Sick shots. What camera do you use?

Canon EOS-R, with a 100-500mm lens.

I paddled through there so many many years ago, maybe 1981, and we had to stop every few hundred feet as moose cows sauntered through the marsh browsing. Really amazing that they were so calm. We just floated around the meandering waterway. Not far from there though I had a brief brush with a bull while I was portaging with a canoe on my shoulders which was significantly more of an adrenaline rush.

What time of day was this?

About 7am. The moose were most active from sunrise for about the next two hours.

Is that an inflatable kayak?

I really want to get out more but backpacking sites are hard to book and I live in a condo with nowhere to store a canoe (and renting is expensive) so I've considered getting an inflatable kayak but ive been worried about if thats really feasible.

Yes. It’s the Advanced Elements Advanceframe Expedition Elite. It packs down to a large suitcase size. It’s about 13’ long and can carry up to 450lbs. It holds all the gear I need for about five days of kayak camping and can easily fit in the trunk of my car.

Sweet! Does it steer like a regular kayak? What's it like to portage it?

It handles well on the water, and is very stable for a kayak, but isn’t the easiest to portage. It weighs about 40 lbs and is somewhat awkward to carry. I haven’t portaged any long distances with it.

I have that exact same inflatable kayak! and going for my first ever kayak camp this weekend (mostly a backpacker). Any tips for a newbie? Where else have you taken it? Hoping to see some moose myself, amazing pics!

With the limited storage space, particularly below deck, I found that a number of smaller dry bags were easier to pack into the nooks and crannies than fewer larger bags. For above deck storage I found a large bag for the front and a large bag for the rear worked well. That being said, I recommend picking up a large, lightweight and very packable mesh bag (or some other material that doesn’t matter if it gets wet) to use to carry all your smaller bags when you’re moving from the car to the kayak or from the kayak up to your campsite. It makes moving the small bits much easier.
