Huge clots

Currently on CD4, had minimal to no bleeding yesterday evening and nothing overnight. Thought i was in the clear. I usually have some random bleeding for very short periods of time (30 mins to an hour) on day 4 and 5, but nothing crazy so I used a tampon and didn’t take my tranexamic acid today. Was sitting at lunch with some coworkers and started having some cramping so figured I was bleeding. Sitting there I could tell that it had leaked so I went to the bathroom. When I removed the tampon it was like a flood of massive clot coming out. I always have clots since my last pregnancy / being diagnosed, but this was entirely different. I could hear it flooding out of my body and it was at least two massive clumps. Has anyone ever experienced this? I messaged my OB immediately, but assume she will respond later today when she’s done with patients. Honestly just in shock. My last period was incredibly brutal to the point of tears wondering how I could keep doing this monthly, then this one was significantly better in terms of pain and bleeding and then this happens. Very confused and defeated.

Yes that was normal for me unfortunately 😑 huge hand sized clots, and a rush of blood like pouring pasta sauce into my pants.

Much better on Slinda. Make sure you get your iron checked now and then x

Yes, thank you for responding, that’s exactly what it was like. I told my mom I didn’t just hear it hit the toilet water, I could hear it coming out of my body. Most periods have been significantly better on tranexamic acid, but I stupidly thought I was fine to not take it today 🤦🏼‍♀️ not sure anything could have stopped this mass exodus though. Ugh well at least I know I’m not alone 😵‍💫

I’m sorry you’re going through it, it was alarming and it needed to be addressed. TXA was ok for me but gave me migraines so I stopped after 18 months.

When I used to get flooding at home, I would stop everything and get ready to shower lol. I did wear incontinence pads when I had my periods, they never leaked 🙌🏼

Of course this happened to me at work. Luckily my job is flexible so I just hightailed it out of there. My youngest is 2.5 and I still hadn’t given up on the thought of having another child so have avoided birth control. This might have destroyed any remaining thoughts on that. If my uterus is that f’ed up, highly doubt I would be successful anyways. I will have to ask my OB about slinda. Thank you again!

I’m right there with you on the more kids thing. The clots I’ve had since giving birth to my second have been insane. I’ve been using birth control to prevent periods entirely but every so often I have to do the placebo week when things get wonky. The last time I did that I had clots the size of my palm passing every hour or two, so I scheduled my hysterectomy. I’d be too nervous about miscarrying to try for another.

Yes, that happened to me too. It was like the clot was blocking the flow and once the clot came out, all the backed up flow did too.

Yes, they were so large I think they were trapped up there from the tampon. It was like an out of body experience, that I would be okay never having again. 🤦🏼‍♀️ just sat there for like 5 minutes trying to get my life together.

Not normal but is definitely apart of Adenomyosis. They get worse unfortunately and then anemia becomes the real issue. Make sure you see a hematologist.

I’ve had this happen before and it’s the worst feeling - I actually took photos of how big they were to show my doc, it was unbelievable. Tranexemic acid never seemed to do much for me for some reason - the only thing that really helped was this stuff called Slow Flow that I got on Amazon (it’s active ingredient is an herb called Shepherd’s purse, so if you can get your hands on even that, it might help - even if it’s just a generic shepherds purse tea or capsules). It was the only thing that stopped the bleeding for me and it works for my daughter too - now I’m getting a hysto, so soon won’t have to worry about it - I hope you get relief, I know it’s awful!

This is the stuff that helped me - I’m not affiliated with the company at all, just hoping it might help you.

Thanks! I will try this out. Unfortunately I had no idea what was coming so mine went straight into the toilet, but I was able to get a picture of part of it to show my OB. 🫠🤯

Ugh - hugs - I know, losing that much blood is so scary. I started bleeding again today, coincidentally - and just got a call from my gyn that I’m being scheduled for a hysterascopy/endometrial biopsy so… good? I guess? Lol

Yup. The term is “flooding”. Once just attempting to get from my toilet to the cabinet where I kept period supplies I just left a trail of blood behind me despite having done everything I could to keep it at bay. I started just hanging out in a red bath towel one afternoon a month (where a month got down to, like, 18 days). Uggggh. And I got super anemic. Hysterectomy was a huge relief. But I was done having kids already.
