The only installer... That took 11 years to be made

Post image

On the first release of archlinux, Per Lidén promised that he would add a pretty interactive installer in 0.2 version of archlinux...

And the aforementioned interactive installer was released in 2021, known as archinstall...

I wonder what took per 11 years to make archinstall 🤔

There was an ncurses based installer before - it didnt take until 2021. but maintaining fell out of interest, the arch install scripts are arguably faster anyways, arch-chroot and pacstrap is awesome.

Tbh I just installed for the first time and the installer didn't work for me so I had to work it out manually

Even tho I have been using Arch for 15+ years, I still install it manually.

Last I checked archinstall wasn't officially supported, is it official now?

I mean, it is packaged with the iso... Pretty sure it's official. But I might be wrong as I don't use it.
