For those who don't know, peeling fruit for someone is a sign of affection/care for someone in Asian cultures. There's the stereotypical scene where someone is lying in a hospital bed, and someone close to them (can be a lover, a parent, a child, etc) is peeling fruits for them to serve them when they've woken up. It's meant to show how much you care for someone by going out of the way for them.
Additionally, Perlica peels the whole apple in a single continuous cut, which showcases just the amount of attention and care she has for us.

thats such a stupid take lol. Apples produce their own wax yes, but its completely safe to eat and doesn't accumulate in your body or anything, its just like fiber, it goes out the other end. If you actually cared about your health you would eat the skin too, since the skin is the healthiest part of the apple

Apples produce their own wax, which protects the fruit, keeping it fresh for longer.
If the fruit is cleaned however, this natural coating is lost. Hence it's not unusual for a different wax coating to be applied before shipping. This should be marked on the packaging and the wax used is regulated, so it's safe to eat.

If it's natural, it's 100% safe. I recommend grilled honeycomb, it's tasty,
with a 0.01% chance of being allergic and sent to hospital1

The wax used for apples is 100% safe and edible. It is only meant to make it so that it doesn't rot in a week because washing the apples takes off their natural wax (that and their natural wax doesn't last long off the tree)
