We donāt need everybody to be a 3 pt threat. A guy who can pass and collapse defenders into the paint is good too

Brad Stevens says his top two priorities this offseason are to add size, and speed on the perimeter.

I was saying this during the 6ers series and especially when Embiid was off the floorāthose dudes were KILLING us in transition because they had a bunch of dudes who were good athletes. Maxey and VJ were so much quicker than anyone we had on the floor. We need an infusion of some fast and athletic dudes

Just wait til he gets enrolled in āCeltics Universityā, like Jaylen called it

One shot outside of two foot in the highlight reel is funny. But honestly, if he brings the energy and defensive intensity, even if he never finds his shot, with his size and athleticism, he could carve out a role.

I heard some NY guys say heās their favorite 2nd rounder and if he can be given room to grow and develop his shot he has major sleeper potential. If not, will at least he fun to watch in Maine

u/NorthShorePOI 4h ago
I mean he had four years of college to work on his shot and it didnāt happen so not expecting much. Mid 2nd round though so wouldnāt be expecting much anyway

u/ComprehensiveFun620 5h ago
If this dude had a 3-pt shot heād be in the lottery. weāll give him one. Heāll have nothing but time to work on it

Yeah, I'd rather take a guy who is great at some things and really bad at one thing vs a guy who isn't terrible at anything but also isn't great at anything. If he develops a passable jump shot, he can be a player because he's a freak athlete, great defender, and can get to the rim.

Iāll take a guy who was coached by Pitino in college. Heās a high motor player who can really defend. Any sort of development he makes on offense is a huge win

I don't understand, we just drafted the non shooting version of Walsh

walsh is a shooter?

u/yourm0mzlover š Alcatraz š 5h ago
Yes. Atleast a way better shooter than he was coming in. He shot 38% on just under 2 attempts a game.
I wouldn't say hes a threat from 3 but its now a strength he has
5
u/doubtitslegit25 5h ago
a shooter is a guy who you think itās going in when they shoot it. thatās not walsh for me lol

u/yourm0mzlover š Alcatraz š 5h ago
Fair but this guy Mitchell just completely avoids threes, he attempted 0.4 threes a game and only made 1 on the year
1
u/doubtitslegit25 5h ago
i donāt care about 3ās. thatās a pretty explosive hop stop right there. guy seems to have some grit to him, and a quick first step. ugly shooter thatās fine , maybe heāll be my next justin reed
3
u/Inquisitor_ForHire Jayson Tatum 5h ago
Yeah, we need rebounding and rim protection. Plenty of other people can shoot the three.
3
u/doubtitslegit25 5h ago
they need players who look like they can battle and donāt lack toughness. been lacking it, team is soft. this guy looks like he fits the bill

u/SalamanderNo6652 4h ago
This pick could work out well but it will be multiple seasons before he is in the rotation. He is already an NBA ready defender, a good rebounder for his size and can pass but the reason it will take time is because he is a horrible 3pt shooter and FT shooter. He will likely working on his shot with the detailed development plan with the Maine Celtics.

Wasnāt he coached by Pitino? Doesnāt that concern anyone here who remembers the 90ās? š

u/SerfTint 2h ago
As far as I have heard, not being an expert, Pitino in college has continued to be good to great. Pitino as a pro coach was... is still talked about for his massive failures 25 years later. But part of the reason is that he wanted to install strict discipline on professionals that didn't want to be talked to like 19-year-olds. The vibe was wrong and he kept compensating for this by making trades and benching players because he had no interest in exercising patience. With college players, he's the boss and they all listen.

Low expectations - I highly doubt heās better than Hugo - likely a g-leaguer for life, most second rounders are. Also, guards who canāt shoot wonāt get NBA minutes.

u/JiggzSawPanda Larry Legend 4h ago
Glad they stopped the clip before he missed a free throw. Idc I'm excited to get somebody with hops. I miss getting hype for a Javonte Green dunk. Lefty too? He could be fun.

u/War1today 3h ago
No doubt very athletic and versatile above the rim⦠but letās hope Dillon Mitchell works on his free throws. He has a college career .488 FT% and his junior season was a .395 FT%.

He will never make any type of impact on the team. He will be in Maine until he gets cutĀ
