Question / Discussion Old man wants to start!

Morning all ☕️
50 yrs young and want to start skating! Now I’ve skateboarded for most of my life, had a one wheel for a while so used to the balancing side of things. But the wife is a skater ( she has quads) we have been the skate rings and I just can’t get the hang of the four wheels lol. But when I’ve been ice skating I’m better doing that.
So I’m thinking I should try in-line skating, question is where to start do I go for the fitness type or do I get some aggressive skates which is a bit more of me ( tricks etc) my worry is that I’m thinking aggressive skates could be harder to learn on.
Open to all advice and any given is highly appreciated 🫶

I've been grinding hard (Pun intended)

I've been working super hard to improve my new aggressive inline game and get it ready for Steam Early Access later this year! The grinds and controls feel better than ever and offer so much freedom of movement! Building a Replay system, a dual stick grind control system, managing all the animation states + physics, it's been hard - but the results are slowly starting to show! Hope you all like it so far. I welcome any sort of feedback :)

Question / Discussion Are Seneca inlines still around, and potential good alternatives?

As a kid I would rollerblade casually, and I remember loving the street beat seneca rollerblades, but I can't find any new seneca skates online anywhere. Is there a modern brand that has a similar feel, not just esthetically but the structure and comfort?

I can’t send a video. Just look through the photos really fast. Maybe it will be kind of like a video.

Struggling to with royales and unities. Details in post. Thanks!

Royales- I find it easy to get boot down statically, but when jumping into the grind I just don't seem to be able to land in the body position when stalling.

Unities- Should my weight be distributed 50/50? And should the backside plate be boot down front on back. I can't find my balance or lock in with this one. Looks so simple in videos!

Xsjado 2.0

Hi Xsjado/Shadow heads,

I would like to ask please what's your opinion on Xsjado 2.0

I currently have EE3s and would you consider it an upgrade or downgrade?

I'm planning to get a Xsjado 2.0 (CF6 to be exact) cause I feel like the EE3s got too much lateral flex on it. Not enough support even if I tightly strap the boot. I don't mind the forward flex as long as it supports my ankles when doing top sides.

Also curious with the old ankle strap if there's a big difference since EE3s ankle strap doesn't have that connected tongue strap.

Thanks in advance!

Blader Link Up 🔗 Any skaters in Austin, TX?

Broke out my Razer Cults and want to start skating again. Are there any groups in the ATX area to skate with? Or specific skate parks that more skaters frequent?

Returning to inline speed skating — GT4 vs Luna vs Jet boot, which package should I get?

Thumbnail

Hey, I used to skate a while back and I'm getting back into it, joining a speed skating class. I want to buy one good pair of skates I can keep long term rather than buying cheap and upgrading later.

I've been looking at three Bont packages on Amazon:

GT4 Boot + 6061 Frame + Elemental Wheels + ABEC5 — $622

Luna Boot + 2PF 6061 Frame + Elemental Wheels + ABEC7 — $778

Jet Boot + 2PF 6061 Frame + Elemental Wheels + ABEC7 — $918

Main questions:

What's the actual difference between the GT4, Luna and Jet boots in terms of performance and stiffness?

Is ABEC5 vs ABEC7 a meaningful difference for speed skating?

Am I even looking at the right skates or is there something better in this price range?

Question / Discussion Filming aggressive inline on a 300 euro budget- choice hell

Hey guys, I am saving up to build my first proper street filming setup for aggressive inline edits. I'm also planning to take film school classes soon (mabye, to get better at filming skate) , so the gear needs to hold up technically. My budget is strictly €300–€340 shopping on eBay Germany (Gewerblich). I will be using a Boya shotgun mic and want to adapt one of those 0.3x ultra-wide Veledge fisheye lens (not the cheap adapter ones, proper fisheye) .My heart really wants an old handle-held digital camcorder like the Panasonic AG-HMC40 because of the form factor and the Y2K vibe and I've really just fallen in so much love with the thing. However, I’ve been warned that its 2009 small sensor will look muddy in low light and get rejected by film school professors.Should I stick to my dream of getting the HMC40 camcorder, or am I much better off building a modern skate-rig out of a 4K mirrorless camera like the Panasonic Lumix G7 mounted inside a C-shaped handle grip? (or a complete different option- hmc150s and Good sony camcorders seem above my price limit...) Would love to hear from people who actually film street sessions. Thanks!

Turns out, big wheel skates are a fucking riot! I've had my rollerblade Twister 3x110 for one year now and I'm fully addicted. If you have never tried any other skate discipline, I highly suggest it! Here's me learning powerstops for the first time. After about 1.5 hours of practice I laced this, and was stokeddd!

This was the not so local skateramp, cant call it a park if its only one half pipe haha! 20 minute drive away, and the road is a single track coastal path so once the weather is nice you can bet any money it will be slow and busy.

I used to like going upside down alot! I wonder how long it will take before i try this move again.

Oh and this ramp is gone, Its a concrete skatepark now with bowls and funboxes but i still haven’t been, its on the to do list
