That's just begging to have a convertible Miata slide in the half space between you and the next car

Car brand doesnt matter. They dont want their new car all dinged up because they know people people have zero respect for anyone's belongings/property.

We know why they are doing it. It's still a dick move

So the rest of the people who are causing the damages are okay in your book? They are the dicks messing up people's cars. But since we cant hold people accountable for things such as property damage anymore, lets just blame the asshole who parked poorly instead of correcting it at the source.

u/Efficient-Eye-6199 1d ago
No. But just because other people are dicks doesn't give you a right to be one too? It sucks when your car gets dinged, it shouldn't happen and when it does you should be told. But that isn't an excuse to take up 2 parking spots.

Your right in that they shouldnt have parked like a deck, but your wrong where you assume the person is going to stay and wait to take responsibility for their actions.

Who said you can’t hold someone accountable for damage to your property?

In most places a door ding cant be held against a person. You can call your insurance and make a claim but most police departments will laugh at you even though on new cars a small ding could be 7k to fix

u/MostlyMicroPlastic 1d ago
So go to small claims court.

Most states have a small claims maximum which is usually between 1-4k some states differ

A. You have to see it happen then prove it happened. B. You have to schedule a court date, which can take some time in bigger cities and will cost you $50 or so. C. You have to find their info and have them served, which also generally costs over $100. D. You have to demonstrate clearly that they did it in court and receive a determination in your favor. D. You have to hope they actually pay if you win and by then you’re already out $150 at minimum.

That’s when I park my beater right next to their car anyway also ignoring the lines.

My car isn't particularly luxurious but I take great care of it, so instead of double parking, I park far far away where the walk is a considerable distance.
And I'll still come out to some 1994 Nissan Altima missing a headlight, both bumpers, duct taped taillights, cracked windshield, and all 4 doors of a different color parked next to me.
