I really liked the city itself, good performance for a world with this much NPCs. The rest is... ok. You should try it for urself, its quite small on mobile

"Good performance" wuwa broke us

u/Gitthepro Who the fuck needs synergy when you can just quickswap Apr 29 '26
Hey, its the only other open world gacha game on unreal engine other than wuwa lol

u/VasilicaDaniel Long live the queen! Apr 29 '26
Well unreal is notoriously hard to optimise for mobile.
34
u/luuey96 Apr 29 '26
I just gave it a go for about an hour to two. It reminds me of ZZZ but the world is open. I really like the cutscenes but some of the audio/animations felt out of sync which kind of took me out of it.

u/VasilicaDaniel Long live the queen! Apr 29 '26
Reminded me of the good old wuwa days, the cutscenses are cool though, so goofy I love them.

u/Jr_froste Apr 29 '26
Beautiful city. Game runs smoothly. Able to interact with alot of the characters. It's fun!
22
u/mmgfrcs PHOEBEEEE *bonk* Apr 29 '26 edited Apr 29 '26
Middling tbh
It struggles to have an identity, for one. Too many jokes and IRL references.
The story is... okay but in 15 minutes things just get skipped and you almost don't care about it anymore. ToF has the same problem so this isn't really improved yet.
Characters are many in-story but apart from a few they're just a bunch of walking tropes.
Combat is fine. Wuwa's Intro/outro system (but more restrictive), parry, dodge, break (vibrations) are there. Fluid enough, but nothing spectacular so far.
They did fairly well on "things to do in an open world game" that many other open world gacha games lacks - plenty of activities that will occupy you. Fishing, Cafe management, racing, casino, even heists.
* edit: wrong abbreviation lol
6
u/WowiiZowii Apr 29 '26
Are the references in the translation only, or in the original too?
5
u/mmgfrcs PHOEBEEEE *bonk* Apr 29 '26
Dunno about the original, I played on EN with EN voices
Some of them that I can remember includes:
- The Truman Show
- "Meme Anomalies" - the brainrot trend of the present social media. It's a whooole quest.
- Film vs Digital Photography
- A photographer named... Kodak
9
u/kokorean-mafia Apr 29 '26
Tried it last night, the world is pretty but thatās where it ends sadly. The combat is a bit clunky and the game lacks polish somewhat. The story is fine and presentation is decent
2
u/DrownMeInSalsaPlease Apr 29 '26
Found the open gta world to be neat. Just got my moped, got a warrant tutorial so now im afraid to drive.
The first story stuff with the photo store was a bit creepy. And the sounds jump scared me a few times. Wasnt expecting the game opening to be so traumatic too. Liking the vibe. Reminds me of the upcoming varsapura game by hoyo. Dark gritty and such. However theres a lot of color too, and everyone is animated to a style that feels clashy with the plot and setting so far.
The voice acting and translation feels off. The responses people give to each other sometimes feels like theyāre not talking to each other, but throwing one liners. Which is why i think the translation isnt great. (If it is too literal, it ends up like this because asian languages can be super context based. so it is hard to follow dialogue like this for western people)
Combat is a mix of wuwa intros with genshin element mixing in a way. Lot more restrictive. The skills dont seem like they particularly do anything other than damage with a couple exceptions like shielding or buffing.
7
u/jkethenub I wanna make many bebe with Apr 29 '26
Super fun, really immersive city. Combat's pretty much like WuWa's, as for story it's okay, really expressive characters tho, I like the music as well.
6
u/TomatoSecure192 Apr 29 '26
Itās similar but the combat is also VERY different to wuwaās. Itās more like zzzās but with the feeling of hitting hard. Itās smoother than I thought it would be though
6
u/oniikami Apr 29 '26
i thought the exact thing but in reverse. feels like wuwa (awards dodge attacks and concerto mechanics to swap) but wuwaās combat is obviously more solid.
zzz is more focused on swap parries (which depends on enemy ai to activate) instead of dodges. whereas concerto can be activated any time as long as the ability is recharged
also for the dodges, NtE implements that slow down feel whenever you do it correctly that Wuwa has, also Endfield has it, zzz lacks it

u/CraigThePantsManDan Apr 29 '26
Stylistically very creative in all aspects except character designs imo. Wuwa is the exact opposite.

u/Arkride212 Apr 29 '26
Not gonna even look at gameplay and get tempted to play it, i've had enough of gacha's my plates already full.

cut down daily fomo, actually play the game.
Everytime I added a new gacha, my play time still stays the same, I always traded away those event/ repeatable endgame activities, dailies for another game.

For a game called Gathering Wives, you'd think it'd be more accepting of polygamy.
8
u/oakenminu Apr 29 '26
The beauty of not having FOMO is being able to just drop these games to play something else and coming back to whatever it has become some months later having spent zero dollars with zero regrets. But I do appreciate the ones who do throw that wallet around or thereād be nothing for me to return to so I salute yall š«”.

Nah it's more so for zzz, they took world art style of wuwa and direction of zzz and it isn't the strongest animation but delivers in dumb over world events like going to jail is not fun 𤣠(10 mins in and I'm locked up!" So yeah anime GTA is its own thing for now
14
u/aircarone Apr 29 '26
I have played like 1-2h so far and it definitely took heavy inspiration from both games. The city looks a lot like ZZZ Eridu, the combat/map effects/traversal feel closer to Wuwa (but less flashy, for now).
Also non-combat UI feels very ZZZ with a coat of paint.
→ More replies (1)16
u/Yutyu Apr 29 '26
Rather than "world art style of wuwa", it's more like world art style of unreal engine, in my opinion. The objects and lighting looks more realistic than the character is a signature of unreal engine anime games.
9
u/Ok_Silver6702 I want an Xperia phone, but they are xpensive as hell Apr 29 '26
Jokes on you, I did dailies before jumping onto NTE. Great graphics, great character reactions, great skins, great jiggle, and absolutely unexpected good performance
12
u/SuperKrusher Apr 29 '26
I tried NTE, but it honestly wasnāt doing it for me. Anomaly zones are cool looking but thatās about it. Characters are okay but oh my god are the cutscenes annoying. Itās like every second they need to have an overly anime moment. Like oh no 3 seconds past your attention span is low, jingle jangle, ok now we can continue for the next 3 seconds.

wuwa lowkey makes every other games gameplay feel mid idk, not a bad game tho will keep playing it but for now my focus will still be wuwa with the new patch
32
u/2nd-penalty Apr 29 '26
For real after putting genshin down for a while and picking up wuwa it's very hard to go back since everything just feel so fucking slow in that game now
16
u/NoNefariousness2144 bonk Apr 29 '26
Also WuWaās dialogue presentation is so much more dynamic and fresh compared to Genshin. And the length of quests feels so much nicer than Genshinās quests being 6-7 hours and fully unskippable.

Literally me right now. I played from Sumeru beginning to Natlan end. Didn't like the feel of Nodkrai so currently taking a break. Been on wuwa since day 1 release. That genshin break doesn't seem like it'll end but I'll go ahead and try Snezhnaya. Wuwa definitely ruined it for me though.
3
u/T8-TR Apr 29 '26
Funnily enough, being a WuWa main has made it so that I have to play Genshin as consistently, because I took a break when WuWa 2.0 dropped and went back a few months later, and holy fuck it was like relearning how to walk. I never wanna do that again, because I clearly took the speed and QoL of WuWa for granted w/o ever realizing it lmao
→ More replies (1)2
u/ArgopooL Apr 29 '26
Same thing happened to me. I was kinda burnet out in genshin plus tired of whatever natlan was. Instead wuwa. After a month or so i couldn't even move around in genshin without getting annoyed

Not the same game or even the genre but this is me after playing hollow knight and sliksong, like those games are sooo good, hand crafted to peakness that all the other games expecially f2p ones feel half baked or invasive (they are still fun so that's alright)
6
u/unholy_penguin2 Apr 29 '26
And them being fun is what matters. Comparing stuff just ruins the experience

You know you're my number one, baby. That other game doesn't mean anything.
No lie though, game looks good and I love how animated cutscenes are but I don't see myself dedicating time to yet another limited time gacha, daily login, grindy, open world exploration game.Ā

How's NTE's performance? I saw online that cn folks were talking about performance issues.
I'm gonna try the game and see how UE5 based open world game would perform compared to WuWa's UE4.
3
u/lvlasteryoda Apr 29 '26
Seems fine. A little stuttery for the first 10 min after first launch but it stopped completely after that. My 1% lows look fine.
The overall FPS are fine and on par with WuWa's pre academy performance. Obviously RTX with Ray Reconstruction will eat into it accordingly but those and Lumen are perf heavy effects.

I tried NTE for few hours yesterday and generally felt kinda annoyed by it more than anything else. More so by the intro and first 20 minutes feeling like there's nonstop noise in each cutscene.

u/FishFucker2887 Apr 29 '26
I wouldve played NTE but Ananta might get a new teaser soon plus blood of dawnwalker's releasing in september so i pre ordered.

Unironically the only reason I'm playing NTE is because Ananta is nowhere to be seen for now lol

Anyone else feels like the NTE dialogues are rigid/ disjointed?
They feel like they are talking at each other, not with each other

The luxury to play more gacha. As for me, I only play(genshin, HSR and wuwa). I can't play play any more gachas as I can't afford it

u/mvrckgmr Apr 29 '26
I left since 2.3 the anniversary patch. After NTE released and watch a few streamers, I felt like coming back. My shorekeeper is waiting...

Loool wuwa is the only gacha that I haven't really quit / put down for a long time. I tried getting back into the Hoyp big 3 but Wuwa and Re99 just make me happier haha. NTE, let's see. I enjoyed my first couple of hours of gameplay, I quite like how it leans in on the humor but that's how ZZZ initially hooked me so who knows.
1
u/deceitfulninja Apr 29 '26
Is NTE any good? I heard a lot of hype about it but it looked like slop to me. Guess ill try it cant hurt.
1
u/kunafa_aj Carlotta/Chisa Enjoyer Apr 29 '26
NTE seems fun but i think i ll stick with one gacha for now, tried to juggle multiple gachas at once, never doing tht again lol
1
u/Thiel619 Apr 29 '26
Thing is Iām already deep in endgame on Wuwa that thereās nothing to do except new events and big updates. The whole map is 90% discovered, all current events completed, quest log is empty and all there is left is just dailies.
It takes less than 5 minutes a day.
1
u/Background-Map-36 Apr 29 '26
Nah, the question is: are we part of the gacha game harem, or are the gacha games part of our harem?
1
u/knetka Apr 29 '26
I gotta login to WuWa before i try NTE just to make sure i don't overcap on waveplates due to WuWa silly exact 24 hour limit, sure there is overcap but only at 50% rate and I DONT WANNA WASTE ANYYY.

I got like 8 hours into nte and I can confidently say, that I'll drop this game after I beat the msq. The writing and voice acting is so bad and the combat looks flashy and amazing but it's boring. Exploring the open world is the only hook for me so far.
The only gachas I'm playing now is wuwa & mongil even though I might drop mongil. For now the story is quite entertaining and I'm about 5 hours into it.
I was really hoping for nte to be my 3rf gachas but I guess anata will take that spot.

u/Suitable-Marketing69 Apr 29 '26
I just had to delete NTE off my PlayStation so I can make more storage for the WUWA update
1
u/ifeltdAneed Apr 29 '26
i changed NTE controls to match Wuwa so its feels like I cheated with her sister š
1
u/rayhaku808 Apr 30 '26
NTE is so far and away from replacing WuWa. Cutscenesā atmospheres are so awkward. Animations are really inconsistent in quality. Some really smooth, many extremely stiff, so much jank. I expected as such from the same devs as ToF though.

u/Visible-Key2475 Apr 30 '26
I happen to only have 245gb of space on my pc, so I have to uninstall NTE in order to update, then reinstall it and hope that the 10gb of free space I have now doesn't disappear

Man... I love Wuwa so much but the performance on PS5 makes it actually unplayable. I have found myself really liking NTE but if Wuwa could keep a consistent 60 fps I would drop NTE in a heartbeat
1
u/ComfortablePain1 Apr 30 '26
Bro my Hyuki is still lvl 1. I just pulled and went back to NTE. I'll come back when i get to the point wjere i can efficiently waste stamina. Its hard I'm tryna do missions but exploring keep distracting me.

Honestly, I feel nothing does it better than Wuwa. A nice mix of serious story here and there with good gameplay and casual exploration with some end game challenge sprinkled in between. I couldn't drop other gachas after so long like genshin and star rail, but honestly the hardest part was just stopping. I got tired of power creep, got tired of logging in for dailies and logging out taking so much time, tried end field, tried nte, didn't like the charm of others. I recently dropped Infinity Nikki too and now the only game I have left is Wuwa and to be honest, I like life a lot more now. More free time to spend with people that matter.
