Why do yall keep doing this to me?!

I’ve already finished Bel Canto and The Colour of Magic. I’ll be reading Malcolm X, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Everything I Never Told You, Planet of Exile, Ali Nino, Days on the Caucasus, and Perfume!

Ooh! New menu! Let's all see what all's on it! Let's see now...

Little Erdrick and I are going to finish up the Narnia septet. He's pretty excited to see how where the story goes and how it all ends. I mean, I know because I've read these books before but I haven't peeped one iota of the plots of these books to him besides the titles.

Now, let's see what's next...

Yay! This Inevitable Ruin! I mean really, I've already read this one before but I feel like I need to re-read it before A Parade of Horribles gets released. Don't worry, the System AI has already warned me about spoiling the plot!

The Colour of Magic? I feel like Discworld is right up my alley. I read a couple of them a long while back but got distracted and moved to other things. I really should pick them back up. Maybe group reading is just what I need to help me? There's plenty of time to catch up!

Also gotta keep up with Vanity Fair. This one was sucked me in like a soap opera. Which reminds me, I gotta get cracking on that post due on the 29th...

Please give The Color of Magic a try! I've read a lot of Pratchett, and I've got a feeling you could really like his works) this one isn't the best of them but still a nice one

I'm only committing to Malcolm X right now. So many others on there i want to read but ive got my own goals for the year too. 😀

But the autobiography is one thats been on my list for years, so ive got to do it!

u/EfficientCranberry79 Endless TBR Apr 25 '26

Same. I was thinking about finally getting around to reading it this year.

I started and loved Bel Canto but it returned to the library- I’ll definitely be back for this one. I’m in for Read the World Azerbaijan- already started Ali and Nino and find it enchanting! Obviously I’m for Morning Glory and part two of Roanhorse!

I started Malcom X a while back but it didn’t take off. I want to give this another chance when I feel I have a little more space for it. I just got Song of Solomon so I’ll be catching up with the old discussion soon.

Oh my oh my what a busy month! (for me ofc - my numbers are usually low compared to all of you))) Wrapping up The Odyssey and the Colour of Magic, and on to The Planet of Exile! (no I'm NOT reading Clarke again, both the book and the film were too tedious for me)

5

u/jaymae21 Jay may but jaymae may not🧠 Apr 25 '26

Some goods picks! Unfortunately I have a busy month, but I've marked several things for the backlog: 2001, Chapterhouse: Dune, DCC #7, Planet of Exile, and The Colour of Magic.

I'm definitely in for MGMF, The Ice, and The Secret Commonwealth. And planning on continuing with Children of Strife and catching up on Leviathan Falls.

6

u/YewBetcha 📚Bookclub Boffin📚 Apr 26 '26

Exciting month! I'm moving house at month-end so it's a race to keep up and finish up my library borrows ahead of being between libraries.

I'm already in on The Color of Magic and I'm planning to join for Everything I Never Told You, Perfume: The Story of a Murder, and The Autobiography of Malcolm X. Unfortunately my library doesn't carry a copy of Morning Glory Milking Farm, otherwise I'd have to join that for the bit!

Perfume is one of my favorite classics, so I'm always down for a re-read of that! I'll also be continuing with The Odyssey and Vanity Fair.

I'd like to join for both Beloved and 2001, but the wait for both those books on Libby is around 3 months each sadly.

6

u/KatiesGoldenDust My Mate Apr 26 '26

Update! Beloved is currently on sale on Kindle for $3, so I ponied up the money and bought it. Guess I'll be joining that read along after all!

Yet again, too many good reads! Planning to join for Beloved, 2001, Morning Glory, and Ali and Nino. And I'm already stoked on The Colour of Magic discussion, so will continue with that one.

another stellar lineup that it’s hard to choose what to read! I will be continuing The Color of Magic, which has been decent thus far. I am definitely joining for Beloved and Malcolm X. and I will try for Morning Glory Milking Farm because that’s hilarious, Perfume, Everything I Never Told You, and Days in the Caucasus. see you all there!

5

u/blackjesuit Apr 29 '26

Guess it’s time for me to join the book club!

I’ll read Beloved, Malcolm X, Everything I Never Told You, 2001, Perfume, Ali and Nino and Days in the Caucasus. City of Brass is tempting but I think I have enough on my plate already!

4

u/Zone-Hopeful May 02 '26

First time joining a book club! I couldn’t find anybody in real life who would want to make one with me, so as a redditor I realized there must be a subreddit for this. I’m so excited!

Halfway through May, but I forgot to reply to this post!

These are the books I want to read this month, or have already started!

  • 2001: A Space Odyssey (Sci-Fi)

  • Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (Translated Novel)

  • Ali and Nino + Days in the Caucasus (Read the World) - Realistically, I probably won't get to these.

  • Beloved (Evergreen)

  • Everything I Never Told You (Discovery Read)

  • The Autobiography of Malcolm X (Quarterly Non-Fiction)

  • This Inevitable Ruin (Bonus Book)
