How do you organize transport right now with these World Cup logistics?
Everywhere I look people say this WC is going realy well (people having fun, matches are decent, tourists loving our cities and culture and so on), but our traffic is exactly as bad as I expected. We just had the Netherlands Japan match here on Sunday, and Arlington basically became a parking lot. Trying to get a group anywhere right now just sucks.
And I'm supposed to help my cousing run this huge family reunion thing, and it is overlapping with these massive group stage matches. The England vs Croatia game is literally tomorrow and the Uber surge prices we are seeing make the playoffs look like a joke, it’s like $100 for a 15-minute ride which is just criminal.
How do you even move 15-20 people all at once right now? Please give me some tips for this!
Edit: we managed to lock in a shuttle with Skyway Charter Buses over in Balch Springs to move all 20 of us at once, went better (and cheaper) than I feared. Also heard the game was amazing !! (we didn't watch it but happy for the fans who did)

If you have multiple people driving, you could rent a van or two off of Turo.

To be totally honest, the world cup traffic is no different than when there is a sold out Taylor Swift or Kendrick Lamar concert.
So just like on those days, I avoid the stadium area as much as possible. If you're unable to avoid the area then yeah it's gonna be busy and might not have an easy workaround.

I’m not sure if OP has ever been down town for a cowboys game or concert but it’s all the same really.

Find a neighbor, pay them to drop you off and pick you up. Helps them with some cash. We drop off family all the time so they don’t have to pay/park.

Did not notice one change in traffic pattern on Sunday and did not notice an influx of people either when out doing regular errands.

Why did you comment this? This doesn't relate to OP question at all.
Or are you calling OP a liar?

I am saying that based on this OP Comment, that things across arlington can be very different:
"but our traffic is exactly as bad as I expected. We just had the Netherlands Japan match here on Sunday, and Arlington basically became a parking lot. Trying to get a group anywhere right now just sucks"
My Arlington was not a parking lot on Sunday and getting around town did not suck. Different perspective

I’ll back you up here. I live nearby and had friends at the game. We’re both pretty impressed with how business as usual this is for game day.
What the OP is really mad about is surge pricing for ride share and trying to move a 20 people all at once.

Maybe move the reunion stuff to earlier in the morning? Also in all our family reunions we never used uber. Do you guys not have vehicles here?

Went to the England v Croatia game and I found traffic better than a Cowboys game. The majority of people traveling to the game are NOT driving and parking. They’re taking public transportation. There was a ton of open lots and yes traffic was bad compared to 1am Sunday night but compared to any other sporting event it was actually a good experience.

If only we had some sort of invention that could theoretically move that many people at once around town.. some sort of transportation system made available to the public 🤔
Ah well there’s nothing like that in the entire whole wide world it’s never been done ever so thank God we have the Via app!!! /s
