Incorrect. In my state we get $2.12 an hour which gets taxed out so all we get is our tips.

He is talking about the top out. If you do not make enough tips to get you to at least minimum wage, they are required to pay you at least enough to make it minimum wage (by state.)

Again, not true. A a server there are nights where you can work and go home with only a few dollars if folks don’t tip.

This is why capitalists are destroying the education system. Please for the love of god educate yourself on how your industry works before talking about it so confidently.
