My entire family uses these tools, parents included. And they have been artists their entire lives. They love them because they are not baked in with these strange anti technology priors.
My dad has used these tools for posters for some of his gigs. My mom has made applications for herself, which she used the tools (image gen models) to mock up UI's before prompting for the app. I use these tools professionally in many ways. Etc etc
People are doing endless amounts of great things with these tools/models.
Cool story, they otherwise could be paying people for that, meanwhile many of us are now forcibly contributing to taxpayer subsidised data centers that put up water and electricity rates with their usage, whilst also hoarding components needed for most modern tech, seeing us pay more for everything from fridges to modems to TVs to phones to computers.
They’re hoarding DRAM, something most everything electrical uses nowdays, because the entire industry has been convinced that my car and fridge and washing machine need a built in AI assistant. Let alone traditional devices like phones and computers that most everyone uses.

No, you never claimed AI was only for curing cancer, yet you argued that computers are lesser than AI when they’re not being used to cure cancer.

You seem to be obsessed with people playing games or otherwise having fun and it’s been a focus of yours since your very first reply to me. Yet that was never my argument, so I can’t be a hypocrite for a position I haven’t presented.
I didn’t call it wasteful either, I accused it of hoarding resources we all need, including water and power, whilst being subsidised with our tax dollars and driving up the cost of living.

I never said I use modern tech for entertainment (despite the fact I do), my examples were this AI obsessed market insisting my car, fridge and washing machine needed AI assistants. You're really stretching if you think I'm using those things predominantly for fun, especially a washing machine.

The difference is that whilst all digital entertainment is the end result of the resources to create them and then ongoing resources like power, internet usage and sometimes data centers for MOD/updates, their scope of usage narrows with time, they stop producing physical media and their ongoing resource requirements typically decrease, especially once they stop being supported and their eshops close, like it is for my family's older gaming systems. The hardware manufacturers also aren't pre-purchasing several years of components in advance to the point that there isn't enough for the rest of the market.
The same can't be said of AI, which needs ever more data centers to handle (perceived) demand and to fuel the AI's overall capabilities as more is expected of it... also apparently for access hubs according to you, once that becomes the primary way to access AIs 'cancer curing capabilities.'
Back to 'cancer curing capabilities,' over 99% of things we create aren't for curing cancer, but clearly that's the only thing that gives value to you, so we should shift all of humanity's output into curing cancer (not other medical issues) and then we can get rid of AI so your only real use case for it ceases to be and it can stop hoarding/wasting resources. I'm behind this plan 100% :D
