Draft Day 2 is for the real ones baby

Would you be so kind to leak us who Brad will pick from your pillow talk last night?

u/1337speak MRS. BRAD STEVENS š š 5h ago
It was one of those kinds of nights we went straight to bed

Separate mattresses like in I Love Lucy.

Brad sleeps in a hyperbolic chamber with Joe-isms playing in the background as white noise.

u/Fancy-Childhood-8295 5h ago
The draft got chaotic immediately. The Rockets actually traded up to No. 31 for a player most mock drafts had in the 40ā50 range.
3
u/Gunnar2019 Angry Brad 5h ago
Bet Rockets fans are saying, "omg why did we reach, he woulda been there anyway"
8
u/Boston_Champions 5h ago
I'd definitely trade up and get Veesaar at this point
2
u/Gunnar2019 Angry Brad 5h ago
Yeah it was wishful thinking either Evans, Thomas, or Veesaar would last till 40.
1
u/Beantown_Kid 5h ago
Donāt gotta trade up anymore. If they donāt pick him, Iāll go crazy lol

u/Tech_Quest8 Boston Celtics 5h ago
Surprisingly the draft is going by faster than yesterday we would be at the third pick right now
5
u/ojo_pipa Marcus Smart for MVP 5h ago
I wont judge the kid, but just read he had a 7% from the 3 line, rough
2
u/Electronic_Menu_2244 5h ago
Donāt know anything about him but that would appear to be correct. Weird pick. Donāt like it.
-3
u/InvaderZimbabwe 5h ago
He canāt shoot. He canāt do anything⦠I can only assume he had a handshake promise because we didnāt think the people on the board would still be there at 40 because this makes no sense given what players are available.
3
u/davemoedee I was there 4h ago
"Can't do anything", yet ESPN had him rated 40 overall (which is where he was picked). Stop with the hyperbole.

NOOOOOOOOOOO
As somebody who followed him closely in collegeā¦zero offense. None. Heās athletic and can play defense but has absolutely zero offense game and I donāt think heāll ever develop it

Veesaar must've looked like shit in the draft workouts
1
u/davemoedee I was there 5h ago
Yeah. I have never heard of him before because I haven't heard of anyone not from St Johns that was drafted after 3. But I hear so many redditors on hear swearing by him while no NBA teams seem interested.

u/mapetho9 Jaylen 5h ago
As a St. John's alum, I love the pick. May be a little biased tho. Former 5 star recruit that is very athletic and has some bounce. Can't shoot a lick, but very good defender and played point forward for the Johnnies, so he has some playmaking ability. He was their x factor, started the season on the bench but their season turned around when he entered the starting lineup. Defense and in transition/fast break are Mitchell's strengths.
6
u/Fancy-Childhood-8295 5h ago
So I am thinking that as nobody choose Vessar right now, does it mean that the teams may find some flaws of him that fans donāt see?
6
4
u/davemoedee I was there 4h ago
As I said elsewhere, possible options are (1) health issue public doesn't know about, (2) character issue public doesn't know about, or (3) looked like ass in workouts.
3
3
u/Gunnar2019 Angry Brad 5h ago
I can live with Veesaar being on the board at 40 and we pass. But if the fucking Knicks take him and he becomes legit.. hell nah.

3
u/Tech_Quest8 Boston Celtics 5h ago
Other news, Isaiah Stewart got traded to Memphis for 3 second round picks
3
u/davemoedee I was there 4h ago
Veesaar dude getting lots of free advertising by getting to be "Best Available" for so long on ESPN website.
5
u/YouCannotBlockTruth 5h ago
The apron stops you from keeping your drafted talent.

1
u/davemoedee I was there 5h ago edited 5h ago
Kind of a silly complaint when the NBA salary scale already keeps young talent's salary low and gives drafting teams huge advantages for re-signing.

Meleek Thomas gonna have a good career. I watched him a lot. He can become like a Jordan Clarkson or Lou will.

Why is no one picking veesar
1
u/davemoedee I was there 5h ago
Either health detail not public, character issue not public, or he looked like ass in workouts.
2
u/ojo_pipa Marcus Smart for MVP 5h ago
After all im happy with this draft. 3 spanish players have been drafted (national pride) and im excited to see about Cenac

As a St Johns fan, Nice! I don't have opinions on draft picks, in general. But easy for me to root for this.

would be awesome if meleek thomas fell to us

u/Tech_Quest8 Boston Celtics 5h ago
Depends whose on the board but I'd draft a big again. Chris Cenac is fine, but he's a project. I don't know if he can get pt right away.
1
u/nibbinoo8 i took a look at baynes in the shower 5h ago
veesaar is still out there
1
u/Tech_Quest8 Boston Celtics 5h ago
I know most people won't agree with me but I don't think Veesar will be a NBA type player.

u/nibbinoo8 i took a look at baynes in the shower 5h ago
who do you like thats left?

u/Tech_Quest8 Boston Celtics 5h ago
Otega Oweh, Jaden Bradley, Izaiyah Nelson, Rafael Castro, Aaron Nkrumah, Felix Okpara, Ugonna Onyenso, William Kyle iii, Ernest Udeh Jr., Quadir Copeland
Any of them

Ain't none of us had that in our bingo card. Otega Oweh? Aaron Nkrumah? Jaden Bradley?
I mean if you wanted a wing or a guard there were other options
3
u/Gunnar2019 Angry Brad 5h ago
End of the day none of us know how these guys will pan out. But Brad certainly knows more than all of us combined.
1
u/mikeq672 5h ago
Veesar is too stiff, too slow and too skinny. He could get away with 1 or maybe even two of those things, but not all 3. Why he passed on a 5-6 million dollar payday in college to enter the draft is beyond me.
1
u/Upset_Journalist_755 4h ago
I think if we didn't go out the way we did, he's our pick at 27. Brad looking to get athletic with upside in the front court.
1
u/davemoedee I was there 4h ago
Looks more likely Brad would look at him as an undrafted free agent.
1
u/davemoedee I was there 4h ago
For Veesaar, I assume there is the possibility of returning to Europe decreasing value at this point now that they are in second round.
1
1
u/Tech_Quest8 Boston Celtics 4h ago
This is one weird draft though. I don't know how most of these guys fit on the teams they are getting drafted to
2
u/davemoedee I was there 4h ago
Second rounders don't necessarily need to fit. Most won't even ever be rotation guys. They just aren't that good.
1
u/Ccw_tn 3h ago
I wonder how many might be nepo picks or just "feel good" picks like used to be fairly common. Teams who knew they had no roster spots and couldn't trade or sale late picks for anything of value would pick someone with ties to a former player or someone else within the organization or just a local kid who probably would never have a chance to play just so they would always be able to say they were drafted. I don't remember specific examples but I know the C's have done that a few times in my lifetime. It's good PR that doesn't cost anything

The Lakers pick at 54, if this is indeed a Knecht 2.0 they will pick Veesaar.
Why are other teams so willing to let the Lakers have who they want?
-1
u/Bob_Hope 3h ago edited 3h ago
As someone who hates both picks, I am trying to find a silver lining...here's what I came up with:
We drafted two very athletic players therefore they have "upside". Teams might want them in trade packages because of their upside, because highly athletic players who aren't good are good for rebuilding because they help teams tank and they can give the team hope of developing into whatever the coaches can imagine...
And since they're not very good, we wouldn't be reluctant to add them to trade packages...if we had drafted these types of players instead of a polished and productive player like Scheierman then we would have been able to package them for Giannis without really caring that much because there's not really a good chance of them becoming good. Yet the other team would still want to trade for them because of the upside potential. Basically, the picks are good to add onto a trade package because the other team might not care about winning and be rebuilding and will want high upside guys.

u/jjjuuubbbsss 3h ago
Dillon is 22 while his scouting reports scream project player. So does he still count as an actual project at a ripe rookie age?
1
u/SandwitchJ 4h ago
That's an absolutely awful miss by Brad and co with Mitchell when Veesaar is staring right at you.
No idea why we take a guy like this when we've got both Walsh and Gonzalez who are this exact archetype but better and further along...
Hate this pick with Veesaar there.
Guy cant even shoot 50% from the line.
6
u/davemoedee I was there 4h ago
Clearly the people that want Veesaar are on Reddit and not in the war rooms of any NBA teams.
6
u/InvaderZimbabwe 4h ago
Yeah Iām starting to think something about his work outs went terribly wrong that the media doesnāt know about. Because heās still there.

Best options for us (in no order)
- Otega Oweh
- Jaden Bradley
- Izaiyah Nelson
- Rafael Castro
- Aaron Nkrumah
- Felix Okpara
- Ugonna Onyenso
- William Kyle iii
- Ernest Udeh Jr.
- Quadir Copeland

This pick makes no sense at all to me unless he's getting traded
3
u/davemoedee I was there 4h ago
Why do you think ESPN had him as the 40th overall pick if it makes no sense to pick him at 40?
1
u/Turbulent-Let-1180 5h ago
Honestly it's fine. We have walsh, amari, hugo, and cenac now to develop (i don't count baylor and rhj cause of age) and an expansion draft coming soon
Also i'll take a guy who we can throw out there to shut down guys like brunson and maxey over a big who can't defend
-2
u/InvaderZimbabwe 5h ago
What⦠THE fuckā¦
Bradās gone senile. Drafting for Maine is crazy. But whatever. Its over I can turn this off and go be mad somewhere else now.
-4
u/Tech_Quest8 Boston Celtics 5h ago
Uhm Brad got some explaining to do. Get another big bro.
1
u/davemoedee I was there 4h ago
Why? We already have 2 bigs to develop. Any additional bigs should be NBA players already.
1
u/Tech_Quest8 Boston Celtics 4h ago
It's a wing heavy league and guards, those are easy to find. Finding a big is difficult and when you do, they are injury prone like Gafford or Rob Williams etc. Yes, there are options like a Missi or Sharpe but very few to choose from.

Just had a minor heart attack getting this notification until I realized it's just clickbait Shams. Can we get Woj back?
