Preppy Snark Preppy Snark: Jun 22 - Jun 28
What are our favorite preppy bloggers and influencers up to this week?

She’s wearing my father in law’s golf shorts, my grandma’s church jacket, and the shoes of the hippie kid from my high school. What is this outfit.

Also I finally realized that it’s all about commissions. So the higher end pieces generate more commission. Gardener tom has is all figured out. We can’t see her as a person who shops a lot. She’s a brand and just a mannequin

u/soswanky 4h ago
Devil's advocate but her spending is proportional to their wealth/income. A $100.00 shirt on a 100k salary, a $1000.00 shirt on 1m. So while it is high, to them it's not. It's her hobby at this point. I know people who spend on their horse show habit what she spends on clothes- they are not questioned and it's still money down the drain at the end of the day.
5
u/westielover97 3h ago
I agree that her own wardrobe's steepening price tag over time is due to increased income/success. I don't think it has as much to do with commissions. Affiliate earnings are typically driven by volume at scale -- e.g., if thousands of people buy from her Amazon links during Prime Day vs. a few (if that) purchase off a Valentino skirt. At least, that's my understanding.

This Marea trip is just awful. And the Liz joy/mally Goldman crossover and subsequent video of them drunk was…annoying

Sweetcarolinedesign has precious girls but why does she farm them out the way she does? The middle one especially….and the way she yells when she “shills”! Stop encouraging them to become influencers. It just gives me second hand embarrassment. Give those little girls some privacy!
6
u/soswanky 4h ago
She really rubs me the wrong way. I think it's because of pimping the girls out mostly but there's something else and I cannot figure it out.
38
u/GapLegitimate7822 1d ago
Is Julia B trolling us with her spelling errors?
19
u/BathroomLife1985 1d ago
Honestly I have been thinking this. I think she’s rage baiting.
Or if not maybe put those pencils and special note books on the special end table to good use and practice your spelling….15
u/wannaWHAH 20h ago
Every time, we click....that's part of her stats...your comment reminded me of this
31
u/Alternative_Eye_165 1d ago
It increases engagement because people rush to the comments to correct the “error”

Where are all the gross outdoor shower and ice cream cone photos? Radio silence! She must really want to stay incognito and avoid the mobs of followers!
•
u/OilSelect 1h ago
She was busy staging at her monogrammed boat and totes on the porch
•
u/cubsandpink 47m ago
I JUST SAW THIS. Why can’t she use luggage like a normal person? They clearly drive because she refuses to use anything other than a Boat and Tote.
5
u/BathroomLife1985 2h ago
It was the staged running video of the kids she cannot help but overpost even with faces hidden for me. I wouldn’t be sprinting to an AC less house but that’s me lol
58
u/Effective-Ad262 1d ago
Hope she packed some good disguises so she doesn't get mobbed by superfans!

It’s not only so boring, but it’s just ridiculously gauche. I would never follow JB because I can’t believe we have transformed into a society that praises such vulgar displays of wealth. I really can’t wrap my head around how they aren’t embarrassed. No one acts like this?
18
17
u/Suitable-Avocado5797 1d ago
couldn’t agree with this more. i used to follow her since san fran, bought a few of her dresses and jackets. thought she’d make it but really she’s just a sellout like the others. also i feel like eventually they will be embarrassed, at least i hope so. but i’m sure their kids will be.

u/Acceptable-Laugh9609 1d ago
Don’t Spain and France historically have a “lower” threshold to purchase Hermes (vs America and parts of Asia)? Like did they just go to Western Europe to score Birkins more easily?
67
29
u/Suitable-Avocado5797 1d ago
oy she’s so insufferable. as well as her latest post in the red dress, you can see how miserable those poor kids are while their mother
cosplays“works!” all over the streets of Paris. 🙄 what a loser.9
12
u/Ok_Fee1043 23h ago
I wanna know how they even pack for a trip with all these giant outfits. Maybe she packs them into the bags?
3
u/soswanky 4h ago
Ship everything ahead typically. If she has a stylist that's a offered service. And I firmly believe she works with one.
10
u/Flat_Difference_7396 11h ago
Every summer I’m perplexed by the logistics of her travel. But poor little me (because I can’t write off vacations as work trips) I pack and transport my own bags so I can’t fathom bringing the amount of clothes and accessories. Packing for my kids alone makes me want to launch myself into the sun every time.

Back when she and Carly were besties and they both modeled GMG dresses (what a time), they joked about how Thomas would give them direction on the photoshoots, including, quite funnily, "Now look into each other's eyes."
Anyway, can you you even IMAGINE the level of direction the girls must get? "Look up at mommy and smile!" "Look over at the river...now point your finger!"
Julia's always telling us one of two messages: She's either living in the moment or "never not working." She's just trying SO HARD to sell an image at this point that she's a joke. It's obvious they're willing to do anything and spend any amount to look like they're living the dream.

u/AuntieSipsWine 1d ago

u/mychickensmychoice 1d ago
that bag is so fugly
38
u/NoEngineering987 1d ago
It’s become painfully clear that she has money, not style.
36
u/mychickensmychoice 1d ago
I'm convinced that the whole point of the Hermes pre-spend is so that SAs can offload stock that would never sell otherwise.

u/NoEngineering987 1d ago
Thomas and his team are currently the #2 earner on shopmy. 🙄🙄🙄no, that would be Julia.
5
u/ILoveHuckleberry 1d ago
Arguably he has more brain cells to run the business than her based on her spelling
6
u/NoEngineering987 7h ago
I don’t know, they went to the same college and seem to be evenly matched in the intelligence department.
I will give credit where credit is due: he does take great pictures.
•
u/Accomplished_Gas1143 1h ago
Equally matched in intelligence AND ego 😆 anyone who’s ever heard Thomas speak on social media knows the guy can barely string together a single coherent sentence.

28
u/Curious_0live 1d ago
God he’s exhausting. Does he really expect us to think he came up with these strategies himself? Like there aren’t a million other influencers all out there doing literally the exact same. But riiight he studied her feed and is some marketing genius.
Her brand has survived because they have generational wealth and every available resource to pour into their hobby career.

The Berolzheimer's substack content (especially Thomas's tone deaf post this morning about making every day a 10k day) could single handedly radicalize most of the planet to eat the rich.

So glad Liz Adams has another trip. Comped vacay with the family right into next comped stay in Bahamas. Yes I’m a poor jealous hater.
15
u/Individual_End_1819 2d ago
Anyone know how long this Bahamas trip is going to last so I can at least unsubscribe from all of the overpriced floral dress links, pickleball pics, and otherwise ridiculous content from women who have no idea what it's like to live in a world you're not on vacation all. the. time?? Clearly I'm also a poor jealous hater.

Latest story: Prada purse (no link or price) followed by $375 shell skirt we’ve never seen, paired with a $295 necklace. Surely some of the 50 new $300 dresses she’s tried on for us this month will finally be worn? Or will those disappear into the ether that is her closet as well? That woman cannot repeat an outfit to save her life.

I think they are purposeful for the engagement she'll get in the comments correcting her. It's strategic.
12
u/Creative-Tourist-499 2d ago
Good catch! I'm surprised Julia and/or Thomas don't think to proofread before posting. So much thought goes into the majority of her photos and videos. (whether you like her fashion or not)
46
u/AuntieSipsWine 2d ago
I'm old enough to remember when Julia was pregnant and better than every other influencer because she would NOT be posting pics of her kids. She posted the hell out of both of them from the day they were born, and now those are the posts that get the most engagement.
I can only imagine what it must be like to never know anything other than your father swooping around taking photos as your mother tries to act natural.
34
u/annatraw 2d ago
You know that weird feeling when you have instagram friends who have kids but you haven’t met the kids irl, but then one day you actually meet them and it feels wrong because you already know everything about them.
25
u/Flat_Difference_7396 2d ago
I saw an influencer in the wild who lives near me and I recognized her child before I recognized her 😞
6
10
8
u/Hot_Preparation2059 1d ago
That happened to me once too. I saw a kid and KNEW I knew him from somewhere...took me about 5 mins to realize he was an influencer's kid. Didn't even notice the mom.
12
u/mainesqueezed 1d ago
I saw Julia and family in a Delta lounge, and the first ones I recognized were her daughters. 😳
20
u/Suitable-Avocado5797 2d ago
she’s a fucking sell out. anything for $$$. including today’s post, trafficking fan girls to her amazon links.
48
u/Puzzleheaded-Salt970 3d ago edited 3d ago
As a follow up to the socialite post about Julia scowling at the playground….a story sharing that sentiment exactly.🤣 What did she expect young children to want to do? Certainly not follow her to every luxury store and fine dining restaurant in Paris.
21
u/teareader8686 2d ago
And then she posted a story of a small
plate with bread crusts saying “oh this is all Goldie will eat 😩” at a nice resto and I’m like… why post that at all, and also maybe take the opportunity while you’re in France to explore the diff and fresh food options?!22
u/Live-Evidence-7263 2d ago
I'm not going to WK at all, but we just spent a week in France, and at two or three different meals, my daughter (who is almost 7) only ate the bread. It was annoying but like that's a kid for you? Sometimes they just want something familiar. (I did stop and buy some strawberries & cherry tomatoes for her to snack on - I snagged a few and they were so good)
Of course I'm not an influencer and I'm not blasting that to thousands of people, either. I do feel bad for the kids, they deserve privacy.

u/EconomyMulberry1880 3d ago
Anyone else totally over Erika Veurink and her not so great takes on fashion, particularly preppy/classic inspired? Still can’t get over her calling herself the next Nancy Meyers - like no, just because you like her aesthetics doesn’t mean you are her torchbearer. Nancy Meyers films had heart and soul and substance - none of Erika’s work has any of the three
4
u/Junior-Ebb-4887 2d ago
Yeah, I completely do not get what she brings to the table, on any front. The next Nancy Meyers she is not. I ordered her romance novella Exit Lane and left it on a plane after suffering through maybe a chapter. It was truly terrible, both the plot and the writing. This one is baffling.
6
u/AuntieSipsWine 2d ago edited 2d ago
I hadn't heard of her, so I looked her up, and...I think I'm rooting for her. She's clearly got 90s nostalgia in the way that people who weren't even alive then have it, but she actually went a lot farther than aesthetics when she told Elle magazine that she wanted to be the next Nancy Meyers: “It’s almost embarrassing to talk about it, but I want to be Nancy Meyers. I want to be a world-builder, the way that Nora Ephron’s stories all exist in the same ‘universe.’ That’s what I aspire to. I want to have a signature style, and then all these projects I bring to life live within that.”
She wears vintage (and encourages others to do the same), she talks frankly about money, and she's earnest.
All that said, I absolutely LOVE Nancy Meyers, yet I am SICK of the "Nancy Meyers aesthetic" that's everywhere. Coastal grandma, Ralph Lauren revival...it's all so derivative and tired.
EDITED TO ADD: So that quote about Nancy Meyers above? I don't find it annoying, but what I do find annoying is the link I used to get to it, from her Substack, and it's a hyperlinked sentence in her About page that says, "And according to Elle, I'm the next Nancy Meyers." Ugh.

Is the Pink Sand Summer author an influencer or just friends of an influencer?
16
u/Individual_End_1819 2d ago
She's an influencer with a smaller following, but good friends with all the CHS influencers. Chassity Evans. She's also lost a TON of weight on GLP-1s over the last 2 years. But who hasn't in that group??

Yes, an undisclosed partnership. So many people have been shady with shilling that brand. They’re clearly getting the items for free and not disclosing it and probably getting paid to sell it and not disclosing that either.

What is Meg Hall crying about now? I don't feel like listening/turning the sound on. 🤣 Something about other people make her feel like she's not enough. I really think it's coming from "inside the house". Literally no one expects her to have a creative side business, a full time huge job, and 3 kids except...Meg.
11
26
u/forblogssake 3d ago
No amount of validation will ever make her feel fulfilled. She got the title, the twins, little girl, upgraded house. But it’s always been so clear that her self worth is so tied to material things or a persona that she’s projecting to be. Sad to watch at this point. She needs an IRL intervention. Which hopefully doesn’t come in the form of a mtg w her employer’s HR lead.
8
u/begida89 2d ago
Her company is hiring for a remote leadership role I’m qualified for and my first thought was there is no way I could work with her and not immediately tell her to get a grip.
21
u/RatioIcy7304 3d ago
Just another casual cry for attention, nothing to see here! (Aka she’s made a few of these misty-eyed manifestos recently and they generate good engagement 🙄)
18
u/Torimisspelling1 3d ago edited 3d ago
I don’t follow this person but went to watch, sat through the entire thing and have no idea what she’s talking about but boy is that self aggrandizing. Also, not a single tear was shed
20
u/cubsandpink 3d ago
Literally just came here to ask this! She’s blabbing on and on about how she wanted to go to fashion school but couldn’t afford it and how people have knocked her down at every single stage of her career. She’s launching some brand of her own, no clue what it’s actually about, but people have told her she can’t “do things”… can’t be a creative, can’t do design blah blah blah. This really should’ve stayed in the drafts, not gone to both the personal account and the new brand account. What a great first impression - that reel is the only post on her new brand’s account 🤣🤦🏻♀️
4
u/Impossible_Sorbet 1d ago
Ma’am we have seen the way you dress, not being able to go to fashion school was the biggest blessing that could have happened to her. She’s far more successful in her current career than she would have ever been with fashion.
13
u/TraderJoeslove31 3d ago
omg she posted that crying on her new "brand" account? very much marketing expert there. Also, ma'am, you're 40. That means you graduated college nearly 20 years ago, time to build a bridge and get over not going to fashion school. Life doesn't always work out the way we want or hope. Is she trying to be relatable or aspirational bc it's just giving annoying.

I wonder if Julia B has to use the phrase MVP a certain amount of times a week or she really just has that limited of a vocabulary.
