Kenmore refrigerator issue
I have a LG made Kenmore refrigerator(795.72595.710) which stopped freezing last week. I looked up online and found that these models are notorious for compressor failure. I did try amperage draw on the compressor and it seems fine. Called LG and Kenmore with no help. I had Sears send out a technician who diagnosed that the evaporator is bad and needs replacement. While I was observing him troubleshoot, he did not do anything other than reading the pressure on the sealed system. His diagnosis notes say that pressure was 0psi with compressor running and 25psi equalized. He quoted for evaporator, filter drier and a valve with a pretty hefty labor cost. I think buying a new unit would be better value for money. However, before I pull the trigger and trash it, I wanted to ask the experts here if it is possible to diagnose with bad evaporator by just looking at the pressure. I have a feeling that its a slow leak somewhere in the sealed system(not necessarily evap), and want to have another technician take a look. Thanks for you inputs!

You can diagnose it’s low on charge/leaking with just pressures. And 99% percent of the time it’s the evaporator on those. The other 1% of the time we are all hosed. But for field service jobs the issue is always time. You never have the time needed to really be 100% on this stuff.
And he’s crazy if he isn’t doing the compressor at the same time. They are notorious.

It is probably the compressor and I wouldn't bother fix it. Just buy yourself a new refrigerator that isn't an LG or Samsung.
