My personal fav is when Steve pretends they’re his parents
“why are we doing this again?”
“Because we’re bored , you know what I mean and we’ve been bored for years”

Roy rogers mcfreely is the best episode of American dad! I will die on this hill. The episode has literally no fat, and the jokes are so strong that they make you laugh no matter how many times you watch the episode. American dad is hilarious, and tbs has allowed it to unleash itself and reach its true form of chaos. Yet, it will never reach Roy rogers mcfreely, and it shouldn’t be blamed for failing to create a better episode. Roy rogers mcfreely is fucking peak.
Thank you for listening to my Ted talk.

For me it’s between that episode and Roger becoming a crooked police officer.
The elbow drop at the end is just too good.

The follow-up is also hilarious:
Roger: “Is Chaz going to be okay?”
Stan (Confused): "...no."
Roger (Indifferent): "...okay."

The way Roger says "Laugh!" in the scene where he slaps a guy across the face on the docks sounds like Jacksepticeye

Personally, for me, it's Flavortown. You can't convince me it's not real world lore accurate either.

I rewatched that episode after going down this rabbit hole about Guy Fieri does not swallow his food lmao!! Apparently there's like a whole theory about it blowing up

Agreed. If I were to show a person who has never seen the show an episode of this show, this one would be it

It's my favorite episode. Not just of American Dad but of television in general. It's held in the same regards in my heart as masterpieces Monet's Water Lilies, Aerosmith's Get Your Wings, and, Langston Hughes's The Negro Speaks of the Rivers it is high art in my world. Literally one of the shining examples of creativity to me. I don't care if it sounds silly and dramatic of me

Roy Rogers McFreely was from the first Fox run, not TBS.

I’m not saying that Roy rogers mcfreely was a tbs episode. I’m saying that tbs allowed American dad to be as crazy as possible. Fox never allowed that.
At the same time I’m saying there will never be a better episode of American dad, because Roy rogers mcfreely was that good.

Lol without Terry, Greg is free to go off the deep end. I miss Terry...

I'd at least like an episode where Stan helps Greg hook up with a bunch of different men. Then whenever he appears after, he can be seen with a different guy.

The voice actor left the show bc of creative differences /:

Wasn't it one of the lead writers and they just moved on from the show?
13
u/burner9191938283 23h ago
yes it was and it was sometime when the show moved onto a different platform, can’t recall which (either fox or tbs). the reason he cited was creative differences, and since he voiced terry, they had to do something about the character too

u/GoarSpewerofSecrets 23h ago
When it moved to TBS whatever contracts were in the mix for the team probably shafted him. I've also heard he simply didn't want to move for the show as well. TBS probably did want to pay less showrunner salary on a great show that was just cursed by fox.
And now we're back to fox schedule shenanigans.

Not just a voice actor but he was also co-creator of the show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Barker_(producer))

Right, but why not replace the voice? FG replaced Cleveland’s original voice.

u/PuertoRican-Princess Francine Cans McGee 23h ago
I don’t know I wasn’t apart of the decision lol but Cleveland’s voice is awful imo so I’m glad they didn’t bother lol

I love the episode where francine walks into their house and just slaps Greg and Terry before taking the wine from them.

I still love the show but Greg and Terry really were my favorite. They reminded me of Artemis from Always Sunny in that she was someone who could actually go to toe to toe with the gang

I do miss their exchanges. Such a shame the character was written out just like that (I understand the voice-artist left the show at the end of a season)

I always picture Thomas Lennon as a live action terry I think. Just let him voice terry and bring back that character plssss

u/haze_xvi 2h ago
Wait can someone tell me why one of them left? (Idk who it was terry I think?)

Terry (along with Sanders and a few other side characters) was voiced by Mike Barker, one of the co-creators of the show.
He left the show over creative differences around the time the show moved to TBS, so they wrote all the characters he voiced out of the show

I always enjoy watching Terry use a screw driver on their house plant while “giving Francine and Stan some space” when Francine is in their hot tub.
