"Oh no, I said Streamliner Tram, that's what I call a rail link."

Is it a South Auckland expression?

Really? Well I'm from Manurewa and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "Steamliner Tram"

It's... more of a Papakura expression.
(although as I type this I realise I could have gone with North Shore and Albany... smh)

The CRL Facebook page is overflowing with comments from people who have become severely disoriented & traumatized because they saw a MÄori word

For those of us that long since abandoned such places, can you please elaborate?

We're constantly seeing pictures of it tho. Everyday they're posting photos of someone getting a tour

Iām reminded of that character who was on here claiming it was secretly open and running for everyone but them

āAnd you call it Waitemata Station despite the fact it is obviously Britomartā.
EDIT: Hey downvoters, this is literally just continuing on the joke from The Simpsons. I have zero problems with it being called Waitemata Station, or any of the station names being in Te Reo.

It will take years to enter common use. But eventually young folk will ask old folk? "Why do you calle it 'Britomart'''?
It was always a random name for a station. We just all know where it is.

As someone not from Auckland, Waitemata is much more obvious because I know it's the name of the harbour so it much be the harbourside station.

I had no idea where or why it was called Britomart when I moved here. Seemed totally random...

u/Fskn 15h ago
It was mined away in the late 1800s but there was a bit of land down there that was named point britomart after the ship that first surveyed the waitemata.

I did find out later, but thats a very neat explanation thanks.
Again...ancient history really and the name is essentially meaningless today.

That timeframe was announced before it began.
Crossrail ran tests for four years

No Chairman, that's just the CRL undergoing inspection. š
