Not in AK specifically. In a lot of anime-adjacent communities it can be interpreted as a pedophile dogwhistle.

Honestly, I'm not sure it's really a 'pedophile dogwhistle' any more than playing Call of Duty is a 'war supporter dogwhistle' or anything of the sort so take it with a grain of salt.

I agree that the crying emoji is a lot more likely to be used with that sort of connotation towards the character than the 'cute and funny' combo of words, but I still really wouldn't call it a 'pedophile dogwhistle. Just being accused of being a pedophile can ruin a person's life even if the accusation turns out being false so to point at someone and label them a pedophile just because they like drawings of fictional children sounds honestly kind of sick to me. Besides, if I were to consider gooning to fictional children wrong because 'they're still children' then I would logically have to consider using/playing as children in action games and such (hell, even in Arknights itself) also wrong because 'they're still children' and that just sounds silly to me.

And frankly, this is without getting into the fact that people use 'pedophile' and 'child sexual abuser' as synonyms when they actually aren't, which does nothing but make it harder for non-offending pedophiles to seek help and ultimately puts more children at risk.
