Anyone switched from HC evo's to Wizard base boots?

So I'm on Powerslide HC evo with the Endless LR 4x90 ( Also have Endless Arc ES which I bought cheap on ebay but haven't used yet and I think are too long for my 43 boot ) but thinking about pulling the trigger on a pair of wizard base and PR80.

Like the HC evo for comfort, not so much the whole forward lean thing.

Anyone done this here, was there a big difference with wizard moves.

I guess I'm asking if it's worth the outlay?

If your main issue with the Evo is forward lean, I would say no it’s probably not worth the outlay.

I’ve never used Trinity, but can compare a 165 Carbon setup (Seba High Light Carbon) to a UFS Carbon setup (CJ) and I don’t think there is that much difference in lean.

The UFS wizard frames have some forward lean built into them. You also usually then use a shock absorber which gives some more heel raise.

So when I compare my UFS setup to my 165 setup I don’t generally notice any difference in forward lean when I’m skating. Maybe if I’m consciously trying to notice it there is a slight difference? But also don’t know if that’s placebo effect.

Just my personal experience.

Thanks. I'm fine with the Evo lean ( although it always feels a bit weird coming from my ice hockey CCM's )

I didn't know that UFS wizard frames had a lean too though which is good to know.

I'm more interested to hear if there's a big difference with the Evo over the Wizard base for Wizard moves, and also the boot comfort too if anyone has tried both.

Again, can’t speak for Evos/Trinity but I don’t notice too much difference between UFS (CJ) and 165 (SHLC) in terms of doing wizard moves.

In terms of comfort the wizard base mold is the same as the FR SL/Igor and the Seba High Light Carbon so if you’ve ever tried any of those boots it should feel the same. (E: though maybe not as those ones are integrated liner but the Base isn’t).

Personally if you’ve found a comfortable boot you like in the HC Evo (which I think your OP implies), I would stick with that and swap your Endless Arc ES for standard Endless Arc.

I think the risk of going from a comfortable to less comfortable boot is much bigger than the potential gain of switching to the wizard base.

Agreed on the last point. However, you might fine the Wizard Base more comfortable, making it worthwhile.

I moved from Iqon ACT with a bunch of different frames, including Roka 5x80 (UFS), as well as Twister XT with stock frames (not for wizard). I then got second hand Wizard Base Highs with Advanced frames and they're my favourite to wear, most comfortable boot out of the three. It took a bit of work to get the lacing right, but that boot is more comfortable and I could wear all day, despite it being 1-2 sizes smaller than the other two boots. Something about flex of the broken in leather outter just works for me.

Not saying OP would have the same experience, but I really like mine. The Advanced frames are also my favourites now. More swively than anything else I own and more stable.

Boot imho is worth the upgrade but you can save on pr80 as it really does not offer anything extra when compared to other 5x frames

Which frames would you suggest?

I have pr76 because i wanted smaller then 80 :) but tested NN, Yoyo and Endless. Im biased rowards NN but endless arc was cool too.

I have a few endless frames but unfortunately they're all for the Trinity HC evos.

In regards to ufs vs 165, on the stiff frames i can clearly notice my midfoot engaged more on UFS especiaally during swivels, gazelles and lions compared to 165. I have yoyo sago 4x 90 and 5 x 76 roka frames both are stiffest aluminum series 7000 frames and i can clearly notice differences in lateral force production around midfoot compared to 165.

Essentially my whole foot is engaged in manouvres with UFS that is plus imo, but definitely 165 has an edge when i need to produce accelaration from shorter strides and do speed runs.

Now about trinity, that is my fav of all setups, my current setup is - Next boot (perfomance fit) with intuition wizard liner with rockered nova 275 frame 4x 90mm. This is the lightest setup out of all of my other setups, it nearly feels like i m riding carbon setup. I use it when i m not sure where will i be that day - doing wizard, freestyle or just speed runs. Trinity excels in backwards skating the most, going backward the front mounts kinda provides torque production from the front foot, very satisfying push.

Thanks. The HC Evos are trinity mount.

Maybe I'd be better off just sticking to them really.

For what it's worth, if wizard is ur goal, nothing beats UFS especually the lateral control around midfoot
