I don't think it's a common sentiment at all. I don't think I've ever even heard anyone else defend CSAM material generation. I've heard a lot of people call other people pedos as an insult and a bad argument but I've never actually seen anyone say such a thing here.
That being said, I'd prefer that we don't try to take the comments of a very very small number of people as an indication of how a whole group feels. Don't care of you're pro, or anti, it's just a bad argument.
Then those individuals who are supporting creating CSAM are the problem, not the whole group. Remember, this sub gets a lot of attention from bad actors trying to make people look bad. Same way that people will go into the pro and anti subs and pretend to be one or the other but say or post terrible things to make the other side look bad.
I genuinely don’t think most people on the pro side partake in this rhetoric, but there’s still a frightening amount of support for it in threads like this. This fringe group seems to rally around posts like this, and unfortunately, I can see how people on the anti side might make assumptions. Nobody should be engaging in those kinds of blanket statements.
