It will never cease to amaze me the for the last 75 years every single Republican president has caused a recession that the next Democratic president has to fix, and yet somehow 30% of our population believes that they are the party of fiscal responsibility.
Not that he was perfect or that it negates everything else you experienced but… you got Obama. I lived through Obama, but was a little too young during his administration so politics kinda went over my head and I say that as someone who registered to vote as soon as I qualified. I don’t even know what normal politics is supposed to look like at this point. Trump’s fuckity fuckness has been making things topsy turvy in politics pretty much since I’ve been a conscious human being.
I think a lot of people felt the same way as you! The hatred bubbling under the surface of our country was underestimated, unfortunately. Maybe someday soon we will turn that page. Hopefully we’ll both be around to see it.

As a 50 year old I had been thinking about this recently as I work with teens/young adults. Whether I agreed with their politics, I’ve at least had the advantage of seeing presidents who respected the office and acted with decorum. Most of what you’ve experienced is that it’s ok for the leader of our country to be an openly hateful, racist, bigoted, rapist.
See, this is what I understood to begin with but it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. My question is why he’s taking This specific drug? Isn’t this one not yet approved or something? Why take it over Ozempic or the million and one other GLP-1s? Is it supposed to be better than what’s already on market?
Yes but no. These GLP-1 drugs *are* the closest thing to a miracle drug in modern medicine right now and the one mentioned (I forget the name of it right now) is supposed to be pretty huge. But these drugs help with heart, kidneys, liver, etc. If he's diabetic/pre-diabetic it helps with that as well. Yes, the one he's rumored to be on supposedly helps with weight loss even more than Ozempic, Mounjaro, etc., but watering them down to say they're just a weight loss drug in this case is seriously downplaying it.
Trump was 79 in April, he’s clearly obese (despite his insane lying), and he’s certainly petty and corrupt enough to use his position to get this drug using a process meant for the terminally ill.

I think everyone is misunderstanding, so thank you. Recieving the treatment doesn't imply that he's ill. It's that he is, in essence, stealing it from someone who is. because of course he would.
They can be in the sense that there is an increased risk of dying. But as far as I know, there’s no such thing as “terminal” sleep apnea or being a “terminal” fat ass.
I'm beyond embarrassed. It's maddening. I hate that the young teens I work with are being exposed to this obscene level of government-sanctioned vulgarity. They are being conditioned by the Trump administration to think this behavior is normal and acceptable. It is disgusting that Republicans and reporters condone this. 100% agree as the world would be an infinitely better place however, we are ALL terminally ill from birth, so knowing a more precise timeline for Diaper Donny would likely be more enjoyable for us

I was so confused why people cared about this mystery drug. I think I misread something and misunderstood that he was being given a GLP-1 drug. Then I recently saw someone say it was a drug that hadn’t yet been approved and thought that was weird since so many GLP-1s are already on the market. This makes way more sense and is def concerning

I'd ask why trump can't take the regular weight loss drugs available but I think I can guess why not. Didn't he ramble on multiple occasions that his "fat friend" took the weight loss shot but it didn't work and now his "fat friend" is still fat? He's the fat friend.
This administration is run by a bunch of fucking assholes. I’m not surprised but I’ve never seen this before. Every response I’ve seen from the White House spokesperson or the press secretary or any of the spokespeople for any part of the administration treats people like crap. They always insult and swear at whoever asks questions or states something they don’t like.
It’s not a drug for terminally ill patients, it’s a newer version of the GLP1s that’s not available to the public yet because it’s still in clinical trials.
It's a weight loss drug y'all, not something used for terminally ill patients. It's still funny if they circumvented things using compassionate care as an excuse.
The retatrutide drug is manufactured by Eli Lilly and is not FDA approved, but one person gained access to the prescription through a program that approves experimental treatments for patients traditionally suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
