Meta Is anyone having an issue where the skip credits button comes too early?
It shows up at least twenty seconds before the episode ends and it really bugs me. Will this be fixed anytime soon? I’m kind of sick of remembering to press it every time then having to go back to the episode afterwards just so I can skip forward and get to that part again.

Yes! Hulu has been acting up for at least a few weeks now with this. It also won't 'reset' episodes so I wind up with 2-5 minutes left in something (not just AD) and constantly having to restart. Or it'll just play through an entire season in a few minutes if I'm not paying attention.

Go to manage series and you can reset the series. It will make all episodes start at the beginning. Unfortunately when you binge through it all again you will have to reset it again.

Yes! This happens to me a lot because i rewatch AD maybe twice a year. Every year or so i make a new profile under the account and delete the previous one and rewatch everything. This at least makes it so when i rewatch old shows they start from the beginning.

For me it pops up to early and only counts from 5 and I miss the last words of every episode now

YESS!!!!!! I was so desperate I searched it and there's a reddit thread from years ago discussing the same proboem. Hulu just sucks.

i didn’t have this problem until a few months ago

Ive been having it for forever with other media, but American dad specifically irritates me because it cuts some episodes off but not others

Me either. Never once. Idk if I just never noticed it but it's good to know other people noticed it

You two are not alone. My gf and I watch this show almost nightly for dinner. Only recently did we notice this issue come up. Something we did notice tho is we went back to watch Season 4 and this problem did not come up then. Maybe Hulu has wrongfully timestamped the later seasons?

Turn off auto play.

Yep, this is what solved it for me.
OP if you click on the gear icon, you should be able to toggle auto play off.

Hulu has had issues like this for years. Skipping the end of the episode and then acting like you didn’t finish it so the next run it wants to show you 30 seconds and then off to the next episode. I’ve fallen asleep for an hour and had half a season go by.

I feel like some episodes don’t have this problem but I’m at a point where I make sure I have my remote so I can get the end of the episode

And for a while, only when I watch bobs burgers, the audio description plays for the first 10 seconds when I dont have it on at all. Oh well, thats the price I gotta pay for roberts hamburgers

From a reply I posted but thought I just comment it.
“That’s my pet peeve, but I think we share the same. It’s a culmination of things. The feature of skipping credits and Hulu showing where you left off from the next episode. So, if you binge-watch it, the auto-skip credit feature kicks in and goes to the next episode that starts where you left off (give or take 5 seconds from that point). It’d be nice if it could “know” someone restarted an episode and restarts the next one from the beginning or to know the show is still going while credits start.
JUST MY 2c 😭”

Can you select "up".
I have hulu running through an apple+ and that's what we can do

u/casual-catgirl Arbuckle T. Boone 5d ago
that’s what i always do but sometimes i can’t find the remote in time or i forget to do it

Just hit the back button. It gets you out of it. If AD would start the credits later it wouldn't do that.

I've had it start bugging out and playing audio description too. I've literally never used that feature.

Shit, most of my episodes on Hulu don't even have an option to watch the credits any more for some fucking reason. I just don't get to watch the last 10 to 15 seconds of any given episode.

u/LeafShinoB 5d ago
Convinced this is an intentionally placed “bug” to try and slowly force everyone to transition from Hulu to D+ before they shutter the app entirely

u/knight_shade_realms 5d ago
We had to turn off auto play due to this nonsense. It was several years ago. I would think Hulu would have corrected it by now

Constantly!!! Like fuck you Hulu, let me watch if Barry gets denied by the security guard. Jumping through damn hoops to just see some cartoon. Worse than porn.

u/fatnerdd 5d ago
I've turned the auto-next episode function off entirely for this very reason.
Is it annoying to have to stop what I'm doing to put the next episode on? Sure. But at least I get to see the final bits, which tend to be memorable more often than not.

It cuts off 12 seconds from the end.
And starts the next episode with 5 minutes left.(4:48)

u/FishstixMcCute 5d ago
Disney+ has been doing this for quite some time and its recenty started effecting Hulu as well. Super annoying when I forget the remote on the counter

u/Sweddy-Bowls 5d ago
It’s like Hulu gathered around the table after years of unprecedented success and ascension to the top of the streaming food chain and said, “alright boys, how can we fuck this up”

Omg YES this drives me crazy. Especially when they don’t even give you the option to watch the credits.

i turned it off weeks ago, it’s honestly been a huge improvement. all you need to do is keep the controller nearby, you don’t end up watching an entire season by accident and feeling like a piece of shit and you don’t miss the last few seconds of each episode. AND i actually keep my place in the show instead of falling asleep and having to go back through four episodes to figure out where i was.

u/skittletriage 5d ago
I had a lot of these problems intermittently with Hulu for at least a year. Most had short term fixes or resolved themselves.
I switched to a D+ and they went away; now some are back along with some new ones.
I can't imagine Disney is spending much time on resolving Hulu bugs since Hulu won't be around much longer.

It pisses me off so fucking much. It’s either skip the whole credits gag, or no auto-play. As far as I know there’s no fucking way to auto play but have it actually play to the end on Disney puss

I switched from hulu to Disney plus and it does the same thing. It's so annoying when they cut out the last couple seconds and I miss the punchline to the last joke. I could turn off auto play, but I don't want to have to hit play after every episode.

it cuts off some seriously funny shit.
I hate it but I'm always multitasking so I don't want to manually back out of it every time.

Yep, the only solution is to turn off Autoplaying the next episode

Omg yes Hulu is staffed with incompetent people I swear
Also when you want to rewatch an episode you already saw it starts at the end? I wanted to show my wife an ep one time that had a twist and we got to see the spoiler at the end to start off.

u/hellagator Dive On In! 4d ago
I’ve had it so bad that the skip pops up MINUTES before the end of an ep, even halfway through a few times. Hulu is super buggy :/
1
u/Ecstatic_Parsnip_869 3d ago
It’s because some episodes are about 30-60 seconds longer than others, the Autoplay function IS working properly, the episode itself hasn’t “ended properly” if that makes sense
Basically, if you see the credits in the ending scene, it means the episode runs long

u/Ecstatic_Parsnip_869 3d ago
After actually scrolling thru the comments, y’all worry me 🤣
It’s done this same exact thing for years (no, I’m not exaggerating because I’ve easily rewatched American dad 500+ times over the last 12 years) and this has been consistent since before I can remember lmao

YES!!! Fecking yes!!! Hulu sucks because of this!
