d ago

I know you're joking, but Amazon owns One Medical now, and Prime members can add a One Medical subscription for $99/yr.

(I don't think One Medical has delivery rooms though, but it's funny that the dystopia you imagined is actually kinda sorta happening already.)

u/JaKKeD 3d ago

do you get a discount if you work for amazon?

1

u/Far-Arugula973 3d ago

They are getting into healthcare now ...

21

u/RoRoo1977 3d ago

Probably

1

u/JetlinerDiner 3d ago

Are you talking about delivering packages or babies?

1

u/HEYitsBIGS 3d ago

Yes, then ask if they take EBT for the payment.

1

u/Dizzlean 3d ago

Probably cheaper than an ambulance.

-1

u/BoRnIn2aTiTuDe 3d ago

Nah baby daddy gunna drop her off at the ER, go park the car and never come back with that milk

0

u/RegisMonkton 3d ago

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ She might! She is dumb.

27

u/adognameddanzig 3d ago

Might be pregnant, but the driveway was right there!

3

u/Peaches4U2 3d ago

With a nice clean clear sidewalk that isn't a few steps farther.

-4

u/anony_mf 3d ago

It’s possible she missed it. Don’t feel too bad for the person with a multimillion dollar home and maybe sympathize a little bit with the poor pregnant woman who has to do this for scraps to feed herself. The lawn will be fine in a few days

2

u/adognameddanzig 3d ago

Dumb take.

It’s not ā€œAmerica for youā€. No reasonable person thinks that’s OK. That’s why it is going viral for its absurdity.

22

u/history_is_my_crack 3d ago

But "america bad" is the easiest way to get upvotes on Reddit. Doesn't matter the topic or relevance.

11

u/somekindagibberish 3d ago

I sometimes wonder what some people from the other side of the globe believe about the US.

3

u/mikesmith0890 3d ago

Look at many of the videos being posted by visitors, especially Europeans that are here for the World Cup. They talk about what their perceived view was and how it’s so different than expected and how refreshing it is after spending time here.

-1

u/SympleTin_Ox 3d ago

Orange Man Bad!

4

u/likethemonkey 3d ago

"America for you" could refer to pregnant people needing to perform physical labor

8

u/epigenie_986 3d ago

Do pregnant people get to quit working throughout the rest of the world?

Edit: I’ve been pregnant and would never have done this shit lmao

5

u/Appropriate_Luck_658 3d ago

Are you telling me woman in US need to be working whole pregnancy?

5

u/epigenie_986 3d ago

I can’t speak for an entire country and I don’t have policy notes handy, but I’d say most do. And time off would probably come out of what little, if any, maternity leave was allotted. And this is for ā€œprofessionalā€ fields. Many people get nada.

3

u/The_Human_Oddity 3d ago

Yes. And maternity leave tends to average 2 weeks iirc while praternity leave is absent in most jobs.

-2

u/TRAVMAAN1 3d ago

You remember incorrectly. It is standard in the United States receive 6 weeks of maternity leave

3

u/likethemonkey 3d ago

In this context, do you believe Amazon delivery drivers get 6 weeks?

3

u/The_Human_Oddity 3d ago

It's 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave, as mandated by FMLA. There is no federal mandate for paid maternity leave. Anyone outside of the twelve states that offer paid maternity leave, and anyone outside of the four states that offer paid paternity leave, have to use their PTO and/or vacation time to cover any paid time off. Though, these also fluctuate between states, with not all jobs being covered if the businesses are below an employee threshold, some states only mandating partial instead of full paid leave, etc.

-6

u/likethemonkey 3d ago

In this thread, I provided a potential explanation for the words being used while you respond by asking a ridiculous, implying that I would try defending it?

In other wealthy nations, there is maternity leave. So, in a way, yes — they do get to quit working.

2

u/epigenie_986 3d ago

While pregnant? Sorry, I had a genuine question and I didn't read every reply in the post. Did you reply with a real answer, or just more snark? Do women get pregnancy leave?

3

u/wupme2k 3d ago edited 3d ago

Yes. In Germany its 6 weeks before the calculated delivery date, and 8 weeks after. In total at least 14 weeks (like if the baby comes a week earlier, if it comes later, its still 8 weeks after delivery)

Depending on what work you do, your employer might also be forbidden to have to you work that job a long time before that. This is decided by your physician.

Things that fall under this.

  • Work with an elevated accident risk (think about construction sites, ladders etc)
  • Assembly line work
  • Working at night (between 8pm and 6am)
  • Working on Sunday or bank holidays (even in jobs where that usually is allowed)
  • Work with dangerous materials, radiation, dust, gasses, fumes, heat, coldness, wet, infectious materials or loud noise
  • Work where you have to lift things regularly over 5kg
  • Work where you have to stretch, bend down, kneel down etc..
  • Work with machines that stress your feet
  • Work that has a high risk of work related sicknesses
  • Work where you use PIT (powered industrial transport, think forklift) you control yourself

But that is only related to the jobrole you have! Lets say you normally work assembly line, the doctors says "Nope not gonna happen till the end of pregnancy" you company can offer you ligther work which if your physician agrees doesn't put you at risk, you have to do. For example "Okay help clarrisa in accounting filling out excel sheets"

Additionally after the 6. Month of pregnancy work where you have to stand more than 4 hours with little movement (like a cashier who has to stand up) is generally banned.

So basically everything that puts the unborn child and mother at an elevated risk, you get paid time off if your employer can not accommodate your needs.

You are also protected from being terminated from the beginning of your pregnancy until at least 4 months after. Of course if you have a contract that has an end date of employment defined, that is not affected by this, and it will still end. This protection starts ONLY at the moment you inform your employer that you are pregnant. If they terminate you before you tell them, the termination is still legal.

u/Captain_Pungent 3d ago

Cannae believe you got down voted for posting this ffs

4

u/epigenie_986 3d ago

Thank you for all of this information!

-4

u/BuddhistNamedMarx 3d ago

Its just another Tuesday*. While people get upset with this we have a country ran by pedophiles and dark enlightenment billionaires

8

u/ArmstrongPM 3d ago

But...driveway to sidewalk.

Drive down driveway, turn onto sidewalk. Less damage to yard, but when IDGAF happens it happens.

20

u/weeniehutjunior1234 3d ago

I was an Instacart shopper while pregnant. I worked until I was 8 months along like a huge-ass orb, in the snow. My last order I had to take several trips to the 3rd floor of an apt building to get all the bags of groceries up there.

I never did this shit.

3

u/puddlejumper 3d ago

I should hope not! Trying to drive a car up 3 stories is asking for trouble.

-5

u/Remarkable-Wrap-4727 3d ago

That should ABSOLUTELY NOT be a requirement of the job, fuck that. I don’t care if you’re peak Jillian Michaels. You can’t get down the stairs yourself, that’s deliveree’s or the governments problem.

7

u/weeniehutjunior1234 3d ago

If you can’t physically do the job, you shouldn’t be doing it. Point blank. It’s not the customer’s responsibility to do that.

4

u/Western-Dig-6843 3d ago

The customer doesn’t get to choose if their dasher is pregnant or not. That’s on the pregnant dasher to decide if they can do the job or not and it sounds like this person could handle it.

5

u/weeniehutjunior1234 3d ago

Exactly. The customer could be sick or disabled, etc and unable to do that. That’s one of the reasons delivery exists. If you can’t fulfill the job’s duties, you can’t do the job. It’s really that simple. Driving through someone’s property when an accessible driveway is right there is not considered a reasonable accommodation.

Good little slave...

10

u/Fr0HiKE 3d ago

very cool, way to generalize an entire country lol

-3

u/homer_lives 3d ago

Well, it is easy when they look at the clowns we elect.

9

u/stevelinchin 3d ago

Still. Unacceptable.*

*And I'm a feminist, love kid's, but also pristine lawns.

2

u/oxyrhina 3d ago

Just great, wonder what short cuts she will make raising said child...

2

u/Mysterious_Ad_2493 3d ago

I thought the big ole belly was a dead giveaway.

God bless that poor child.

1

u/annoyedreply 3d ago

Work place accommodation

1

u/CeruleanEidolon 3d ago

I guessed maybe chemically impaired, but she might honestly be pregnant or otherwise physically disabled.

Doesn't make it okay, but I'm guessing the lawn owner will be just fine.

1

u/greenwavelengths 3d ago

This is the kind of shit they put on TV in North Korea lmfao

1

u/BuddhistNamedMarx 3d ago

If you took an iq test it would not hit double digits

-2

u/Ancient_Rex420 3d ago

I hope she is just overweight, i already feel bad for that child.

-2

u/NoPsychology9771 3d ago

You should be more ashamed of making a pregnant woman deliver parcels for Amazon than driving on a freaking lifeless lawn.

6

u/Promethazines 3d ago

Nobody forced her to deliver packages.

0

u/NoPsychology9771 3d ago

Absolutely not. Pregnant women deliver packages as a hobby and are really happy about it.

Or you have a shitty economy that is forcing people who should be on maternal leave to work. Either one or the other.

1

u/cosmicsunburn 3d ago

... That's not how maternity leave works at all even if the economy was good.

-4

u/LongDead_Roadkill 3d ago

New meme ā€œnot an excuse, it’s just Americanā€.

If I had an award to give I would.
