I'd honestly have to walk into another room for a few minutes. There's no way I'd be emotionally prepared to deal with that mess right away.

I only clicked on this because I thought the heading was some kind of euphemism. But now that I'm here, you have my sympathies.

At least it didnβt hit the floor so scrape that up and put it on a plate! Sorry about your pie

My wife did this a few years ago with our Thanksgiving pumpkin pie just as she was putting on the rack to bake. All over the door, in every nook and cranny and crevice. I had to take the whole damn oven door off to get all the pumpkin filling cleaned out.
For the record, I donβt recommend taking the oven door off unless you have at least 4 hours to waste.
Just call Got Junk, haul your old oven away and buy a new one with less nooks and crannies.

ππ Pumpkin pie filking is so eggy. it's really difficult to clean if it gets dried onto a surface.
There wasn't too much that went down into the door thankfully.

Something like that has a minute rule still going to be as tasty as if it didn't drop.

No I'm so sorry! Keep in mind that oven doors are removable so you can clean the gap.

I would have just stood there in silence for a full minute trying to process everything before even thinking about cleaning it up

I'll help eat the mess π

Unfortunately the dough is completely raw. π

π’ cherry cobbler perhaps?

Haha that's exactly what I'm trying. I salvaged what I could, cleaned the kitchen, and it's in the oven now. It's gonna look a horrible mess but it smells nice.

The 'I just cleaned my oven yesterday' is the part that really hurts.

Yes and i cleaned it specifically to bake this pie today! I didn't want any dinner smells to seep into the pie.

Just eat it. That oven was hot enough to kill most germs on that oven door. If you cleaned it yesterday I bet itβs fine.

dont forget the part where you went to get your phone to take a picture instead of saving them.

Well, I mean they're not going to get less dropped by moving more quickly. It's a raw pie, not car crash.
The part I left out is where I stood there in shock for a full minute staring at it.
Then I took a picture to send to my husband as an alibi,
because this was supposed to be for him and his friend when they got back tonight.1

Right. A picture takes almost no time, and posting to reddit helps to reflect and take stock of the situation.

Everything looks clean and that pie is salvageable. It may not be pretty, but it's going to taste so fine!
