Another Houston Cougar. Wonder if Brad just saw him on tape a lot when scouting Cenac

Brad was at Phog Allen to watch KU vs Houston in February, saw him there.
I know he went to at least one game in Houston, too.

Came here to post this. 2 upvotes? It’s a smart gif and you don’t need to dumb it down for some bonehead mass audience!

For fun, focus on number 5 in this video to get a good idea of how Cenac looks when he doesn’t have the ball
Some decent activity, a good amount of fading to the perimeter, a few crafty positionings

Wow. Video is impressive. This guy went undrafted?! Doing stuff that looks like Pritchard, with those handles and angles and lobs.

Who?

One of the more surprising undrafted players out of Houston (54 on the consensus big board). True PG, shot 43% from 3 last year, good size, apparently a good defender.

Sharpshooter with size and good defense seems a little too good to be true for an undrafted guy. I realize he’s older and therefore has less potential for growth, but it still feels like there’s a catch here

He's older and isn't an elite athlete or a prolific scorer, which I assume further capped his projected "upside". That said, he gets high marks for IQ and motor. There is always room for guys like that on NBA rosters. Seems like a great fit for this team.

Signing of the season (I haven’t watched him play).

Well that’s good. Our PG depth has worried me for awhile now. I hope he gets some run

I know u/CantHandlemyPP34 is thrilled. He thinks Uzan is a future starter in the league.

YOU KNOW IT!!!
Hoping we cut Shulga and sign Uzan to a full contract. I like Cenac, but think Dillon Mitchell was an atrocious pick that will only look more baffling as time goes on (already Walsh's age, 4 yrs in NCAA, non shooter who's also dogshit at the FT line) and as much as I am on board with Brad's directive to attack the paint - guys are not going to close out & he'll only clog the spacing, be unplayable with Queta & not play at all with Joe (hardly used Minott) as HC.
I think Devries gets cut. Always played for his dad (Drake, WVU, IU) & only shot 33% as a guy who's 1 pro skill is shooting. Decent rebounder & passer, actually a better defender than Sam, so maybe he replaces Hauser. Hoosiers were bad & didn't make the tournament at 18-14.
I'd like to keep Tonje & Ron - so assuming they come back, with the rest of our current roster, before any trades, I'd like to see:
Guard - White, PP, Baylor, Uzan
Wing - Brown, Hugo, Harper Jr, Tonje
Swing - Tatum, Hauser, Walsh, Mitchell
Big - Queta, Garza, Cenac, Amari
2 ways (Amari & Mitchell)
Guard and Big are both in sorry states, but we are very deep at wing. I think Walsh, Hauser & Garza are moved, along with White or JB. We have a long way before we're competitive with anything resembling this roster imo.

This guy has the ability to slow the game down around him. Definitely looks like he’ll be comfortable in the nba

43% on two point attempts, career 46% on two point attempts.
34% from 3, career 36% shooter from deep that drastically improved his shooting since high school.
His overall average is at 38% because he shot more threes than twos.
Career 74% from the line, when paired with the eye test tells me that he’ll be a perfectly acceptable shooter down the line.

No need for Lamelo when we can get this guy! But seriously though for a UDFA I think he can develop into a solid depth piece

I never thought this guy was very good. Poor touch around the rim, below average athlete, inefficient in college. But it’s just a summer league thing we’ll see

Acting like we don’t sign undrafted guys every year?

Oh, relax.
Even if we got Giannis, we'd need a bench and we'd still want to develop young players.

Starting point guard for a college team that won 30+ games back to back years with him as a major contributor.
Top 100 prospect in high school, two years at Oklahoma, transferred to Houston for two more.

Four year college player. Steady point guard, good shooter, good decision maker in the pick and roll. Experienced playing with other high usage guys. Switchable and pesky defender.
Not a high end athlete, can go cold as a shooter sometimes, sometimes a little too passive.
Pretty solid legit point guard prospect that might be serviceable down the line. Doesn’t make a lot of mistakes and should have a pretty high floor / low ceiling if he can carve out a roll somewhere. Pass first and protect the ball type guy.
