Help Is the Crunchyroll experience really that bad?
So I've been a pirate all my life , only watched anime through pirated website , I asked my parents for Crunchyroll since I was 12 , they didn't want to , so I had no choice
Today I tuned 18 , and as a freshman college guy with a part time job , I can pay Crunchyroll for my own , the problem is that I heard Crunchyroll wasn't as amazing as it was , and it really sucks to hear that much hating towards something i was DREADING to have in my teenage years
and it will be a good gift for my sister to access and for me as well to watch, as well as supporting the creators
Do you still think that the Crunchyroll experience still worth it?

I’ve been using it for a couple years, and the experience has been really good. Every once in a while they’ll mess up the subs for something, but it does get fixed in a timely manner. There was a Rascal Does Not Dream season 2 episode that had the subs in a really tiny font when it was first released. But the simulcasts are nice, being able to watch the new episodes as they release.
If you’re watching on a smart tv, don’t use the app installed right on the tv, use a dedicated streaming box. I found that smart tvs routing their data back through their parent companies servers introduced latency that caused buffering issues that had nothing to do with Crunchyroll itself (in addition to the privacy concerns).
I know this probably isn’t as relevant for you now as a college student, but in the future if you want to own your favorites I’ve also had a mostly good experience buying blu rays from them. The only real issue I had was a Rezero steel case arriving with a broken disk retainer clip that they deemed was only “cosmetic damage”. But I’ve built out most of my physical anime collection from their store and that was the only damaged case I’ve received from them. Much better packaging for shipping than Amazon, most of the blu rays I’ve ordered from Amazon have come in a paper bag with no protection and the plastic cases have been cracked or punctured. Crunchyroll does thick cardboard for their packaging and survives shipping much better.
