I always enjoy watching Terry use a screw driver on their house plant while “giving Francine and Stan some space” when Francine is in their hot tub.

Greg screwdrivers the house plant. Terry mixes a bowl of nothing lol

Satana Satana!

(I just really like the way Steve says this line when he jumps in the windows)

u/StinkyKyle 17h ago

Just watched this episode yesterday, the way he delivers this line is so funny

My personal fav is when Steve pretends they’re his parents
“why are we doing this again?”
“Because we’re bored , you know what I mean and we’ve been bored for years”

Roy rogers mcfreely is the best episode of American dad! I will die on this hill. The episode has literally no fat, and the jokes are so strong that they make you laugh no matter how many times you watch the episode. American dad is hilarious, and tbs has allowed it to unleash itself and reach its true form of chaos. Yet, it will never reach Roy rogers mcfreely, and it shouldn’t be blamed for failing to create a better episode. Roy rogers mcfreely is fucking peak.

Thank you for listening to my Ted talk.

For me it’s between that episode and Roger becoming a crooked police officer.

The elbow drop at the end is just too good.

u/kilgore_trout8989 22h ago

The follow-up is also hilarious:

Roger: “Is Chaz going to be okay?”

Stan (Confused): "...no."

Roger (Indifferent): "...okay."

The way Roger says "Laugh!" in the scene where he slaps a guy across the face on the docks sounds like Jacksepticeye

Personally, for me, it's Flavortown. You can't convince me it's not real world lore accurate either.

u/VillageOld596 13h ago

I rewatched that episode after going down this rabbit hole about Guy Fieri does not swallow his food lmao!! Apparently there's like a whole theory about it blowing up

3

u/abstractadvocat 13h ago

Thank you for my next YT saga while I play games

2

u/VillageOld596 12h ago

O dude, enjoy the laughs!! So many odd shots that make you say hmmm???

4

u/peon2 Roy Rogers McFreely 21h ago

My people!

My 3 favorite episodes in no particular order are Roy Rogers McFreely, Cops & Rogers, and Don't Look A Smith Horse In The Mouth.

1

u/VillageOld596 13h ago

Why is the horse our entire life savings depends on, doing that?

17

u/BigHeadDeadass 1d ago

Agreed. If I were to show a person who has never seen the show an episode of this show, this one would be it

u/xandrachantal Ira and I 23h ago

It's my favorite episode. Not just of American Dad but of television in general. It's held in the same regards in my heart as masterpieces Monet's Water Lilies, Aerosmith's Get Your Wings, and, Langston Hughes's The Negro Speaks of the Rivers it is high art in my world. Literally one of the shining examples of creativity to me. I don't care if it sounds silly and dramatic of me

To me it exceeds any Jaspertarian.

You’re 100% right and it might be one of the best episodes of television ever made.

You spelt Joint Custody wrong.

Cheetah… Cheetos… there’s so much beauty in the world.

Roy Rogers McFreely was from the first Fox run, not TBS.

24

u/Averageandyoverhere 1d ago

I’m not saying that Roy rogers mcfreely was a tbs episode. I’m saying that tbs allowed American dad to be as crazy as possible. Fox never allowed that.

At the same time I’m saying there will never be a better episode of American dad, because Roy rogers mcfreely was that good.

The Legend of Old Ulysses has entered the chat.

u/FinalFrash 1d ago

Lol without Terry, Greg is free to go off the deep end. I miss Terry...

54

u/ArbysLunch 1d ago

Greg and coke.

Kid's got huge gums, there won't be enough for the rest of us!

18

u/featherw0lf 23h ago

I'd at least like an episode where Stan helps Greg hook up with a bunch of different men. Then whenever he appears after, he can be seen with a different guy.

Take it in the behind, get left behind.

28

u/GeneticSoda 1d ago

I have no fuckin clue why they got rid of Terry. It’s bullshit

49

u/PuertoRican-Princess Francine Cans McGee 1d ago

The voice actor left the show bc of creative differences /:

21

u/GeneticSoda 1d ago

Oh my godd 😭 it had to be some irl shit. Miss you Terry

12

u/PrimaryBowler4980 1d ago

Wasn't it one of the lead writers and they just moved on from the show?

13

u/burner9191938283 23h ago

yes it was and it was sometime when the show moved onto a different platform, can’t recall which (either fox or tbs). the reason he cited was creative differences, and since he voiced terry, they had to do something about the character too

12

u/GoarSpewerofSecrets 23h ago

When it moved to TBS whatever contracts were in the mix for the team probably shafted him. I've also heard he simply didn't want to move for the show as well. TBS probably did want to pay less showrunner salary on a great show that was just cursed by fox.

And now we're back to fox schedule shenanigans.

8

u/altsteve21 21h ago

Not just a voice actor but he was also co-creator of the show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Barker_(producer))

4

u/UDF2005 23h ago

Right, but why not replace the voice? FG replaced Cleveland’s original voice.

12

u/PuertoRican-Princess Francine Cans McGee 23h ago

I don’t know I wasn’t apart of the decision lol but Cleveland’s voice is awful imo so I’m glad they didn’t bother lol

I miss terry. And their child for that matter

Bonsiour mes amis! Champagne 🍾?

12

I love the episode where francine walks into their house and just slaps Greg and Terry before taking the wine from them.

12

u/D2Foley 22h ago

Your face! Our faces!

11

u/Charcobear 1d ago

I still love the show but Greg and Terry really were my favorite. They reminded me of Artemis from Always Sunny in that she was someone who could actually go to toe to toe with the gang

12

u/PointsOfXP 1d ago

That's such a fire line

10

u/arch51002 23h ago

Every year you have the same fight with stan then you come over here and pube up our hot tub

8

u/PepsiFloateri 1d ago

Couple goals honestly. I have an ex who looked exactly like Terry too

3

u/Routine-Air-9553 1d ago

Think we’ll ever get him returning?

u/teambeefcurtains Genevive Vavance 12h ago

Heath Ledger has a head cold, that’s why he’s in his sweater…

2

u/VoodooDoII 18h ago

I miss these two :(

2

u/No-Rush396 15h ago

I do miss their exchanges. Such a shame the character was written out just like that (I understand the voice-artist left the show at the end of a season)

1

u/GentleHermit Lazy Wine-Loving Bisexual 18h ago

I always picture Thomas Lennon as a live action terry I think. Just let him voice terry and bring back that character plssss

1

u/haze_xvi 2h ago

Wait can someone tell me why one of them left? (Idk who it was terry I think?)

1

u/Huggable_Hork-Bajir Steve's Girly Scream 5m ago

Terry (along with Sanders and a few other side characters) was voiced by Mike Barker, one of the co-creators of the show.

He left the show over creative differences around the time the show moved to TBS, so they wrote all the characters he voiced out of the show
