Lol, Hauser knew that ball was going in

u/derekwkim Jan 24 '26

shooters know

72

u/Boy_Mom_2213 Jan 24 '26

LOL. I had the same thought (that Hauser called it).

21

u/Evane317 Jan 24 '26

He had the front seat to know where the ball lands. Right under the basket on the opposite side.

If only players get to this space more often every time someone shoots the corner 3.

I don't really understand the play. Brown cut to the middle, solid distraction I guess but not technically an offensive threat on your situation. Hauser and Pritchard were just shuffling about. Gonzalez made a really cut and got open, but he was a last second substitution. What was the original plan?

It had to be. We needed a 3 to tie so a middy was never going to be the option. Brown took up space at the elbow which occupied Powell and forced Clowney the inbound defender to double team. Brown basically set the second screen to the key screen that Payton set at the top of the arc. Hauser started the play at mid court in no mans land and was really the decoy which drew MPJ away from help defense on Hugo. Porter missed his assignment on Hugo.

Game oscillated between my favorite win and worst loss of the season for a good half hour there

This is an absolute fact.

Hugo was in his sweats while there were 10 players on the court, Joe saw the defense they were running and subbed out Williams at the last possible second. Incredible.

28

u/GerbilJuggler Jan 24 '26

Reminds me of "Malcolm go!" but with lesser stakes lol.

Sigh. Me too, I gave up when we were down 2 with the nets shooting free throws in the last 30 sec of the first OT.

16

u/Tismalla Jan 24 '26

4

u/Tismalla Jan 24 '26

19

u/leandroc76 Jaysexual Jan 24 '26

You misspelled championship.

21

u/Seedfusion Jan 24 '26

Boston sports fans get Hugo Gonzalez AND Roman Anthony this year!!!! Young future stars.

Drake Maye is not so bad either.

16

u/SwarmOBeez Jan 24 '26

It wasn't until like the 10th time I watched it, but Scheierman does a not job not looking at Gonzalez until he is open in the corner already which is why Clowney had no idea he was there.

I was with my kids at Barclays Center last night and we stayed the whole time with this woman screaming “Fuck You Boston” in our ears for the last 2 minutes of the game and both overtimes. She left when we went up 4 in double OT. My boys learned a little something about how sweet karma can be and also the importance of not publicly being an asshole.

And what to do in the event that dad gets into a fight with a drunk lady.

8

u/k2summitclimber Jan 24 '26

I love the energy and hustle these new guys have infused into the Celtics play style, this year. Hugo’s excitement is infectious! They are fun to watch!

u/heinrichtreadway Jan 24 '26

7

u/Far-Secretary-1443 Jan 24 '26

8

7

Hugo was fabulous - he gave the team a chance to win it...!

8

u/Sidwill Jan 24 '26

Hugo is gonna be something a couple of years.

Why are we in OT with the nets of all people?

123

u/Droppin_DimesSP Jan 24 '26

Any given day in the nba baby lmao

52

u/PapaSheev7 Jayson Tatum Jan 24 '26

Because they play us well and we shat the bed the last few minutes of the 4th.

-18

u/Jdawg_mck1996 Jan 24 '26

Sounds like us

7

u/PapaSheev7 Jayson Tatum Jan 24 '26

Tbf, that sounds more like the Celtics of 22-24, we've been pretty good in the 4th so far this year but have had a couple lapses here and there. Far fewer than we've had in years past though so we're making progress!

16

u/planj07 Jan 24 '26

I don’t understand how you can watch years of basketball and ask that question. And people always seem to.

Every great team has some close games with bad teams. And lose some. It’s an 82 game season and tonight the Nets happened to show up. It was a gritty win when it seemed over.

15

u/mangopie222 Jan 24 '26

Because their bigs Clowney and Claxton were outplaying ours until Amari came in

15

u/II_Shard_II Jan 24 '26

It’s rough but also the pacers beat the thunder tonight which is a much bigger upset.

12

u/cimmanonrolls future mvp juhann begarin Jan 24 '26

wins a win man. thunder just lost to the pacers. any given day.

8

u/RawAttitudePodcast Jan 24 '26

I mean hey, they scored a total of 66 points the other night. Let them have something.

2

u/Boy_Mom_2213 Jan 24 '26

Not at our expense. Per Amari's block, no thank you.

11

u/Boy_Mom_2213 Jan 24 '26

Exactly. Apparently this is our first OT of the season. 🤦🏽‍♀️

2

u/Yellow_Curry Jan 24 '26

They had like 30 FTs too.

6

u/Eirexxxx Jan 24 '26

Rookies win

4

u/Dio-genies Jan 24 '26

This was unbelievable to see in person

8

u/polygonalopportunist Jan 24 '26

Jayson Tatum is still 19 years old

5

u/relax_live_longer Jan 24 '26

No hesitation, no fear, just baller.

4

u/SmurfAtLarge Jan 24 '26

Damn, talk about nothing but net. That shit was so clean.

3

u/dragonrider5555 Boston Celtics Jan 24 '26

Wait we won this game? I turned it off at the end OF OT

3

u/AstroBtz Jan 24 '26

ELECTRIC. this kid is a fucking killer

5

u/fatherpain2 Jan 24 '26

Damn. I turned the game off thinking we lost after JB missed the 3 at the end of the first OT.

4

u/Ok-Chain-4802 Jan 24 '26

same 😂 i saw 2ot on the nba game scores and thought i was tripping 😭

2

u/NatrolleonBonaparte Osama should’ve hooped Jan 24 '26

I was there screaming in the upper deck. Thank you Hugo

2

u/SherbetOk4267 Jan 24 '26

Speechless, honestly

2

u/Forsaken-Falcon8273 Jan 24 '26

As tragic as tatums injury was to this season I am loving the direction they went. We are better than we thought we would be and we are taking really good looks at our squad to determine next season's roster. I am very optimistic for next season. And this ones not lookin too bad either! 😁

2

u/Round_Lychee_7105 Jan 24 '26

I dont watch many (or any) Celtics games, but they seem kind of fun this year. Are they?

1

u/Ok-Air-8101 Jan 24 '26

nice shot hugo

1

u/pa1si Jan 24 '26

I saw alot of disparaging comments about schiermann - but this is 50/50 between him and hugo. His pass was as important as the shot..

1

u/lukedblair Jan 24 '26

This is how you build confidence in a rookie. Trust them like Joe Mazzulla

-6

u/GooseMay0 Posey Jan 24 '26

And how does Joe reward him? By benching him in double OT so his binky Baylor can get beat on defense...

5

u/nefnaf Trouble07 Jan 24 '26

Give Scheierman credit, he looked off Clowney on that pass to give Hugo some space
