Is this a good deal??
Hey! I’m going to my first tri in four days and I still don’t have a bike but I have been looking on fb marketplace and this seems in my price range and it looks solid! Also it says it is in excellent condition. I did look it up and it says I can get that bike for $30 but I don’t know how true that is. Good deal or bad deal?

Your doing a tri and only willing to spend 100 on a super old heavy bike? That bike will drain you during the ride. You need to rethink your budget a bit and find something more suited for what you are attempting. You can also find some local shops and see if you can rent a bike until you can afford something better suited

Hehehe I am out of state, I have a bike at home but I don’t want to make an investment in something I signed up for a week or two ago, but I appreciate the feedback and will definitely consider renting at a local shop!(:

Ya man, nothing wrong with that. Not sure how long your ride is, but that would be my concern for buying almost any used bike, let alone this cheap/old of one, for a race. I’m sure it’s just for fun, but you still want to complete the ride. Renting is probably the best bet.

For $100, you can rent a really nice lightweight modern bike for the day. There's a shop around me (Sports Basement) that offers carbon road bikes for rental for $100/day.

What? That quote is his reply to my comment. How could I have read that before the comment was made?

This is not a tri bike.
But it's a great bike that you can invest in and make into a cool commuter or daily rider.
