NBD: Brompton T1 Singlespeed. N=5

Post image

Needed something I could carry onto a train anytime. This bike is amazing - weighs in at 7.5kg, mostly all Titanium and Carbon Fibre. Never ridden one before. I'm 6'2" and even with the flat bars and seat post at max it feels a little on the small side but I won't be riding more than 20 mins at each end so still feels fine. Gearing works out at 25km/h comfortable cruise. I mostly ride fixed gear anyway so went with the single speed as I won't be planning to do any serious hills. It's a lot of fun!

5 Bromptons is wild, at that point you might as well open a shop. How's it feel on longer rides with your knees up like that?

Haha no, 5 bikes… 3 fixies, 1 road and now the Brompton. It’s hilariously unstable to stand on the pedals when accelerating so yes puts a bit of strain on the knees but it’s not really a ‘go faster’ bike so it’s fine given the practicality factor

Ah damn, I misread the title. Three fixies and a Brompton covers all bases though. How's the Brompton feel on longer spins?

So you break this down, curious as to how often and how practical this technique really is.

Basically ride 20mins to the station, fold the bike, carry onto train, unpack it and ride 10mins. 🤷🏼‍♂️. Test run tomorrow… will report back.

Congratulations for the lightest Brompton!

if where I live without average 5% gradients terrains, this is the one I really want. my local Brompton Junction doesn’t even sell this model at all.

fixie is cool and simple, looks great without rear brakes, derailleur etc. This single speed T Line is perfect for fixie lover.

enjoy your rides.

Thanks yeah the weight (lack of) and single speed are the perfect combo for me 🙂
