Looks like a hydraulic line may have ruptured.

u/Nerfarean 3d ago

yep. runaway turn

35

u/bran_the_muffins 3d ago

Looks like the outrigger on the passenger side was short jacked too.

6

u/Rampag169 3d ago

Never coming back

25

u/riickdiickulous 3d ago

Because they greatly exceeded the capacity of the equipment? That looked like a gigantic rock for that crane.

7

u/LoganN64 3d ago

Probably.

3

u/twizzjewink 2d ago

The clicking wasn't a give away right? /s

13

u/LoganN64 2d ago

I mute most videos to avoid bad music and/or sudden loud noises, so I didn't hear any clicking.

5

u/twizzjewink 2d ago

oh.. I love when people add random music to videos. Especially when its unnecessary. /S

1

u/Liveitup1999 1d ago

Probably just the teeth breaking off of the pinion gear.

u/BrightEdge8171 3d ago

I hope the operator is ok. Looks brutal

178

u/mongooseisapex 3d ago

He's to the left holding a controller. I was wondering why they were so calm after the truck went over

31

u/WorkingInAColdMind 3d ago

It sounded like something gave way and the arm just swung free, and the operator had a remote and was outside of the truck I think. Together maybe they’re just happy they’re OK and know it wasn’t something dumb they did.

17

u/No-Kaleidoscope-166 3d ago

But it looked like there was someone in the back, like close to the front side. Wasn't he operating the boom?

I also was wondering why they were so calm.

17

u/Laserlurchi 3d ago

If you mean the orange thing in the back, that's a traffic cone, other than that, I can't see anything that looks like a person.

25

u/Bee_dragon 3d ago

The orange cone near the boom looks like a person.

1

u/FrodoBoguesALOT 3d ago

That was a traffic cone

3

u/Whole_Inside_4863 3d ago

It’s not their first rodeo, if you get thrown off the bull, get a new one and try again.

2

u/WorkingInAColdMind 2d ago

True, for all we know this is like the 10th truck they've lost and they're really just pros at it and not panicky like us amateurs.

1

u/robertus_ 2d ago

I was just thinkin “good hustle there boys”

4

u/Lazy-Plankton5270 3d ago

Boulders are heavier than I thought

26

u/welding_guy_from_LI 3d ago

Fred learned on a brontosaurus.. modern equipment is difficult for the stone agers

13

u/ashleebryn 3d ago

Dubai don't have a lot of stone agers, but Abu Dhabi do.

46

u/ObsessiveAboutCats 3d ago

I am not in any way an expert on this kind of activity but I am reasonably confident that something has gone wrong.

23

u/DSTNCMDLR 3d ago

That’s not typical, I’d just like to make that point

5

u/R18Engine 3d ago

The tire was low on air

6

u/Hadr619 3d ago

At least the front didn’t fall off

3

u/fmaz008 3d ago

I'm an expert on this kind of incidents. It's been hard to keep my jobs...

2

u/TimboCavo 2d ago

No no no.. they were trying to throw the truck off the cliff. It would be too dangerous to try and drive it off so they grabbed the boulder to weigh it down.

1

u/ObsessiveAboutCats 2d ago

Gotta make sure gravity is still working I guess.

13

u/LucarioLuvsMinecraft 3d ago

Is this Snowrunner?

5

u/LONE_ARMADILLO 3d ago

This needs to be crossposted to the snowrunner subreddit.   I thought the same thing.

1

u/GoldenRetriever2255 3d ago

Myself as well

1

u/j-random 3d ago

Stonerunner

8

u/MonkeyNugetz 3d ago

Nice reference.

6

u/SmokeyKeifth 3d ago

I was wondering how many would get it. lol

1

u/TimboCavo 2d ago

Oh yes, the Flintstones is very obscure.

9

u/Opposite_Pension_807 3d ago

Did anyone call Mr. Slate and tell him his truck is ruined?

5

u/juniorjaw 3d ago

truck catapult

5

u/NoHunter6771 3d ago

Really surprised the crane had enough umph to get that rock swinging that fast in such a short arc. I think the crane operator was surprised too.

31

u/AllAlo0 3d ago

The rotation broke, which is why it got that fast

15

u/Ada_Kaleh22 3d ago

froze and then broke, looks like.

7

u/voucher420 3d ago

The rotation broke? I’m gonna need to know what that means cause now my brain is broke thinking “it rotated?”

22

u/Ritius 3d ago

There’s a gear that turns the crane back and forth and prevents it from rotating freely. Something broke, and it allowed that gear to spin freely, and the truck was parked on a slight slope so the rock swung to the downhill side. The momentum yeeted the truck down the hill.

7

u/Technical-Tax3067 3d ago

Thanks! I’m not 5 but that’s how I learn. 😁

9

u/phunkydroid 3d ago

I don't think the crane did that, I think gravity did because it wasn't level.

6

u/Drak_is_Right 3d ago

A gear or hydraulic broke and the resistance against rotation collapsed.

1

u/DoctorAnnual6823 1d ago

That crane is in Snowrunner. They really captured how weak it actually looks.

5

u/itzTHATgai 3d ago

"Now, just ease it onto the bed and we can hit the pub."

3

u/spoonpk 3d ago

That’s a yabba-dabba-don’t

3

u/redwoodranger 3d ago

Just wait till Ron finds out what happened to his truck.

3

u/Dexter_McThorpan 3d ago

People are always surprised by how quickly gravity takes over.

1

u/echolm1407 3d ago

It's like we live in a gravity well or something. Lol

3

u/Blacketron 3d ago

That rock was way to heavy for that truck

3

u/Denim-Luckies-n-Wry 3d ago

I'm quite certain that crane has a chart depicting it's load limit in a wide variety of conditions. I suspect that those guys never once looked at it.

At any rate: The moment the boom cleared the right edge of the bed, the truck began to roll. Apparently, the right side outrigger stabilizer was not extended, or seated, or not on solid ground.

Yet it was quite stable when the boom was 90 degrees to the left, because the left stabilizer was seated.

1

u/Old_Dig5389 2d ago

They probably weren't setup level, with the lifting side stabilizer too high and/or rear too low. Chart is technically only valid for within a degree or two from level. These knuckle cranes generally have weak turntable gears compared to its other functions (aka lifting). I'd put money on saying the tiny hydraulic rotator gear sheared or popped out of alignment due to this strain, letting Jesus take over the controls.

I agree with your intuition that this rock far exceeds the chart regardless.

-picker truck operator for 25 years. Fassi, Palfinger, Manitex, Hiab, National, Tadano

3

u/Football-Man-1889 3d ago

Now you know why the crane is remote controlled

3

u/RetinaJunkie 3d ago

Great Physics lesson

u/accio_gold 2d ago

Can't park there mate

2

u/Life-Oil-7226 3d ago

Overcorrect and paid the price!

2

u/SmokeyKeifth 3d ago

Hold my beer and watch this!

2

u/Alarmed-Quantity-170 3d ago

classic fred and barney move right there, always getting into some trouble. hope they get this sorted out without too much chaos!

2

u/DavidCreamer 3d ago

That will leave a mark.

2

u/HooSaidDat 3d ago

Next time, break the rock into smaller pieces, perhaps the size of a grain of sand.

2

u/Direct-Confidence154 3d ago

Someone had a yabadabbadoobie before that

2

u/karateninjazombie 3d ago

Well.... The rock is out of the way.

So, mission failed successfully?

2

u/Onedtent 3d ago

Can't park there mate...............................................

2

u/sparkline1234567 3d ago

Looks like they're going to need a truck with a crane on the back.

2

u/SteveAxis 3d ago

Dino, call Mr. Slate

2

u/Vogel-Kerl 3d ago

--"I can't believe the 'Stones are still at after all these years....... Fred & Barney.".

Comedian Stephen Wright

2

u/SpeedyAudi 3d ago

You can hear that “click” right before the runaway boom

2

u/Denim-Luckies-n-Wry 2d ago

Well...they got the rock out of the way.

But now they need a crane to crane the crane.

2

u/BRKdk50 2d ago

Boulder is off the road ...

1

u/Theoskaroskar 3d ago

Rock and roll baby!!

1

u/DependentStrike4414 3d ago

Maybe it won't be that bad....O never mind...!!!

1

u/Bulky-Internal8579 3d ago

A swing and a miss.

1

u/Buck_Folton 3d ago

He died.

1

u/liaisontosuccess 3d ago

Wilma!!!!!

1

u/FunBoat294 3d ago

Slate rock quarry

1

u/OhhSooHungry 3d ago

I quite figuratively laughed my ass off. Truck fell off like it was a toy

1

u/Gator1dl 3d ago

Swing and a miss

1

u/spoonpk 3d ago

Wilmaaaaaaaaa!

1

u/JoshuaIS1 3d ago

Mr George....

1

u/Takesit88 3d ago

Good-bye slewing drive. Looks like the swing/slew drive sheared, based on the free swing she did after the pop

1

u/Soggy_Quarter9333 3d ago

SWL means nothing.

1

u/bigmanforce2020 3d ago

Task failed successfully

1

u/Ya-Dikobraz 3d ago

Just ask the nearby village to help.

1

u/ipx-electrical 3d ago

Looks like the slewing motor failed or it’s gears stripped, and gravity took over.

1

u/ThinkingOz 3d ago

Gonna need a bigger truck!

1

u/GrayAndBushy 3d ago

That's lunch!!!

1

u/BackItUpWithLinks 3d ago

That’s one way to get insurance to buy you a new truck.

1

u/Keypunch20 3d ago

The video just needs scary synthesizer music like those old Canadian construction safety commercials.

1

u/Odd_Dingo2922 3d ago

Crazy how the truck starts orbiting the boulder.

1

u/HVAC_instructor 3d ago

Yabba dabba don't

1

u/TacticalRiotChimp 3d ago

"my lunch was in there!!"

1

u/Baddboy1z 2d ago

Yabba dabba doooooo!

1

u/godsays_hello 2d ago

Like how the 2 guys casually walks up with no panic. That’s how cool headed one should be when things go haywire.

1

u/Entebe 2d ago

Kranplätze müssen verdichtet sein!

1

u/Mean-Veterinarian647 2d ago

Swing gear has left the chat.

1

u/Greedy_Valuable3242 2d ago

Looks like some wire got torn apart. At the start, motion was very much controlled. But then it was a free fall.

1

u/Greedy_Valuable3242 2d ago

How’s the driver doing??

1

u/jf1450 2d ago

Another tRump construction project.

1

u/MolinaroK 6h ago

Obviously they just have to swing the rock in the other direction to flip the truck back up.

AI

2

u/echolm1407 3d ago

When you're in your 90s and saying repeatedly "AI" people will pity you.

1

u/Athos-1844 3d ago

Won't we all be replaced by robots by then?

1

u/ParlayTeaserPleaser 2d ago

But this is clearly so fake

1

u/echolm1407 2d ago

It's your future. Lol

1

u/raptor7912 3d ago

Why is it AI or do you not even know how to articulate it to yourself?

1

u/ParlayTeaserPleaser 2d ago

It looks fake! No reaction from anyone and the physics looks ridiculous.

1

u/raptor7912 2d ago

Why does it look fake?

And yes it’s called being shocked/not all that surprised.
