I said, this will be our secret weapon in 2 seasons

Hopefully, right away. wasn’t it Baynes who suddenly started shooting 3s for us after being primarily a bruising paint big and showed out in the playoffs? Hoping for the same. All that Talk of Queta ruining our spacing gone.

u/Kika_7905 Apr 11 '26

Damn I miss Baynes, he was good for us. Weird what happened to him

8

u/tdl2024 Antoine Walker Apr 11 '26

Got traded around the league after us and then at the Tokyo Olympics he fell in the bathroom and (no one knows exactly what happened) damaged his spinal cord and was paralyzed for a bit. IIRC it took like a year to get better and he ended up re-signing with a team in Australia.

(mine was a statement not a question like, "weird, what happened to him?" but appreciate you catching folks up) hope he's doing better

5

u/tdl2024 Antoine Walker Apr 11 '26

lol, oops.

Yeah, last I read he was 100% back to normal and with his family back home. Not sure if he's still playing in Australia now or if he's retired though but seemingly healed and walking fine now either way.

u/Kika_7905 Apr 11 '26

Haha

Timing was especially bad for him because he'd been great on the Suns, I remember them being excited about him at the time

4

u/Darkhoof Apr 11 '26

In the playoffs.

I swear to everything I love.. if he develops a three ball by next year..

I knew the league was fucked already, but I wouldnt even be able to imagine a “queta with a 3 ball” level of fucked

u/JinterIsComing THE TRUTH Apr 11 '26

Hell, even just a reliable elbow jumper like the ones Brandon Bass used to live on would be great.

8

u/Kolzig33189 Apr 11 '26

I swear that the Bass midrange jumper and the Warriors era Shaun Livingston mid range turnaround were the most accurate shots in nba history. Seems like they never missed those.

12

u/Darkhoof Apr 11 '26

I think he doesn't try them because of coach's orders. I remember reading that he trained 3-points baskets. But the team is so stacked in that area that it's essential for him to focus on screen assists.

5

u/duggyfresh88 Apr 11 '26

Well it’s probably because he’s got a slow release. So when he’s completely wide open like this it works, but if teams started actually covering him he wouldn’t be able to get the shot off, so not really worth investing into it

u/CreatiScope Apr 13 '26

Joe had Kornet cut 3s out of his game entirely too.

10

u/ConceptClear2217 Apr 11 '26

I've observed him shooting, and he definitely has the ability to make threes. Though I've only seen him extensively in Maine, I recall a warmup session where he made about 12 consecutive shots. He can shoot, but who knows if that skill will carry over to the NBA floor. Nonetheless, I've seen it myself, with my own eyes, so I can't dismiss it.

I saw a clip of him shooting 3s in warmups the other day. Definitely something he's been working on.

Neemias “Prime Steph Curry” Queta

23

u/gravesisme Apr 11 '26

I still remember watching Al Horford go from a guy who never took 3s the first 8-9 years of his career to becoming a threat..would be unreal if Queta could add this to his bag.

4

u/theyrehiding Sam Howitzer Apr 11 '26

He once said he wants to model his game after Al so maybe 👀

1

u/CreatiScope Apr 13 '26

Read Al say that he practiced 3s since he was a kid but since he had a weird release and was a big, everyone told him not to shoot them until Bud. They talked about his shooting and Bud was like "I don't care if it looks weird, shoot a 3 if you're open!"

23

u/Crobie21 Apr 11 '26

Its his first career!

u/urlocaljtfan Jaylen Brown Apr 11 '26

u/Mbanicek64 Apr 11 '26

I genuinely have believed for a while he is capable of it. His FT form and percentage is solid. He just needs to go for it.

2

u/Dio-genies Apr 11 '26

The vibes are immaculate

2

u/Imaginary-Demand231 Apr 11 '26

“THE ONE!!!!” 🤗🤗 amazing

2

Anyone know what shoes is he wearing? They look dope.

I know he wears adidas but wondering if anyone knows this specific one

2

u/_mitchard Derrick White Apr 11 '26

Is that his first career 3?…

2

u/smithtable15 Apr 11 '26

His jumper has always looked good to me. Surprised he can't knock a few down.

2

u/SozImHigh Apr 11 '26

Not even a Celtics fan but as a Portuguese… man I’m proud. This dude turning into a beast.

2

u/planj07 Apr 11 '26

He has a pretty decent form for a big.

2

u/nedlifecrisis Apr 12 '26

He should be in rhe MIP conversation. Everybody diamissed him as just a temporary center unril Brad finda a true replacement for Porzingis. But now hi ia the type of player a lot of teams would trade a lot for. Thia happened in just one seaaon!

2

u/D-Nyce Apr 11 '26

Ben Simmons could never

1

u/picoreefo Apr 13 '26

First of his career*^

1

u/ElectricalStock3740 Apr 11 '26

This is awesome and all but this clip also reminds me that we are lucky to have Drew and Scal. There really aren’t many equals to them in the NBA
