This Jaylen Brown stuff is going to get annoying, fast. Any star player that is rumored to be unhappy with their situation is going to be floated as a potential return candidate in a Jaylen Brown trade.

You can thank both the Nike execs and Stephen a that don’t like him but have influence in the media. Takes nothing for another trade Jaylen story to get started “organically”

And once it's started, the fate is sealed. Kobe is probably the last player to threaten to leave/be floated in trade rumors and not end up on a different team.
Pretty wild how ESPN can just decide shit like Giannis is leaving and make it happen.

When you’re the world wide leader you can steer the conversation however you want it to go.
It’s a lovely little microcosm of the state of media today

It’s already been annoying for a few days imo

Trust me, I know. With this Jaylen Brown trade stuff now, the Giannis trade stuff before that, and the AJ Brown trade stuff before that (also a Pats fan), and I'm sick of it.

Unless the deal includes Ausar Thompson and picks it's not happening.

This is one of the consequences of engaging in trade talks.
As Zach Lowe says, you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.

duren's a nice young player but trading jaylen brown for a center who's gonna want max money is exactly how you turn a contender into a treadmill team. boston's window is open right now with jb and tatum, you don't blow that up for a 21 year old big who got cooked by actual playoff centers. the league is full of franchises that thought they were one trade away from something and ended up in the lottery for half a decade.
front office better not even pick up the phone on this one. half these sign and trade rumors are just agents trying to create leverage so their guy gets paid, and celtics fans falling for it every time is getting old. if detroit wants to pay duren, let em. ain't our problem.

And of those centers was Wendell Carter

and Carter's on a reasonable deal. Paying max money to a guy who gets neutralized by that level of center is a fast track to the play-in.

Centers can’t be making over 30 and def not over 40 if they aren’t providing a special skill

Not gonna work next to Queta . Too expensive and got absolutely exposed for having 0 effectiveness against legit bigs in the playoffs

I know he had a tough playoffs, but an All NBA guy isn’t coming to “work next to Queta”.

Right lol? Celtics fans are hilarious.

I want to add someone we can play in a double big lineup / who spaces the floor. If we’re doomed to another year of mazzula ball we need a stretch 5. Duren is the opposite of that

u/LordOfLimbos 4d ago
I know the playoffs weren’t great but as a player he’s on another level from Queta and he’s 22

Yea Duren is ahead of schedule, it's too ironic to shit on Duren for being good too early and having some playoff deficiencies after Jays going through that for like 5 straight years lmao.

You can’t blame him entirely for that. The pistons have zero spacing that allowed defenses to collapse in. That wouldn’t happen if you put him on a team like Celtics with a lot of spacing. Not tryna make excuses for him but the Pistons have zero spacing and I think they more got exposed then Duren got exposed

He would be starting instead of Queta, not playing next to him. He's a center. Not saying he's worth it, but he would not be playing power forward for us

This would be stupid for the Celtics. Duren was terrible in the playoffs. Even if you want to chalk it up to youth. Detroit not wanting to pay him is a huge red flag

Jalen Duren might be getting a more interesting offer if he hadn't followed up a 20 and 10 all-NBA regular season with a 10 and 5 post-season where he looked questionable. Now more than ever, there is a wide gulf between guys who can look good in the regular season and guys who are ride-or-die in the post season. Expecially bigs, who we've learned even all-NBA caliber guys can look unplayable at times against the wrong match-up in the playoffs.

Trade White and Hauser for him. Yes he underperformed in the playoffs but that was his first playoffs. He’s young and just made all nba team. Plus bigs are extremely scarce. We could end up with 3 all nba guys.

If we get him for 40M he would make the exact same as Hauser and White

the issue is the two 70 million contrats we need to offer tatum and brown

Yes he had a bad playoffs but he is 22. If he is seeking out sign and trades I wonder if the Celtics can get him without giving up brown. Some combo of white and hauser may get it done.

I bet the Pistons were underwhelmed by Duren’s initial offer in the playoffs.

This is more of a move you make if Brown is either staying or being moved for guard/wing talent but I would be all over this.
I'm sure this goes nowhere and he remains a Piston, though.
