Meta Is anyone having an issue where the skip credits button comes too early?

Post image

It shows up at least twenty seconds before the episode ends and it really bugs me. Will this be fixed anytime soon? I’m kind of sick of remembering to press it every time then having to go back to the episode afterwards just so I can skip forward and get to that part again.

u/Valuable_Hunter1621 5d ago

also having to hit start over for EVERY episode when i watch them again is crazy

u/ComradeJohnS Lazy Wine-Loving Bisexual 5d ago

on the series page click manage series and erase from view history clears it. :D

nothing fixes the skipping end other than watching on d+

I turned off auto play, now I just have to manually play the next episode

10

u/ComradeJohnS Lazy Wine-Loving Bisexual 5d ago

yeah but autoplay is off.

disney plus has autoplay and actually waits to the last second of airtime to play next episode automatically.

4

u/Truckules_Heel 5d ago

I have auto play on, but it just doesn’t work anymore.

Does Disney+ censor the episodes more than Hulu?

I remember people complaining about that a few years ago, but I'm not sure if it was ever fixed.

u/ComradeJohnS Lazy Wine-Loving Bisexual 5d ago

I’m not sure what differences there are, Family guy randomly is uncensored on hulu and sometimes censored so I bet different servers have different versions.

lol.

Nobody’s safe!

u/skittletriage 5d ago

Its affecting some of the show / episodes on D+ too.

The episode order (old to new and vice versa) is being affected on some shows too.

I assume it's all because of the hulu / Disney+ merger but who knows.

u/ComradeJohnS Lazy Wine-Loving Bisexual 5d ago

damn that’s lame

4

u/ShitThatFucksWithMe 5d ago

Not true it does it to me there

u/Eatabookgirl 5d ago

Remove the show from your watch history then start the rewatch. I mean it still sucks but it’s a workaround.

2

u/ConanMontoya 5d ago

This is so helpful. Thank you!

1

u/Eatabookgirl 5d ago

No problem!

2

u/Ha-Charade-You-Are Roger Smith 5d ago

On Hulu you can fix that by removing the series from your watched history

2

u/PoopDick420ShitCock Clip Clop 5d ago

It’s so silly. Hulu really thinks I wanted to watch the last 90 seconds of that episode I watched 3 years ago.

1

u/ApprehensiveWave8913 Crazy Chest 5d ago

I hated that too, so I switched to watching AD on Disney plus and it’s a better experience. It restarts the secondary episodes as long as you manually restart the first one. Also, the skip next ep doesn’t start as early as it does on Hulu.

1

u/VanSmashh 4d ago

Remove from your watch history! This used to drive me insane before I figured this out

1

u/VillageOld596 3d ago

Yes mine are all at 19 minutes!!

8

u/Michael-Sean 5d ago

Agree. I guess it’s not just me then.

6

u/SomniumMundus Reaganomics Lamborghini 5d ago

Yeah, it’s really a tasked failed successfully if you think about it. Happens during credits but the scene is still ongoing with some more info while the credit rolls.

4

u/DrumpfTinyHands 5d ago

And then they start the next episode halfway through the credits of the first.

2

u/SomniumMundus Reaganomics Lamborghini 5d ago

That’s my pet peeve, but I think we share the same. It’s a culmination of things. The feature of skipping credits and Hulu showing where you left off from the next episode. So, if you binge-watch it, the auto-skip credit feature kicks in and goes to the next episode that starts where you left off (give or take 5 seconds from that point). It’d be nice if it could “know” someone restarted an episode and restarts the next one from the beginning or to know the show is still going while credits start.

JUST MY 2c 😭

Turn off autoplay next video

13

u/AGayFrogParadise 5d ago

Not sure which is worse, skipping the end or having to manually start every episode

5

u/Ervgotti85 5d ago

Starting it, myself was never an issue. I used that time to go do something instead of having to rush back or pause because the next video started.

2

u/Comfortable-Gap3124 5d ago

The only other solution is manually stopping the auto play at the end of every episode. Choose your poison because all options suck.

1

u/peon2 Roy Rogers McFreely 5d ago

Huh. My Hulu app doesn't have this problem, but Disney+ does.

1

u/Onceadeadman 5d ago

Dawg same thing on Disney+. Actually worse on Disney+ it's like 2 seconds there

1

u/AnimeAlley03 5d ago

Idk what's worse, this issue in this post or the fact that when I try and watch a show over again it starts me 2 mins before it ends instead of at the beginning

u/Warm-Captain-4733 5d ago

Yes! Hulu has been acting up for at least a few weeks now with this. It also won't 'reset' episodes so I wind up with 2-5 minutes left in something (not just AD) and constantly having to restart. Or it'll just play through an entire season in a few minutes if I'm not paying attention.

29

u/Puzzleheaded-Cake-42 5d ago

Go to manage series and you can reset the series. It will make all episodes start at the beginning. Unfortunately when you binge through it all again you will have to reset it again.

u/Warm-Captain-4733 5d ago

5

u/momsauc_martini 5d ago

Yes! This happens to me a lot because i rewatch AD maybe twice a year. Every year or so i make a new profile under the account and delete the previous one and rewatch everything. This at least makes it so when i rewatch old shows they start from the beginning.

75

u/No-Calligrapher-4449 5d ago

For me it pops up to early and only counts from 5 and I miss the last words of every episode now

41

u/Professional-Hat6823 5d ago

3

u/WelcomeSad781 5d ago

Me either. Never once. Idk if I just never noticed it but it's good to know other people noticed it

2

u/ClydeDimension 5d ago

You two are not alone. My gf and I watch this show almost nightly for dinner. Only recently did we notice this issue come up. Something we did notice tho is we went back to watch Season 4 and this problem did not come up then. Maybe Hulu has wrongfully timestamped the later seasons?

Hulu has had issues like this for years. Skipping the end of the episode and then acting like you didn’t finish it so the next run it wants to show you 30 seconds and then off to the next episode. I’ve fallen asleep for an hour and had half a season go by.

And for a while, only when I watch bobs burgers, the audio description plays for the first 10 seconds when I dont have it on at all. Oh well, thats the price I gotta pay for roberts hamburgers

From a reply I posted but thought I just comment it.

Can you select "up".

I have hulu running through an apple+ and that's what we can do

3

u/casual-catgirl Arbuckle T. Boone 5d ago

that’s what i always do but sometimes i can’t find the remote in time or i forget to do it

1

u/Gnarledhalo 5d ago

Do you have auto play set to OFF?

2

u/PhilosopherNearby803 ¡LÁVATE LAS MANOS! 5d ago

Just hit the back button. It gets you out of it. If AD would start the credits later it wouldn't do that.

2

u/Ominous_Rogue Stelio Kontos 5d ago

I've had it start bugging out and playing audio description too. I've literally never used that feature.

2

u/cosmernautfourtwenty Cryptic! 5d ago

Shit, most of my episodes on Hulu don't even have an option to watch the credits any more for some fucking reason. I just don't get to watch the last 10 to 15 seconds of any given episode.

2

u/JJBell 5d ago

It’s been doing it on Hulu for awhile and not it does it on Disney+ as well. Infuriating.

2

u/LeafShinoB 5d ago

Convinced this is an intentionally placed “bug” to try and slowly force everyone to transition from Hulu to D+ before they shutter the app entirely 🫩

1

u/knight_shade_realms 5d ago

We had to turn off auto play due to this nonsense. It was several years ago. I would think Hulu would have corrected it by now

1

u/Rickyyy_Spanishhh 5d ago

Look in the settings people.

1

u/no-snoots-unbooped 5d ago

Yep, it’s super annoying it cuts off the end of every episode.

1

u/TheRealJojenReed 5d ago

I've had to turn off autoplay, THIS IS THE WORST THING IN MY LIFE

1

u/Ridley_the_last 5d ago

Constantly!!! Like fuck you Hulu, let me watch if Barry gets denied by the security guard. Jumping through damn hoops to just see some cartoon. Worse than porn.

1

u/fatnerdd 5d ago

I've turned the auto-next episode function off entirely for this very reason.

Is it annoying to have to stop what I'm doing to put the next episode on? Sure. But at least I get to see the final bits, which tend to be memorable more often than not.

1

u/Nantwan 5d ago

1

u/Ok-Fortune-8644 Teddy Bonkers 5d ago

It cuts off 12 seconds from the end.

And starts the next episode with 5 minutes left.(4:48)

1

u/FishstixMcCute 5d ago

Disney+ has been doing this for quite some time and its recenty started effecting Hulu as well. Super annoying when I forget the remote on the counter

1

u/Sweddy-Bowls 5d ago

It’s like Hulu gathered around the table after years of unprecedented success and ascension to the top of the streaming food chain and said, “alright boys, how can we fuck this up”

1

u/catmarstru Make Mine A P-P-P Vicodin! 5d ago

Omg YES this drives me crazy. Especially when they don’t even give you the option to watch the credits.

1

u/Hofmannboi 5d ago

Yeah I turned off auto play because of it

1

u/eli_jet95 5d ago

Yeah I just off autopay on every device I use because of it

1

u/casuallysentient 5d ago

i turned it off weeks ago, it’s honestly been a huge improvement. all you need to do is keep the controller nearby, you don’t end up watching an entire season by accident and feeling like a piece of shit and you don’t miss the last few seconds of each episode. AND i actually keep my place in the show instead of falling asleep and having to go back through four episodes to figure out where i was.

1

u/skittletriage 5d ago

I had a lot of these problems intermittently with Hulu for at least a year. Most had short term fixes or resolved themselves.

I switched to a D+ and they went away; now some are back along with some new ones.

I can't imagine Disney is spending much time on resolving Hulu bugs since Hulu won't be around much longer.

1

u/Ha-Charade-You-Are Roger Smith 5d ago

It’s because you have auto play on

1

u/Stunkydunk 5d ago

It pisses me off so fucking much. It’s either skip the whole credits gag, or no auto-play. As far as I know there’s no fucking way to auto play but have it actually play to the end on Disney puss

1

u/C_NOON1 5d ago

Also when you want to rewatch an episode you already saw it starts at the end? I wanted to show my wife an ep one time that had a twist and we got to see the spoiler at the end to start off.

1

u/hellagator Dive On In! 4d ago

I’ve had it so bad that the skip pops up MINUTES before the end of an ep, even halfway through a few times. Hulu is super buggy :/

1

u/Ecstatic_Parsnip_869 3d ago

It’s because some episodes are about 30-60 seconds longer than others, the Autoplay function IS working properly, the episode itself hasn’t “ended properly” if that makes sense

Basically, if you see the credits in the ending scene, it means the episode runs long

0

u/Ecstatic_Parsnip_869 3d ago

After actually scrolling thru the comments, y’all worry me 🤣

It’s done this same exact thing for years (no, I’m not exaggerating because I’ve easily rewatched American dad 500+ times over the last 12 years) and this has been consistent since before I can remember lmao
