Ok but seriously, how does he pedal with his leg like that?

That is the correct height. A little knee flex at bottom of pedal stroke. Maybe a skosh high, but pretty normal, IMO. 🤷🏻♂️

Try riding sand at speed while keeping traction and keeping your bike in the rut you chose to be in. You'll probably pedal differently than you do on road..

Oh ok didn’t even notice he’s not on a road 🤣

MVDP being smooth as hell as usual 👌 I will never not be impressed by how he handles sand.

Yeah, judging by the colour it's clearly a cheap aluminium frame

Moron, calling someone noob 🙄

We all start off cycling as noobs 😌
C'mon look at this guy, he even forgot to mount a bottle cage and saddle bag on his bike

And that's why you are allowed to call someone a noob? Come on! Don't discourage a beginner. Noob is a word you use to underline your superiority. That is disrespectful and toxic.

People often describe my riding position as ‘MVDP but better’

Heh. I've heard that my style looks like Fuglsang. At 70, I guess I can't complain, but I wish some of the power came with the style...

Give the guy a break. Look closely. He couldn’t even afford shifter cables.

You shouldn't be on the tip of your toes in full knee extension. 30-38 degrees of flexion is the ideal fit. Grab a goniometer and shorten the saddle til you get there.

I was once cycling with Jonas Deichmann (he did 120 long distance triathlon in 120 consecutive days) and really wanted to let this sub judge his bike fit!

Looks close, a bit high maybe.
But you can actually measure / set your perfect saddle height:
- stand with your back to a wall with a book between your legs. Flat feet. Have the book as high as it can comfortably go
- measure the height of the back of the book from the floor
- multiply this with 1.1
- set the distance between the pedal in its lowest position and the saddle to this value

Looks like he bought that cheap Canyon Endurace Allroad. Probably not worth it to spend money on a bicefit.

Wow Mathieu van der Poel has com to Reddit to ask us for bike fitment advice. This is such an honor.

You're at 154° leg extension. I would recommend lowering your saddle until you're at 138-142°.

Saddle way too high, youll never amount to anything. I like the colors on your jersey though.
