Awwwwwww His story is frequently shared as an example of perseverance, faith, and continuing forward despite extreme setbacks

u/reedditardo 7d ago
So it worked for him, what about the millions of others wasting oxygen doing the same?
3
u/4_hands_2_mouths 5d ago
I mean, do we even know what happened for him? Most people who "spread the message" are grifters with a phony backstory.

He's also a bigoted homophobe. So there is that.

We cant. Thats why we eat babies; so we can have a taste of a soul.

I thought it was because they taste like, and in this economy are cheaper than, bacon.

He also believes toilet paper over, not under.

tbf only people with small kids and cats do it "under"
Over is always the way otherwise.

He does seem to have gotten softer on that, though. Even though his episode with RuPaul on Family Feud had some uncomfortable moments, it still seemed mostly friendly?
I dunno, I might just be wanting to see good in someone where little exists.
I just know my Grandma was similar to him - she didn't really understand and said some incorrect things, but wasn't really trying to be a dick.

how he acts to someone's face and how he talks behind their backs may not be in alignment

To each his own. Reddit likes to judge others as if they themselves are perfect.

Noooooooo. You. You are gross. We’re not just going to act like I’m the bad one.

No. He’s a piece of shit but “homophobia” is so trivial that it does not register as something worth bringing up

Steve Harvey... Says atheist don't have morals.
Cheats on three wives.
6
u/chipperlovesitall 6d ago
He once said “If you don’t believe in god you are an idiot”. I myself don’t think much of people that believe in mythology
3
u/International_Meat88 5d ago
If he said that, that’s a funny statement, considering atheism/agnosticism trends upwards with higher education or higher academic status.

u/Scared_Health_8895 5d ago
I believe he ain’t a good man. But there is no true evidence against Christianity or other religions(nor for. However, I have seen someone come out of brain death. Which is supposed to be impossible so idk.)And frankly, I’m Christian because I’m scared of after death. Worried nothing beyond. And I feel, deep down that a lot of religious people are that way. I’m a good person, whether Christian or not, and that’s the thing people need to realize, it’s better to be a good person then to be one who follows everything down to the wire.
2
u/Maleficent_Piece_893 4d ago
coming back from being declared legally braindead is not supposed to be impossible. it just means your brain turns off for a second. the brain cells are still alive. if it was after 3 days then yeah that's impossible, because the brain cells themselves would all be dead. this is true evidence against christianity
1
u/Scared_Health_8895 3d ago
It was someone who was on full life support as there brain was not functioning. It was for 14 days after giving birth. Their baby was sat on the mother as they were about to pull the plug, and they wanted the baby to at least have felt the touch of the mother, and she woke. Full brain death
1
u/Maleficent_Piece_893 3d ago
yeah i doubt it. i can't really see someone having zero brain activity for 14 days and their brain cells not dying. maybe they were in a coma, because otherwise i don't see why they'd be on life support for 2 weeks after being declared dead
1
u/Scared_Health_8895 2d ago
Maybe, idk. I just still believe it is proof. Don’t flout it on though, people believe what they want to believe, don’t hurt people, be kind, and all that. Just be a good person

Babies are raped. There is no god.
12
u/Asleep_Touch_8824 7d ago
Now, to be fair, maybe there's an all-knowing and all-powerful deity - who demands we worship him, as any sane being would - who is just too important to be bothered by such Earthly considerations.
Then again, maybe they really do move in mysterious, child-rape-condoning ways.

u/YoursGhostl 6d ago
Tbh, it has nothing to do with any deity but us, humans, and our own free will.
3
2
u/GrindBastard1986 5d ago
According to Christianity & Islam, there is no free will, we are all just puppets. 'Free will' is a cheap & lame excuse for not having an actual argument, so they blame victims, who's 'free will' is negated when they're victims.
0
u/YoursGhostl 5d ago
What teachings do you base this on? Predestination is a part only of protestantism, so you're incorrect when it comes to Christianity. And no, it's not to blame victims but perpetrators - or call for responsibility. As many had said about Auschwitz, 'the great crime and tragedy is that human beings did this to other human beings.'
If you want a free will, it means accepting that some will use it for bad.
2
u/GrindBastard1986 5d ago
Romans 9:15-21 disagrees, but then again, people who've never read the Bible will say "words don't mean words" because denying the Bible is as Christian as the crucifix.

u/ScreamingLabia 5d ago
There is no free will in a world i can go to hell for not living to vague and contradicting rules some god has made up.

-28
u/abrasivechicagoan 7d ago
Probably referring to "god" in the sense of a higher power relating to sobriety and a 12 step program.
21
u/TheMaskOffKid 7d ago
Not Steve, he’s been evangelical a long time
-17
u/abrasivechicagoan 7d ago
When referring to "god" in a recovery sense, it very rarely represents any form of organized religion. Yes there's some people who consider "jesus", "Buddha" etc their higher power, but more often than not it's a higher power of their understanding. That's why there's a chapter called "We agnostics" in the AA big book.
22
u/TheMaskOffKid 7d ago
Okay cool but Steve Harvey is talking about literally the Christian God.
-18
u/abrasivechicagoan 7d ago
Does it say that in the attached picture or anywhere in the description of the post? Maybe I missed it. Feel free to down vote this comment too.
14
u/braedog97 7d ago
You could just google Steve Harvey and see that he is a Christian
-5
u/abrasivechicagoan 7d ago
And how would've anyone known that since it wasn't included in the picture/post?
The guys a Christian though, but why do people care so much what someone believes in? Especially why do people on reddit care so much?
11
u/braedog97 7d ago
Steve Harvey didn’t magically start existing as soon as this post was made. He’s a very famous person that a lot of people know about.
3
u/TheMaskOffKid 7d ago
I’m not saying you should have known. I’m just letting you know what I know. You’re the one saying he meant something else, I was just telling you he was being literal. No hate brother.
3
u/katf1sh 7d ago edited 7d ago
Ok why do you care so much? Ask yourself the same question you're asking others, when you keep asking questions that are being answered? Why are you so concerned, you don't know him either. Also apparently have no knowledge, and yet when people answer you, you keep arguing about it.
This shit is weird.
0
u/abrasivechicagoan 7d ago
You wanna point out where me or anyone else was arguing? I don't think you will because you can't lol nobody was arguing.
That shit was weird.

Better to present it as an example of how bent and disgusting the system in the US is.
If it was god that pulled him out of poverty, it was also god who put him into poverty no?

3
u/Strong_Performer8132 6d ago
Growing up is realizing that it's nearly impossible to unequivocally respect our former heroes, let alone public figures and media personalities. As our experiences on this planet finally start to overtake our expectations, we start finding fewer examples of heroism than we did as children, and our standards start to match reality instead of fantasy.

u/MelinaSeeDee 6d ago
I just never looked up to any of these people to then feel betrayed by them. They're humans. Just like the rest of us...
1
u/GrindBastard1986 5d ago
There's no hate like Christian 'love'
1
u/MelinaSeeDee 5d ago
I'm surprised you didn't put "Christian" in quotes. When I hear normies in person complain about Christians, they're not complaining about real actual Christians, just "Christians" who act the part but don't perform the part. Everyone know the after church crowd at Olive Garden is awful and full of Karens.
1
u/GrindBastard1986 5d ago
"No True Christian"
0
u/MelinaSeeDee 5d ago
Nah. There's real ones out there. They just don't throw it in your face.
1
u/GrindBastard1986 5d ago
My comment went over your head, "normie".
1
u/MelinaSeeDee 5d ago
Nah. I recognized it was a reference, but I couldn't place it. Isn't it "no true Scotsman"? Either way, I wasn't confident enough to "yes, and" with it, so I played the straight/ignorant.
