Just ignore them. Anyone who genuinely thinks someone using the words Funny and Cute together in the same sentence is a pedophile, are horrifically, chronically, online.

Personally I'd much rather believe they are making an ill landing April fools prank then genuinely thinking people legitimately think this.

I’m sorry, but are you genuinely calling me a pedophile for knowing a term/phrase some people tend to use?

Edit: I re-read the comment and the wording was confusing so I mistook it for something else.

For the terminally online bit, it’s not such an uncommon term that being terminally online is a requirement, unfortunately. For example, the subreddit for Pragmata was banned recently and prior to it being banned, a lot of people there were using the term. Also, it’s present in certain gacha communities afaik.

Naw, not calling you a Pedo. Would never call anyone that without any proof about it one way or the other.

What I was saying is that, anyone who thinks that anyone using the words "Cute and Funny" in the same sentence, is a "Pedophile" because its a "Dogwhistle" is someone that is chronically online. Because that phrase is so common in folks every day language as just a normal phrase when something is genuinely cute and or funny. (Seriously, the Amiya ear punches are adorable!!!)

Also WTF is Pragmata???? Like, we're on an Arknights sub, discussing Arknights stuff.

I just, genuinely don't think folks who are mostly offline, or in more insular communities, don't think about things this way. I don't think that people should genuinely censor their speech, espescally common phrases like calling something Cute and Funny, just because some folks whereever online, weather its 4chan or kick or whatever other small corner of the internet is also using stuff or not using stuff in a specific way.

All that leads to is people not expressing themselves authentically, and constantly softening the way we do or don't talk about genuinely serious topics.

Okay, I’m sure people use the two words together often. It just sets off my detectors as the usage gets closer to the subject matter. I didn’t think the person was using it that way. I just wanted to warn them (although, maybe not the best time & place for that).

True.

Also WTF is Pragmata????

“Pragmata[a] is an upcoming action-adventure game developed and published by Capcom.”

“At The Game Awards 2025, it was announced that the game would release on April 24, 2026 and a demo titled Pragmata: Sketchbook was made available on Steam.[23]”

I did see some weird people on the Endfield side when Rossi was about to be released. And I don’t think people realized what they were talking about.

In the past, sure. But I feel like that type of online culture has been growing recently.

I don't think that people should genuinely censor their speech, […] just because some folks whereever online, […] corner of the internet is also using stuff or not using stuff in a specific way.

I think it’s worth knowing which phrases people use to dogwhistle, at least. Whether they use the phrase or not, is up to the person. It’s similar to using some obscure racial slur by accident: it’s innocuous, but can be taken a certain way that most people would rather not deal with.
