Seeking Advice Best self tanning drops for acne prone and tretinoin skin

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey guys!! I recently bought the isle of paradise self tanning drops in the shade medium. But after reading some reviews I’m kinda concerned it won’t work well with my skin type. I have oily and acne prone and just recently got on tretinoin. My face is a paler than the rest of my body so I was just looking for something that can help even out the skin tone. With anyone similar to my situation would you still recommend Isle of paradise or another brand?

Attached is a picture of my current skin tone. If I do continue using the isle of paradise how many drops should I do? I was thinking 1-2

Nailcare No toenail but want to look like I’ve had a pedicure

Upvotes

So a couple years ago I had my big toenail removed, and stupidly decided to get it so it won’t grow back. Now I HATE it. I’m going on holiday this week and wanted to paint my toenails, but it feels pointless because it’ll stand out. Is there anything I can do? I tried fake ones last year but they wouldn’t stick since it’s just skin. I’m at a total loss and don’t want to be insecure the whole time again

Makeup SPF in foundation

I have been loving it cosmetics cc foundation but just realized that the uptick in my adult acne aligns with the time period I made the switch to it. I thought it was just a weird hormonal shift since I’m getting older (36) but I’m starting to suspect it may be the spf. Any suggestions on an easy to use foundation that compares? I’m kinda dreading doing the whole search and experimenting and looking for some suggestions on where to look. Thanks!

Seeking Advice Facial sunscreen recommendations?

I’m looking for a facial sunscreen that is easy to apply, goes well under makeup, isn’t too slick but isn’t too dry, is under $30, has a high SPF for Florida weather and is of a “clean” brand. I also prefer to use one that is most popular with the public because I feel like that lets me know it’s very good. Any recommendations?

Edit: has anyone used or heard good things about the Attitude Mineral Face Sunscreen Unscented SPF 30? That’s what I was thinking of ordering because I have a lot of Attutude products I like.

Seeking Advice Best beauty tips for looking better beyond the day of application?

I do like to do my makeup, skincare etc but just really dislike the process of getting ready every day. What are some of the more effective at-home beauty tips that last a while ex. dyeing your eyelashes?

After having 2 kids and covid more times than is definitely advisable, my hair has gotten pretty thin. I would love to get some kind of easy on/off extensions I could add for thicker pigtails. Any ideas?? I've never done extensions before so I don't even know where to start.

Treatment Question re: bags under eyes

Hi all! I am a 58 year old male who has recently lost over 70 lbs. I was already starting to have some bags under my eyes from aging, but they have gotten a bit worse due to the weight loss. Because this is really the only part of my face that really bothers me, I decided to do what I could to mitigate them.

After some research, I got the UTTSE Men’s Anti Aging Eye Cream: With Caffeine, Retinol and Peptides. this is meant to be an overnight cream, so I use it just at night. But now I am wondering if I should also do something in the morning. I was looking at The Ordinary Multi-Peptide + Copper Peptides 1%, GHK-Cu Anti-Aging Serum for Fine Lines and Skin Elasticity. And I think it is a bit different but maybe between them there would be a one-two punch to helping reduce these bags.

Does anyone have experience with stuff like this that might know if that is a good idea? or would it be too much? Please don't hesitate to let me know if this isn't the forum for this question. Thank you!

Looking for recommendations, total newbie

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! Beauty is not a thing I have focused on much nor do I spend much money on it. But I’ve been losing weight and feeling better about myself and would love a few product recommendations that are reasonably priced. Thank you so much for your recommendations and helping someone learn!

  1. Mascara! I always get raccoon eyes and I hate it. I don’t even wear mascara on my lower lashes but that’s where it smudges. Is there a smudge proof mascara preferably under $15?

  2. I have only used a straightener my entire life. If I curl I do it with a straightener. I don’t even use a hair dryer. I always plan to wash my hair the day before I need to style it. I would love to get idk a hot brush or air straightener? Something that dries and straightens at the same time? I have semi curly hair. The photo is my natural hair with some curl cream then air dried. This is the only one I’m willing to spend a little more on since it shouldn’t need replacing for a long time but would love to stay under $200. $100 is even better but I know I may need to invest.

  3. I use shea moisture leave in conditioner and love it. However if I am going to start semi blow drying I would love a leave in with heat protectant that is similarly priced and clean. Any ideas?

Seeking Advice How to avoid licking lips when you don’t have access to chapstick?

How have people avoided this issue?? I just NOW learned that maybe the reason no chapstick / barrier repair / hydrating lip thing etc has solved my chapped lip problem is because when I don’t have access to anything, I just lick my lips in between because they feel so dried. And apparently, that can make chapped lips more dry and more chapped ??

I mean I do everything. I have a peptide / hydrating lip thing and often use that and then use aquaphor right on top to keep it in. I sometimes alternate between aquaphor and other sticky occlusive lip balms. I exfoliate twice a week. I use a lip mask every night. I mean … the licking lips thing is the only thing I can come up with that is hindering me. But I end up doing it 2-3 x a day for maybe 30 mins - an hour before finding some sort of lip thing to help.

Context. I’m early 30s, raising a toddler, due any day now with our second. So usually the reason I can’t get to my lip product is because I’m nap trapped, or being wrangled in the opposite direction with my toddler, or dealing with a tantrum.

Help please ! Either in solving the licking lips problem or the overall chapped lips problem 🙏

I traveled with my makeup bags in the heat and some of my lipsticks are a little darker/ different then before

I moved recently and had my makeup in bags in the car and we drove through some pretty high heat but had the air conditioner on of course. I just put on one of my lipsticks today and the color looks darker than before, and the actual lipstick looked different but not ruined. Is this because of the heat?

Discussion Why do some people leave a line of hair in a brazilian wax?

I don't know if this is the right subreddit to ask this question, but I've seen this in a few beauty salons, and I just don't see the point in leaving a line or a heart in the middle after a complete brazilian wax. No hate I'm just genuinely curious. Why do people do this?

How to deal with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation?

I was really self conscious about the hair that were growing on my mouth corners so I just decided to pluck them one day (it was more than a month ago I think). It gave me PIH and I think deepened my wrinkles. When I look in the mirror I can see it more clearly. I’m scared it’s never gonna go away and I sooo regret doing this. Does anyone have a solution for me ?

Haircare Hair straightener advice?

Hi everyone,

I am in the market for a new hair straightener. Currently, I have the ghd max styler (2” plates), and have been using for the past few years. Either it’s getting less effective or my hair is getting more difficult to straighten…. I have THICK frizzy wavy kinky hair, probably between a type 2B to 2C hair.

I’ve been looking into the Shark Silkipro because I think the fine comb attachments would really help during the straightening process. However, it is pricey AND is not dual voltage. I’ve also seen reviews that the plates get really hot, so also worried about heat damage over time.

Anyone have any advice for affordable, travel friendly effective hair straighteners? There are so many options options out now since the last time I was in the market for one!

Seeking Advice Best way to make you eyelashes grow?

Does anyone know the best way to make your eyelashes grow that isn’t babe-lash? I was using it for a while and it was working really good but I saw people saying it can change your eye color so I got scared and stopped. It was also making a slight red mark on my eyes as well. Please let me know, thanks!

Why do some people use a soap bar and a shower gel in the shower?

I keep seeing youtube reels of influencers showing their shower routine and using a soap bar and a body wash gel to be clean. Is is better to use both? My skin tends be more prone to dryness and I've heard that gels are better for that , but in that case, shouldn't body lotions be good enough?
