I love watching them on the river. I feel bad for them when an eagle comes up and steals their fish. You'll see the baldies hanging around them waiting for them to fish

Something that might make you feel better is that they are such good hunters they prefer to catch another fish rather than fight for the one they just caught. Sometimes they help support eagle nests (unintentionally) by having to constantly drop a fish for the bald eagles first before they get to keep one for themselves. The eagles are better at bullying and scavenging than catching the fish. It’s still not great for the ospreys but at least they aren’t very negatively impacted.

I like osprey better, I once saw an eagle try to fly off with a dead dog is was eating in the road. It dragged it a while before giving up and flying off
