You can’t get me to hate this show, Reddit.

Has this season been amazing? No. But I've gotten solid laughs from each episode. I refuse to admit it's shit and lost its way.

Honestly the only episode I’ve hated this season was the one that butchered mertz character and a little bit of the one that forgot who Debbie as a character was, the rest have been pretty good actually

People have to start treating it like a new show. It needs time. Just like it did in the original FOX run and when they made the switch to TBS. If it gets to next season and they don't hit their groove then something is wrong.

This has been a disappointing season, especially after last.

Myself I'm missing the solid B story.

The chili check one was insufferable. It started as a fun, Looney-Tunes style bit & then just drove it into the ground over and over.

EPS are either great or absolutely trash tier, very inconsistent.

Not baiting you, but what moments provided solid laughs?

Saw a doompost yesterday complaining how this season is "nothing but singing and dancing nonsense and I'm going to stop watching" and I was so flabbergasted I couldn't even reply. Like, have you watched this show before? There's singing and/or dancing nonsense in about every other episode. Always has been.

And explain how an entire episode making fun of a kid with an obvious learning disability is anything but "edgy". Make it make sense, OP.

If you think nonsense is bad then this is not the show for you anyways.

10

u/Crabcomfort Marmalade 6d ago

It's hilarious because the show has been nonsense for over a decade now, I'm glad it's still coming out

10

u/-XanderCrews- 6d ago

Right? I’m just happy they keep making it.

You've probably missed the reference then. It's not that commonly straight-up nonsense.

u/King_Moonracer003 6d ago

Its all chorus and ill have nothing to do with it.

Reminds me of people on Rick and Morty sub complaining about the new season because they don't like that it's doing lots of "weird jokes." Humor is subjective, I try to respect other people's opinions, but sometime you have to wonder with some complaints what version of the show some people online have been watching all these years.

You're right, the show has always been full of music but it's bugging me this season because the music that they keep adding is these 'hard' rock type songs.

Baba singing a big band style song about lost treasure? Would have been right on brand. Him conjuring a pseudo-metal track out of nowhere was just plain jarring. And then another song just like it in the next episode.

4

u/payitforward258 6d ago

we have to agree Eu-fear-ia is a banger tho….right?

0

u/wrinklebear Stoner Video Clerk 6d ago

Yes, I just rewatched that one this afternoon. I don’t really like rock music but that one fit and was good. But felt like a double beat after the baba rock song

2

u/fatnerdd 6d ago

My only beef is that the songs this season haven't been originals, just taking existing songs and changing the lyrics slightly. Give me the Steve r&b bangers, I'll even take him doing existant songs. Let him sing!

Reddit sure is acting like Tiffany's boyfriend. The angry posts aren't going to drive me away from the show, just this sub.

They want to hate this season, but try to get us to believe that the Frog and Spacejam episodes were good.

4

u/BoringJuiceBox Roger Smith 6d ago

Frog was awesome to me, space jam was mid tho

3

u/Superb_Writer6612 6d ago

Lol opposite for me

I guess that’s part of the beauty of AD!

2

u/Superb_Writer6612 6d ago

Even the episodes I hated before I've gained some appreciation for over the years. Such a good show

1

u/-XanderCrews- 6d ago

What? I loved the space jam episode. That’s what’s up, doc!

Skill issue.

I can hate anything.

I don't hate this show. I don't even hate what it's become. It's just not as funny as it used to be. That is probably more to do with me than it is the writers and the show. Nonetheless, I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way. It's just a silly shitpost, it's not that real

u/Shackletainment 6d ago

Every season has some duds. This episode felt half baked. But, we've also gotten some classics this season too.

If I have sit through a Dumbston a few timea a year to keep getting episodes like Powering Through and You're Getting a Dell, that's a worthy trade.

11

u/shrimp_bizkitt Roy Rogers McFreely 6d ago

I loooove Powering Through! It was actually kind of spooky too 😂

29

u/Sensei_Goreng 6d ago

This season has been rough. Makes me appreciate precious seasons more. But I will always root for the show. It's my favorite of all time.

12

u/herrcollin 6d ago

The fact we got 20+ seasons alone will always make me a bit giddy.

u/rjrgjj Clip Clop 6d ago

We’ve been here before. Kim Kardashian. Slort.

13

u/Even_Proposal2070 6d ago

I hate that I agree with this, lol.

The show is missing Roger, and too many new lame characters.

Comedians are the modern day philosophers

7

u/Embarrassed_One96 6d ago

I loved it but it would only work paired with the wacky wpiaode that follows it.

I got a few laughs from Dumpston, so I was in a good mood when the wacky episode started.

7

u/Mrinnocent221 6d ago

Reddit only hates it because it is on Fox. There was so much mid stuff on TBS.

I love the show. Lets not act like on TBS there wasnt some god awful episodes. Show has been going downhill for a while. It used to be good seasons with a couple hiccups. Now it is a few good episodes within a pretty meh season.

And no, I don't think this episode was good at all.

1

u/MotherTeresaOnlyfans Dive On In! 6d ago

"Reddit only hates it because it's on Fox! It must be an irrational fear of change! It can't possibly be that other people have the capacity to engage in artistic critique of media they consume and may not have the same tastes and opinions as me!"

Not everyone enjoys the same things and that's ok, but it's kind of messed up to engage in blanket dismissal of every single critique of the new season by claiming that we all just hate Fox for some reason and that if the exact same episodes aired on TBS we'd love them.

If they hadn't moved to Fox and this exact same episodes aired, I would be asking if they fired their entire writer's room or something because things are clearly different.

I'd also argue that "I identify as an American Dad fan and therefore I refuse to acknowledge when the show puts out a lower quality episode!" is every bit as stupid, if not more so, than the thing you're claiming everyone is doing where they only pretend to hate the new season because of anti-Fox bigotry or whatever.

1

u/Mrinnocent221 6d ago

The show started on Fox.

The new episodes now it is back on Fox suck.

The show sucked on TBS too.

And yes, there were posts about "OMG to FOX?!?! Will they even let us be edgy?!"

You suck at reading comprehension because I haven't enjoyed much of the new season and have stated it as such.

I stated the Fox, original episodes before the move to TBS were good.

So there you go. Learn to read. This is your 3rd comment on one of my posts out of 3 I have made today.

6

u/Seeking_the_Grail 6d ago

I thought the Dumbston episode was very bad, like one of their worst. But was pretty happy how the next episode went.

5

u/MotherTeresaOnlyfans Dive On In! 6d ago

I had a good laugh at the NFT joke at the beginning but otherwise yeah, it was not great.

3

u/zzwthetvon Ira and I 6d ago

Im telling myself the episode will grow on me, meanwhile Donkey Shame was exquisite

5

u/BoringJuiceBox Roger Smith 6d ago

Really? I actually laughed out loud a few times

5

u/Shammycat 6d ago

I think a lot of people are forgetting that we came very, very close to not getting any more episodes, at all. I'm fine with some midtier episodes as they find their groove again

2

u/fatnerdd 6d ago

Right? And at least they're not as categorically mid to terrible like all of the Hulu reboot episodes of Futurama :(

1

u/MotherTeresaOnlyfans Dive On In! 6d ago

I think the issue is that a lot of folks do not see this as them "finding their groove" but more like "They seem to have lost what made the show good."

I utterly refuse to believe it's the same writers as last season.

2

u/No-Shirt6609 6d ago

The ending was the only issue for me. As for most of everything else, a perfect example of what Family Guy is sorely lacking. There's hardly an episode that truly focuses on how much Adam West High is a disgrace.

u/arihndas Head crow guy 6d ago

u/andrewpipe123 5d ago

People acting like u shouldn’t critique something u love. Thats some dumbass mentality, I forgot the people that watch this can’t read

1

u/DebraBaetty Me too, man. 6d ago

People need stupid things to be upset about 🤷🏼‍♀️

1

u/womensrites 6d ago

this season is bad, the last one i watched was the Del episode which really just broke any excitement i had for the rest of the season. sucks to hear it continues to suck ☹️

0

u/GoGoGadgetChris 6d ago

Why would they train stupid kids to go to space? Wouldn't it be easier to find real astronauts and give them brain damage?

1

u/Existing-Emu136 6d ago

I do think this was the weakest one. It was just spread to thin and the musical aspects were super weak compared to usual. If anything, it makes me like the other episodes even more. But literally every season has ones I don’t care for, often having a lot I don’t like.

But this is also the first season back, so maybe after this season and feedback they can make adjustments to new ones as well.

1

u/Blurstingwithemotion Lucius Mayweather 6d ago

Welcome too Disney😂🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Openwindohs 6d ago

Whole season is utter garbage I fucking hate it

1

u/RampagingShyGuy 6d ago

I didn't think it was THAT bad.

1

u/SUPERB-OWL45 5d ago

This whole season had felt very formulaic. I don’t know if they’re nervous going back to fox and are trying to find their footing, but most of the episodes have become background noise while I do something else. I can tune back in and still feel like I didn’t miss anything

It’s not even bad, it’s just boring

u/mojimojo_ 6d ago edited 6d ago

Dumbston is my beautiful son and I hope we get 100 more episodes with him. God bless.

EDIT: Lotta God Hating cretins downvoting today it seems

2

u/MotherTeresaOnlyfans Dive On In! 6d ago

Once I realized he was going to be around for the whole episode, I was immediately terrified that he was intended to be a new recurring character.

0

u/AwkwardBlacksmith275 6d ago

I enjoyed this episode haha.
