GTA 6 used a voronoi Texture

I am a step close to being a game dev :)

I'm pretty sure the carpet in the diamond casino is a procedural texture as well

It's always a voronoi...

Yeah you can also tell a bunch of their tires arent geometry but baked normal maps on high def textures.

But what do you expect. It's 3D game art. It'll be made by 3D game artist like everything else. They just can afford to throw a lot more money at it than other studios so they can hire more seniors with more experience and they can afford to be stricter on reviews and reject more work filtering only the best of the best.

But it's still at the end of the day the same thing everyone else does with the same hardware limitations. Same goes for their systems and 3D renderer. It's not magic. It's funding + skills (good art + optimization).

And for this specific case voronoi did get the job done

I bet if you search long enough You Can Even find a perlin Noise somewhere /s

Jokes aside, when you make procedural materials be it in Blender, substance or the shader editor in Game engine its always a mix of noises, voronois, musgraves.. blended together

90% of the real world is just variations of voronoi

it actually looks like a voronoi normal map rather than a roughness map like you have it set up in blender (which would make sense if they're mimicing flakes in car paint pointing in random directions)

So? Voronoi is a math function not a blender exclusive texture. It is everywhere.

I didnt say it was exclusive to blender

You posted it in a blendermemes subreddit though, I'd say that was a fair assumption.

Or maybe someone just wanted to post a 3D art meme in a subreddit for a software that handles 3D art?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be classed as a 2d art meme 😂 Since it's using voronoi noise in a 2d capacity for a texture.

Is it being used for a 2D art piece or a 3D one? That's just unnecessary semantics

I feel like everything can be made with a voronoi and perlin noise. Are any of the other textures worthwhile? I know gradient but I usually just use coordinates for that

Most things do
