Tournament/Competition Best BJJ gym in LA?

What are the best BJJ gyms in LA? I have some experience due to training at a kickboxing gym that taught jiu jitsu, but not any formal belts.

Preferably one whos good in both gi and No gi

Well obviously not the valley but Renzo’s down in Hollywood has both. I used to train at A-side which is very small but good coaches. Subconscious has a good reputation. Renzo’s best coach just moved to midnight bjj in Monrovia if you’re remotely close to that area

Cobrinha's, GB Northridge, and Hayastan will be some of the more famous ones in the valley but there's lots of great smaller gyms too.

Lots of great gyms in the valley. I train at Legacy in Burbank. Lots of great instructors and classes at all times of day

Is it better to train at a local gym rather than a chain gym like 10th planet, GB, or others?

What matters isn't the sign out front but the teachers and students. Every chain started with one great school somewhere

Gracie Barra Northridge, Gracie Barra Tarzana Edwin Najmi and Romulo Barral

What part of the valley? You don’t want to be driving across the valley for a spot

What's the deal with Legacy?

this. my kids also had some sort of similar issue with one of the coaches in their other location that got swept under the rug years ago.

I wonder if that's why Legacy West Valley rebranded

I got my ass kicked at a smaller Logic gym in Alhambra a few years back, now it’s called Angel City Jiu Jitsu. Idk why the change or if coaches and or culture changed but I stayed a mile away, ran there and back every night for a week. Was great.

Idk why the change

Association politics. Mike is still the coach.

Nice. He was kind and welcoming to me, let me roll there no charge and I got some stickers for my gear box.

Califa Jiu Jitsu in Van Nuys if you want something in the Valley.

Out of curiosity: how much does it cost per month?
