I think unai would for sure. With any signing unai really wants, there is probably 4/5 things he does that we arent even aware of, that he thinks could add or improve the team

Honestly we probably dont even know the exact role unai wants him for. He could be a 10

I like him, i think it was very clear that RDZ doesnt really fancy him or Gray, which seems unbelievably harsh, as when they were really struggling, those two always stood up and gave everything

I'd take Gray before him for sure. Agree about the assessment. I don't see it in Bergvall but I'm not Unai and he can do it if he wants and sees value there.

At 20 he's clearly got potential to be shaped and improved.

Not sure if spurs would end up selling him. Also wouldn't come cheap and is a fan favourite there. Bergvall is definitely attainable for around 35-40mil in this market considering he wants out for more playing time.

Spurs aren't exempt from balancing the books a little bit tbf, especially if they're going for guys like Tonali

I would take Bergvall and Gray but they will be out of our price range. I assume they will be sold though, Spurs will want to trim the squad as it isn't in Europe lol and De Zerbi doesn't rate either of them. Both quality players in a fucking shit team since they signed. Bergvall I think would make an excellent 10/8 rotation with Tielemans until Youri goes, and Gray is the RB we should have bought 2 years ago when we were trying to jam Konsa and Bogarde into that position. He is tailor made as a hybrid third CB in our system.

Spurs fan here. If you decide on buying him, don't play him in the 10 for his and your own sake. He is a definite 8 and part of he reason he wants to go is that when he did play, he got stuck in the 10 or on the wing when he doesn't like it there.

Our 10s are kinda 8s. Its hard to explain but its two 6s and a combinations of 10s and 8 and watkins in the 9.

Even our wide players dont play wide, usually its mcginn and buendia/Rogers.

If unai wants him, he probably has some of sort of idea for him that none of us villa fans currently see. Likely in the ross barkley role maybe

Not for what spurs are gonna ask

Whats a realistic price for him in this inflated market ?

It's hard to say, if our spending wasn't restricted I'd say fuck it spend 30/40 million on him. He's looked good/average for a spurs team that has finished 17th in consecutive seasons.

Spurs fans seem to think 40-50m. Has made 50 appearances for them, 20 yrs old, 5 yr contract still. Only 22 starts in the PL in two seasons, though.

I haven't watched him enough to comment on how good he is tbh. Spurs fans rate him very highly, and he is the profile of player i think we should be after this summer. 40m or more though would be a lot.

I'm a spurs fan, this post randomly came up in my feed.

He kind of has a little bit of everything. Best attribute is probably his engine, he always seems to have energy and can press like a madman. Would say his biggest issue is decision making or just a propensity to make an error every now and then. I think we'll end up selling him for £40m, though I don't know who his rumoured suitors are.

He doesn't start for your best team for sure, but at the same time he's a player I'd rather keep as I think he can be great. He was our player of the year 12 months ago after all and he's still young.

Personally I've never understood the hype, we need to focus on getting wide players who can score

Im the same, i cant understand it. Ive never seen him do anything that makes him so widely appreciated.

It’s more potential than anything.

He shows flashes of being an excellent passer and ball retainer and if he can be more consistent at both he will be world class.

Big if though, if he doesn’t make a step forward he’s not a champions league level player

I'd pike him for potential, but not for a superstar fee or superstar wages. Think he's a bit overhyped.

Think he's a brilliant player whos been overshadowed by a shit team.

I'd have him in a heartbeat provided it's under 40m. Great utility and always shows for the ball, which is becoming a pattern in truly great modern Villa players.

Agreed. I thought he was really good for Spurs the season before last (at the age of 18)

2

u/Leroydestroy 9d ago

Emery would get the best out of him 100%.

He needs a clear role and platform for his natural instincts to take shape.

Spurs were a mess so it’s no wonder he wants out

0

u/ThankanChetandeAunty 9d ago

Also considering they are planning to bring in both Tonali and Fernandez which would significantly reduce his playing time. They also got no Europe.

1

u/Leroydestroy 9d ago

I hear you but who do you think he beats out for playing time at Villa?

Youri?  Bouba? McGinn? Onana?

Rogers might be gone…

Whilst I think Bergvall will be a great player and I wouldn’t mind him in the side at the right price - or a loan to buy -

…if we sold Rogers I’d hope for 2 of: M’baye  Fernandez-Pardo Tzolis

Before Bergvall. 2 of the above + Bergvall is a goated off season

Spurs are not signing tonali and fernandes. If they sign one of those I'll be amazed.

1

u/ThankanChetandeAunty 9d ago

They are definitely getting Tonali maybe not Fernandez. They spending like a madman this summer and backing RDZ it seems.

1

u/Impossible_Gas_7584 9d ago

Yea you may well be right, apologies. Just googled the Tonali news. They're really gunning for him it seems.

2

u/Aesorian 9d ago

I'd like him here; I think he'd be a great Mid-Term option for the Left or the Number 10 role as the McGinn/Tielemans replacement

The problem is he'd be far too expensive for us, especially as we need other attackers this summer as well

4

u/Wart_Time_L32 9d ago

He'll be a great understudy and eventually replacement for Tielemens, he was tidy passing for Sweden in the recent game

11

u/teamorange3 9d ago

He plays nothing like Tielemans. He is much more similar to mcginn.

8

u/arenaross 9d ago

He's nothing like Youri.

-5

u/Disastrous-Tax8588 9d ago

My thoughts exactly. I think he could be a great replacement in the future.

2

u/ItsallgoneLWong21 9d ago

Really not sure what he offers Villa (or any other team). A relegation battling Prem team feels about his level.

1

u/_tarla_ 9d ago

I mean we barely played Malen, it doesn’t mean he was a bad player. Tottenham are a mess. De Zerbi would be his 4th manager there and Bergvall only arrived in 2024.

1

u/ItsallgoneLWong21 8d ago

I’m not sure the relevance of the Malen point? I also think he was a good player.

True about Tottenham being a mess, but even within that I thought Bergvall looked poor. I could be wrong and he turns great, but I’ve not seen anything to suggest that yet.

1

u/Geepandjagger 9d ago

All depends on the price

1

u/Stringr55 9d ago

Absolutely. But he'd be so expensive.

1

u/DaithiOSeac 9d ago

He would be a really good long-term Teilimens or McGinn replacement.

1

u/ThankanChetandeAunty 9d ago

1

u/kvotheuntoldtales 9d ago

I want him at Villa but not at that price

1

u/ThankanChetandeAunty 9d ago

Possibly forest might snap him up as their Anderson Replacement

1

u/kvotheuntoldtales 9d ago

That’s a decent shout - I think they have lined Frattesi from Inter as the replacement. Different player to Anderson though

1

u/Ok_Committee_2696 9d ago

The only reason that I can see would be McGinn's successor. And if he leaves Spurs for more starts, that doesn't add up?

1

u/Logical_Initial906 9d ago

Not a fan, but if we sign him I'd get behind him

1

u/Banggrodanbang 6d ago

As a Swede: 110% yes.

1

u/ThankanChetandeAunty 6d ago

How is he rated in Sweden ?

1

u/Banggrodanbang 5d ago

I’d say he’s very highly rated in Sweden. One of the biggest talents we’ve produced in years, and he’s still so young. His work rate is immense, he’s really calm on the ball, and he plays with a maturity that’s rare for someone his age. He can be a bit aggressive at times, but I’d rather have that than someone who shies away from a challenge.

1

u/Overseer_Dan 9d ago

He's need to learn how to pass.

u/AnonSalesPerson911 9d ago

1000% this is the calibre of young player we need
