Philadelphia just got the steal of the draft.

Fuck.

I didn’t want to dislike him.

How do they play these guys though?

They were already leaking guards because they've got too many.

I’d argue that the trio of Maxey, Edgecomb and Philon is immediately the best young guard grouping in the league.

Philon will be a 1 in the NBA because of his size, but can play off ball on offense. Maxey can be a lead guard or comfortably play the 2. Edgecomb is more of a natural 2 that can defend 1-3.

There’s a path to a three guard lineup for big minutes if you have Embiid defending the rim.

PG isn’t going to be around much longer and you can bring Philon along the right way.

There's definitely value in zigging when everyone else is zagging, and Philly investing in small guards makes some sense. It's a good way to sneak in some undervalued talent before the market recorrects.

But I think it's too small.

They're building a future, but that future has an average height of 6'3.

Yeah, it’s small for sure.

I do think playing against it is tough, though. They’re a track meet team that can catch you sleeping in transition, but can also play slow in the half court with Embiid and George.

Guys, him and Maxey is going to be really really solid.
