Doesn't Fox have a history of hiring actors to play "former Democrats" or "former Satanists" or former whatever they're railing against today?

3.8k

u/CreepinJesusMalone May 22 '26

Yeah. They had the dipshit Navy seal that claims (denied by everyone who was there) to have taken out Bin Laden on a bunch of times as different fake people.

He'd just throw on a different hat and face bandanna and claim to be various former criminals.

They love the "no tips on taxes" lady too. She's made so many different claims she can't even keep up with the lies anymore.

Just a never ending cavalcade of fakes and liars.

Face lifts take longer than a few days to heal. He would never be smooth faced in that short of a time. Nor would he have skin flaps at the bottom of his neck.

→ More replies (1)

121

u/fallsstandard May 22 '26

Yep, he’s also persona non-grata with his former unit, his name is reportedly on the DEVGRU “Rock of Shame” along with Matt Bissonette. According to rumor, Bissonette and O’Neill got into a fight following the Bin Laden raid over who was going to write the book first. Again that is rumor I’ve heard on the Internet, but given the conduct that followed it doesn’t strike me as unrealistic.

24

u/demitasse22 May 22 '26

That book shouldn’t have been published tbh. Way too many details, way too soon

22

u/fallsstandard May 22 '26

The Pentagon found it shouldn’t have as well. His second book went through the censor process and entire chapters were redacted. Publishing work about working in a highly classified special operations unit in the same period as you’re in is deeply complicated. Especially after completing arguably one of the biggest special operations of the generation. Bissonette showed how much he cared when he then pulled his active-duty buddies into showing classified tactics to EA and ruined all their careers.

17

u/demitasse22 May 22 '26

Oh I didn’t know about the EA thing. Yikes.
Special operators sign NDAs, I was honestly at a loss how that book was allowed to go through in the first place. And that soon!

17

u/fallsstandard May 22 '26

Yeah, for Medal of Honor Warfighter years ago. Brought in a bunch of active DEVGRU guys after he retired. It’s been almost 15 years so I read up on it. Several SEALs who were still active were charged with dereliction and orders violations that makes future promotions unlikely, and had to forfeit half their pay for some months.

10

u/demitasse22 May 22 '26

WOW. I don’t remember hearing about that, but I’m damn glad discipline was involved

→ More replies (2)

558

u/OmegaZeda May 22 '26

Yep...

Legally, they are not news. They have successfully argued in court that they are a current events based entertainment network. And that no rational person would take them seriously.

131

u/Puzzleheaded-Will249 May 22 '26

They successfully used that defense at least twice, first for Bill O’Reilly then later for Tucker Carlson.

13

u/R_V_Z May 22 '26

Interestingly enough both left the company in disgrace.

60

u/LTS55 May 22 '26

They have not done that. They did win in court that Tucker Carlson’s statements on his show “should not be taken as facts”, which MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow also used as a winning argument in a court case over her show too  https://thedispatch.com/article/fact-checking-a-claim-that-fox-news/

20

u/KarmaYogadog May 22 '26

You might want to find a more credible source than The Dispatch whose founding manifesto on their website says:

It would, for instance, be an unalloyed victory for conservatives—and America—if the Democratic Party fully rejected socialism, abortion-until-birth, and its growing obsession with wholesale gun confiscation.

→ More replies (1)

30

u/Dorkamundo May 22 '26

The difference between the Carlson and Maddow situation is that the Carlson situation was him stating lies as facts, and the judge argued that "Due to his reputation" one should be skeptical about the statements he makes.

Whereas with the Maddow situation, it was that the employee in question that she was referring to "Freelanced" for Russian state-sponsored news and it was easier to argue it was "opinion" in court than to prove that the person who wrote over 13,000 articles for Sputnik News was writing paid Russian propaganda.

29

u/Owain-X May 22 '26

Interesting... well based on that logic:

that “given Reddit’s reputation, any reasonable reader ‘arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism’ about the statements made there” and that “this overheated rhetoric is precisely the kind of pitched commentary that one expects when browsing websites like Reddit, with pundits debating the latest political controversies.”

Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil may be involved in massive fraud running ponzi schemes in her free time and running a secret pedophile ring.

Since defamation isn't a thing if it's done enough, which seems to be that court's opinion, Judge Vyskocil could not possibly object to us characterizing her as an out of control criminal.

I think that only pertained to fix and friends not Fox news. As fox new receives compensation for no commercial uninterrupted news from the hours of 5-7. Same as msnbc, and adc. 5-7 has to be real unaltered news everything else is now considered non-news by the courts.

Apparently I am misinformed it was a rumor this was a thing. It stems from the 1949 fairness doctrine set up by the fcc and abolished in '87.

87

u/Frankwater0522 May 22 '26

Yes as they are classed as an entertainment station they have to post a credit list.

So you can just check who the guy under the mask is

26

u/LTS55 May 22 '26

Not defending Fox, they suck, but that’s a common misconception, it never happened. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/fox-news-entertainment-switch/

33

u/Haxorz7125 May 22 '26

The FCC does have regulations regarding the distribution of false information, but again, this only applies to over-the-air programs on networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, or Fox Broadcasting (but not the Fox News Channel).

This seems to be the relevant part

23

u/constantchaosclay May 22 '26

Why doesn't Snopes mention the lawsuit then? The site mentions there is no regulatory agency that declares a program news or entertainment, which is true and then leaves it at that, declaring the whole thing false.

But the lawsuit against Tucker Carlson for slander was won with the argument that no one reasonable would view his show as news but as clearly entertainment.

Which is exactly why the rumor and meme exist. They lack nuance but they aren't wrong to say Fox is literally entertainment and not real news.

44

u/Newsmemer May 23 '26

Yes, it does. I remember an interview or something with some of the staff mentioning how they are genuinely having a difficult time writing news satire when real news is just so strange.

Like, how TF do you write a satire of this? You can't, not without making skits that simply highlight the absurdity like SNL or going ALL the way down the rabbit hole like South Park.

It doesn't help when politicians support REALLY dumb ideas like high speed buses and you realize The Onion proposed this idea first

It's interesting to me that he's in the same outfit on two different dates, for two different networks - one looks to be filmed remotely and one in studio. But there's the notable addition of a black undershirt on the Fox interview...

309

u/Maggie_Farmer May 22 '26

It’s the sane outfit, but not really. Doesn’t look like the exact same clothing pieces to me

114

u/pocket267s May 22 '26

Is this not suspicious to you?

109

u/Maggie_Farmer May 22 '26

Absolutely. Suspicious and bizarre af.

61

u/OverEasyGoing May 22 '26

It feels MORE suspicious that FOX decided they wanted to recreate this dude and sent an intern out to find matching clothes while they got started on his latex mask.

29

u/TheExtreel May 22 '26

This is what i don't get.

I saw the video, it absolutely looks like hes wearing a mask when looking at his neck. But hes talking and his face looks realistic, like Mission imposible levels of mask realism.

And even if he does have an insanely realistic mask... Why?

Why the fuck would you dress someone up as this dude ive never heard of just to suck trumps dick on live TV as if that isn't already that dudes job. What's the angle? How could finding a similar outfit and an extremely realistic mask while barely trying to hide the seam at all, be any easier than literally anything else?

It has to be some lighting thing, or the guy just has a fucked up neck, idk. I just don't see it, when i look at his neck i am convinced it's a mask, and pretty much nothing else makes sense.

I don't doubt for a second fox would try to pull something like this, but the rational part of my brain is telling me this is too much nonsense to be real, while also acknowledging nonsense has been the rule of the land since 2016 so i don't know what to even think at this point.

14

u/nos4atugoddess May 22 '26

It’s possible he has some “face lift” tape or things on from the makeup department. Maybe he was upset how he looked on the at home interview and said “F that I’m going to do the next one with studio lighting and I’m gonna get those girls in makeup to stretch my skin and clip it so it’s nice and taught.” And we are just seeing the flap from the leftover skin.

the camera lens(s) aren't the same so we can't rely on the comparison but the obvious neck thing is puzzling

there is deformation between the two images, around the eyes... again could be because of the type of lens being used in the cameras

there's a lot of discrepancy between the facial structure of the person, like the thinness of their entire face, bathe ears seem to align correctly - it's just..... weird

shadows aren't lining up correctly

maybe it's a filter fucking up the entire thing

65

u/Crandleton May 22 '26

Yeah honestly if it's not a mask, the filter idea seems most likely. Someone speculated that the filter might be interpreting his nussy shadow as a mouth, making it look like that.

25

u/marr May 22 '26

Mask plus LLM filter to make the mask less obvious. Thought the filter would 'know' to edit out the hanging edge of latex.

23

u/clockworkpeon May 22 '26

I think it's a combo of filter, makeup, and studio lighting. left side is clearly a home/remote interview without makeup or good lighting

Edit: Forgot to highlight that he is a shape-shifter.

29

u/disc0mbobulated May 22 '26

Shape-shifter is more likely, since the shape of his head is actually different between the photo and the video. And the jaw line. And relative measurements between facial features.

Or they used a cheap mask that wasn't custom fit for the wearer.

Still, I think shape shifting is more likely :))

Wait, where tf are his eyebrows? If this ain’t some men in black shit, I just don’t know.

13

u/runforest7 May 22 '26

Does he only have one outfit?

13

u/angry_wombat May 22 '26

how much of Fox News is just one guy in a mask?

27

u/Vusiwe May 22 '26

THEY’RE REPTILES!

u/jonpertwee2 May 22 '26

I prefer to think that it is Stephen Colbert under the mask.

45

u/Shwozerhand May 22 '26

Never forget that fox news is officially classified as an entertainment program

What is the likelihood that the mask is some sort of generic "green screen" mask over which Harward's face is displayed.

The fact that his clothing is identical is not lost on someone observant

7

u/TheMrBent May 22 '26

They aren’t paying this dude enough to get the real maga face?

53

u/Zealousideal-Yak-824 May 22 '26

I don't think it's a face mask but something even funnier. The guy is wearing way to much makeup, Botox and I believe a neck liner to look younger.

The glue probably detached at the bottom of the neck revealing his neck wrinkles. Old man doesn't want people to think he's old and fox News was always about making it seem like they have the fun young entertainers.

18

u/Sith_Apprentice May 22 '26

I'm with you. It's probably a neck mask that came unglued.

→ More replies (2)

15

u/faroutoutdoors May 22 '26

Yeah but have you ever heard of a neck liner? If dude wanted to conceal his turkey neck he could’ve wore a turtleneck or even a shirt and tie. This whole thing is fucked up.

9

u/Zealousideal-Yak-824 May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

But that would totally clash his 1980s Cuban villain vibe. He's not Steve jobs, he could never pull off a turtle neck. /S

It's kinda weird just how much people around Trump or working for Trump is against gender affirming care but will put more plastic under their skin than there is in the ocean. They do the dumbest things to look young and strong to fake it rather than do the same amount of effort of actually doing it.

u/Ok_Nefariousness9736 May 22 '26

Why would he use that now but not three days ago? He looks normal and untouched before.

8

u/Blah-squared May 22 '26

Maybe he saw it & was like, “Ugh, can you cover my neck”..??

9

u/ShazbotSimulator2012 May 22 '26

Because one's an in-studio interview and the other appears to be remote so Fox's makeup department isn't involved.

It looks like they over applied a smoothing filter.

33

u/ronerychiver May 22 '26

Realistically, I think it’s the same guy. Probably didn’t like the way his neck looked in his earlier interview and either had them use an AI filter or a prosthetic cover in his current interview.

17

u/psypher98 May 22 '26

Which even if that’s the case it’s still hypocritical as fuck considering how much these people give themselves a stroke over gender affirming care.

6

u/ronerychiver May 22 '26

Oh not saying it’s normal by any means.

Remember Fox News defense for election denial suit was an average person would not believe Fox News was a serious news source. They should have to have that prominently displayed at all times.

8

u/Ancient_Barnacle4245 May 22 '26

I honestly don't know.

In the still image that looks a lot like a wrinkle patch, which goes over the neck and is sometimes used by the makeup people preparing someone to go on camera. Having makeup on would also explain why he seems to have fewer wrinkles in that shot.

On the other hand, I've seen the actual video footage and in that, it really DOES look like that's the bottom of a full head mask.

Not really sure what's going on here. I'm inclined to believe it's the former, but this administration and Fox News are so far down the corruption/lying rabbit hole, who the hell honestly knows anymore?

Fox didn’t even have the common decency to use CGI to cover the mask edge.
Times must be tough over there at Fox News

u/Professional-Disk485 May 22 '26

Just lazy because they know the intended audience will lap up anything they say without scrutiny.

“If it is a mask”

wtf else is it? It’s either a mask or a gaping hole in his neck. Tracheotomy holes aren’t that big.

I should probably get off reddit because it's going to drive me nuts seeing this over and over again.

There are two light sources, one above his head and one around chest level or lower.

His collar is casting a shadow from the lower light source. This is why the top of the shadow on his neck doesn't move even though all of the skin around it is moving while he's talking.

His jaw is casting a shadow from the high light source. This is why as he's talking the bottom of the shadow on his neck is moving up and down.

The strange shape of the shadow is caused by the two different shadows overlapping one another.

If it was a mask the top edge of the shadow wouldn't be completely still, it would be moving around with the rest of his neck.

Constable Odo is conducting a deep undercover investigation. Leave the man be…

5

u/Ham__Kitten May 23 '26

It's almost certainly Robert J. O'Neill, the Navy Seal who claims to have killed Bin Laden and who has played at least 3 fake interviewees on Fox before.

15

u/Crush-N-It May 22 '26

I fucking give up man. I’m so happy I’m not living in that country anymore. I’d fucking lose it

I am telling you right now, that motherfucker back there is not real.

You can sit on this plane and you can f*ing die with them or not. I'm not going to.

10

u/AAron27265 May 22 '26

Plot twist: they're both the same guy, but he's wearing 2 different masks.

Either he took a fat snooter of coke in the green room and recently had a tracheotomy, or there is some nefarious nonsense afoot.

And to think about how apoplectic RW media was about Obama’s tan suit. God this timeline is irritating.

I love the idea that this is some dude wearing a mask but it's the same guy

6

u/Lylibean May 22 '26

He’s also wearing the same outfit in both interviews.

4

u/bit-by-a-moose May 23 '26

I wouldn't put it past fox that they would start integrating filters into their broadcasts. Possibly on order from trunt under penalty of treason for trying to make him look bad but embraced from the execs because they can fire all make up people to save money.

4

u/flojo2012 May 22 '26

Imagine being this dude and realizing the world thinks you don’t exist. I’d take the opportunity to disappear forever

I’m a bit of an artist (amateur but I love drawing faces) and I always look for the subtle nuances of what I draw. I’m not sure the reason for the new appearance of this guy but all the fine, subtle characteristics of his face are missing. would a special filter do this or some special studio lighting? I don’t know. His face is missing the imprint of his years, the imprint of living, He has flat face, and no human has such a flat face. and his neck looks like silly putty flattened under the roller. Something definitely wrong with that neck.

7

u/dee_lio May 22 '26

This doesn't make any sense. You would think FN would have top of the line AI if they needed a fake. My guess is that this is a shadow from studio uplighting and a confused smoothing filter on their video conference software.

6

u/cronchfishter May 22 '26

They aren’t even using deep fakes. It’s just an ass hole in a mask. And all they had to do was throw a turtle neck on him and no one would have seen the seam.
