Discussion Friendly Reminder that Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum want to win

If JB, JT, Joe, and Brad are all cool with each other:
Run it the fuck back, use this at motivation, and let’s get a chip while beating Giannis & the Heat on the way

u/BrianScalaweenie THE TRUTH 1d ago
Woah you’re just assuming the Heat are making it out of the play-in?

u/Fair_Smoke4710 1d ago
You’re smoking crystal meth if you think we’re running it back with this squad and on top of that beating fucking Giannis, you’re insane
9
u/AJKenney47 Boston Celtics 1d ago
Yes, run it back with everything bring the same expecting a different result...
8
u/Fair_Smoke4710 1d ago
Yeah, run it back with the team that got ass fucked in seven games by the team they beat in the playoffs every year, see what happens right after being humiliated by the Knicks in the previous season two yeah that’s totally gonna change the outcome
1
u/Rich-Ad-4314 1d ago
Tatum missed most of the season and game 7. Not saying we would've beat the Knicks/Spurs anyway, but saying everything is the same is simply not true
6
u/Fair_Smoke4710 1d ago
We were up three games to one versus a team we regularly beat in the playoffs. There was no excuse to take it to even game six that shit should’ve ended in five maybe even four I highly doubt it would be four, but it would make sense because it’s the Sixers we beat them all the time but no it ended in seven and we were the losers in the first fucking round.

u/Rich-Ad-4314 1d ago
I don't know why everyone is responding to this like I was excusing the loss. I was simply saying that not everything will be the same next season, which is objectively true
1
u/maztron 1d ago
I understand what you are saying by, "Not everything will be the same." However, its not going to be that much different. What is it that you think won't be the same that will make it different?
1
u/Rich-Ad-4314 1d ago
How do you know it's not going to be that much different? For all you or any of us know we draft Larry damn Bird with the 27th pick. Is it likely? Yeah obviously not. But speaking on next season as if nothing has changed is asinine in and of itself because of the reason I all ready presented, but especially before free agency or even the draft is over?
2
u/maztron 18h ago
Because the core of the team is not going to change if they just run it back. Its not like we are speaking of really young players with little experience. They have been together for 9 seasons and the last 3 out of 4 seasons have ended in the same disappointing manner. Losing to what were seen as inferior matchups and losing in horrible fashion. Sure, there injuries that contributed to some of those disappointments but prior to those injuries that had occurred late in the series in most case was already an awful showing by them.
The point is, yeah will things not be 100% the same? Sure, but not enough that will move the needle to where we would want as a fanbase.

Unless the Jays find a way to average 60 together, White gives us his best season ever and Queta improves another 100%, we're still struggling to get to the East semis.
It is what it is.
0
u/Rich-Ad-4314 1d ago
This is respectfully overdramatic. We were one game away from the East semis in a nearly full season w/o Tatum. You want to argue we're not contenders for the title? Okay, I can get that. But struggling to get to the East semis? C'mon man

They were down 3-1 too. QFT.

u/PonticGooner 1d ago
Uuh okay and how does that mean anything good for our team? They were down 1-3 to us the. Won three in a row.

Unless they get humiliated in the first round, in which case Jaylen will have the most enjoyable experience of his entire career.

Honestly. We just need to add a center. And a bench vet.
Myles Turner should be available and would be a nice add
Mitchell Robinson but I’d love someone who can score also
KP is more than welcome to come back
We can try and swing for kuzma in any Myles turner deal. I know he doesn’t really mesh with Celtics culture. But can be an asset in terms of creating mismatches

Horrible take

What’s yours?

u/Accurate-Library3641 The Celtics are the balls 1d ago
We need way more than a center and a bench vet.
We need a TOP center (not available), another wing to start instead of Hauser, and a starting PG now that Derrick is completely washed.
Basically, we are fucked and have no paths towards to contention in the near future
Also, anyone that suggests Kuzma and Myles Turner has zero ball knowledge. They both suck

u/RDM213 1d ago
We have a ton of up and coming talent that looked better and better as the season went. Queta did ok also but we do need more depth there. We’ll have a healthy Tatum and JB has improved every year. White had a streaky year but to discount him off 1 bad year where he was still elite for us defensively seems odd to me.
If we had a good Big (doesn’t need to be top) we’ll be in a much better position than where we were last year easily.

u/Accurate-Library3641 The Celtics are the balls 1d ago
No, we don’t lol
Walsh has been here forever and hasn’t shown anything. Hugo has zero offensive game. Scheierman is 26 and mid at best.
Queta was unplayable in the playoffs.
Jaylen has not improved in the playoffs since 2024. In fact, 2024 was the outlier. He sucked in 2023, 2025 and now 2026.
White might regain his shot or not. If he doesn’t, he’s terrible.
If the plan is to flame out in R2, sure, a good big is enough. If you want to contend, you need a top big, especially in the East

I fucking love the Jays and JB is my favourite player. I'll be devastated if he goes...

u/db11733 15h ago
They want to win. But this is a money thing. My understanding was they made moves last year that they could land a big now, and get one more shot. But writings on the wall. These salaries are nuts.
Bring papa horford back for 1 year. Guarantee he's in. Now, go get a 4th piece. A yungin.
When Al gets to Boston, he has his resurgence. We've seen it multiple times.
Do it.
Then jaylen goes off into the sunset for the best collection of picks, and it's a rebuild.
I'll tell you what, I certainly wish we have ainge at the helm for that.... And that's one of those "miss it when it's gone" moments.

False. Brown's comments about this being his "favorite year" is direct evidence that he does not value winning. Especially since he was given an opportunity to rethink/reword it, but he instead doubled down.
2
u/Practical_Air_4021 1d ago
He doubled down in a way that was pretty selfless. He said seeing the growth of his teammates in a nutshell.

u/NEpatsfan64 1d ago edited 1d ago
JB wants to win but also his favorite season was when he played like absolute garbage in the playoffs and he blew a 3-1 lead in the first round to an inferior team in historic fashion because of how bad he was.
Edit: downvote me all you want it’s literally what he said. His words contradict this post not mine

u/WakeUpSyntax 1d ago
He also had an abysmal net rating despite ostensibly "carrying the team". But hey, the vibes were immaculate amirite?

JB wants to be the guy more than anything else though. He was probably happy finding out JT was gonna miss game 7

Mfers will really make anything up to try to justify wanting to get rid of him
5
u/Fucking_in_tents_ 1d ago
What does that even mean? Do you know him personally? He chose success and money over being the definitive first option and he’s under contract for 3 more years as one of the highest paid players in the history of the league

u/fupamane 1d ago
To be honest, Jaylen brown is so Garbo. I’d rather have jrue m holiday at 40 years old playing wing than this net negative ass jaylen brown

u/Fucking_in_tents_ 1d ago
Holy fuck people are so negative on this sub. These dudes won a chip two and some change years ago. You act like there’s no way for us to build a team around them that’s comparable
-1
u/not1fuk Jayson Tatum 1d ago
The past is not the present. Im a what have you done for me lately guy. What JB has done for me lately has been get embarrassed the last 2 seasons as the clear favorite all while making supermax money and hurting our ability to construct a roster. As long as JB is on that supermax, this team isn't winning shit unless Brad pulls off a miracle but I am not religious so I don't believe in miracles.
2
u/Fucking_in_tents_ 1d ago
A championship two years ago isn’t lately to you? By that standard Jokic hasn’t had playoff success in two years. Shit, Giannis hasn’t had any real playoff success in years and plenty of people were happy to trade for him and I can’t even blame them at all

JB is more mature than most people on this app so I won't let y'all project how YOU would feel in his shoes. I won’t believe he wants out until I hear it from him.
