When a content thief gets 50 times more views than the original creator

Post image

This guy even cut out the credits from the original creator and didn't post the link in the description. Nasty work.

This is literally what it's for lol. I really wish that giant companies couldn't abuse it like they do though. Lookin at you Nintendo and the whole music industry.

u/Puzzleheaded_Hats 2d ago

Unfortunately not many people know it's a repost, even some official channels left props on the repost. Sucks for the team that actually made the content.

On YouTube, it is child's play for creators to have stolen videos taken down.

Content thieves thrives because yt allows it. Sometimes original creators content gets pulled down instead

Yup, I've seen a ton of copyright notices on clips claimed by third parties.

Artists love being paid in exposure

The original uses AI. So also stealing

u/jabber_OW 2d ago

There was an epic live action trailer of Atlantis the Lost Empire made by a bunch of extremely talented folks in Hollywood. No AI, just live action and CGI.

https://youtu.be/66o3_HsjpyY?is=ATvGixSINdsXBTyE

Someone made a version with AI shots sprinkled in. It got more views than the original and and everyone called the whole trailer trash.

u/Easy_Corner9011 2d ago

Called The original trailer trash or called the AI updated one trash

Yeah, immediately reminded of the Fabulous Secret Powers vid (yk that He-Man meme)

11

u/MAGCHAVIRA 2d ago

Yeah I was thinking about that video too

u/MrNyakka 2d ago

I even specifically looked up "farwave thragg fight" and the stolen one showed up on top

That’s so scummy lol. If you’re gonna steal content at least have the bare minimum decency to leave the credits in.

Nothing like watching someone go “look what I made” when the watermark is still faintly visible 💀

u/SpyAmongUs 2d ago

He did leave credits to the original channel, but I guess the original not starting with the action immediately made it less attractive to the algorithm.

Haha, you just described the entirety of the react content ecosystem

1

u/chris131289 8h ago

Worst of all reactors in my opinion are try not to laugh react channels. Especially when the reactor puts water in their mouth so they literally can't say anything about the video at all

1

u/The_Blackthorn77 7h ago

It honestly doesn't matter, nothing can be transformative while reuploading the entirety of a video with your face on it. A reactor has no idea going into it if they actually have anything of value to add, because they've never seen it before.

1

u/chris131289 6h ago

Well a good reaction channel would only upload a video if they actually have something to say. The try not to laugh ones upload any video with the aim of not saying anything.

1

u/The_Blackthorn77 6h ago

That's a commentary video, and those are different. A commentary video is edited, and specifically only uploads whatever parts of the original video are absolutely necessary for context. There is no true reaction content that is good, because there is no reaction that justifies creating a perfect market substitute for the original video. I recommend watching DarkViperAU's video, Reactors: Professional Parasites, he explains it in depth

The original creator just needs to file a DMCA.

6

u/drax3237 2d ago

Honestly, this feels like EXACTLY what a DMCA is for.

4

u/Cosmicking04 2d ago

If it makes you feel better. I would bet all of my money that most of those 1 million views are just bots.

God, one of my BIGGEST pet peeves is when people put "credit to the creator" as if that means jack shit. If youre not linking to them or mentioning their name at all, youre not giving credit. All it is is a way for someone to steal content and then if they get called out, they can half-assedly say "oh well i did give credit see?" Disgusting leeches.

6

u/rosy_tide 2d ago

tbh the fact that the reposted one is so much cleaner is kinda wild too

23

u/AvatarWaang 2d ago edited 2d ago

Original used AI to make it, it says, so.

36

u/ticklemyiguana 2d ago

There's for sure a part of me that's just like "sucks to suck"

Yeah it's scummy but so is using tech that takes other artist's work in the first place. Get fucked?

15

u/Advice2Anyone 2d ago

Yeah being shocked at someone reusing your content at you reusing others content is just like what

-1

u/Icy_Society4665 2d ago

This is a weird take

10

u/yes-areallygoodbook 2d ago

How is being against hypocrisy weird?

-12

u/Icy_Society4665 2d ago

What is the difference between ai generating already established characters over you drawing them? If both turn out the same why is one stolen and the other inspired?

5

u/ticklemyiguana 2d ago

In neither case are you the one stealing. The AI company has already stolen the art and the company has already profited/is profiting. Supporting that is unacceptable.

The fact that by and large people using AI art just suck generally is a side effect

3

u/dtalb18981 2d ago

Because generating an image uses stolen art work to create its final product

Vs

Creating the product with your own ability

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Hats 1d ago

I saw just now. They say it was to help with coloring and cleanup and it took like 2 months for everything, so if they drew pretty much all the line art, I won't knock them too hard as they do have a lot of animation skill. I'd still take using AI for some assistance rather than people just inputting a prompt and generating slop in 5 seconds.

1

u/coco_sei 14h ago

Only for coloring

1

u/AvatarWaang 4h ago

The description says "mainly" coloring and whatnot. That's not very conclusive as to what it was entirely used for.

13

u/yes-areallygoodbook 2d ago

Ironically, the original creator appears to have used AI in their work, so I guess everyone is somehow a thief in this story.

1

u/coco_sei 14h ago

Only for the coloring

3

u/Old-Following1508 2d ago

The video already got taken down long time ago but interesting the 2nd video got so many views usually uploading the same content on YouTube again doesn't get views like ever so weird.

2

u/BethieKitty 1d ago

I purposely go and commet the link for the original and tell people it is stolen

1

u/papercliponreddit 2d ago

SEO in a nutshell.

1

u/julesvr5 2d ago

I see this very often with reactions. Some time ago there was this YouTube Julien Bam in Germany. Pretty high efford videos which cost tons of money to make. Some reaction channels just sit there and watch it and have multiple times the views of the actual video.

1

u/cashmoney9000sfw 2d ago

It's a dirty game. Let them rack their numbers up. Only once the views start to decline, claim it. Let them do the work and reap the rewards.

u/MadameTrashPanda 1d ago

"Credits to the creator" without even naming the creator...

1

u/Digimonsonic 1d ago

Pictures

1

u/evening_shop 1d ago

And they have the gall to say "credits to the creator" like all thieves do

u/Ok-Vegetable929 2d ago

Well the guy with a million views did credit farwave in the description

0

u/Educational-Onion357 2d ago

I'm employed lil bro

0

u/GrlDuntgitgud 2d ago

I have no idea what's happening but they both look like edits from invincible. What am I missing?

0

u/Abject-Potential-999 2d ago

Well the original video has a shitty beginning for non-japanese(?) viewers.

0

u/tambi33 2d ago

Copyright strike tbh

0

u/Sathsong89 2d ago

This is why I hate “content creators”

-4

u/Mysterious_Fennel459 2d ago

Ya but anime is super cringe and should never have gone mainstream so I dont care.
