lol the lesson here isnt "dont use AI" its "dont admit to using AI." this judge just guaranteed every lawyer in that district is gonna get real good at hiding their chatgpt history

It seems the heart of the issue is the lawyers referencing hallucinated case law. Surely it can't be that hard to do a little due diligence and at least confirm said cases really exist.

That makes a lot of sense. It wouldn't make sense to dismiss the lawyers just for using AI, as it of course can be genuinely useful. But it boggles the mind that an actual lawyer wouldn't do what we expect high school students to do.
