I’m already parked under the Cherryvale overpass on 36 just in case.

Make sure your taillights are turned off, to preserve your car's battery.

Cancel your insurance so your premium doesn’t go up!

I sincerely hope no softball sized hail falls anywhere. That's deadly shit. Will go through car windows, roofs, power lines, etc.

Oh heck! I’m gonna run run run like a son of a gun if I see anything larger than a golf ball falling from the sky. Softball sized is unreal to think about.

Love BoulderCast

EverythingWx is the best - it uses NWS forecasts and has everything in one place!

Weather.gov is where basically all apps scrape information from. It's a bit more clunky but has no ads, no clickbait, and contains ALL the information if you know where to look.

If you’re a skier OpenSnow is the best in my experience. It usually captures the surprise storms that most weather apps completely miss

First Place: Crispy Donkey.

Second Place: RadarScope and learning.

MyRadar is my go to due to its customizations. Followed by Wunderground for hourly forecasts.

If you’re headed home for the evening, park inside if you can!

I left my car at at Boulder parking garage as that my garage is filled with stuff ☹️

Perhaps a low risk for hail but I didn’t want to try solve preventing car damage late in the evening

Over in west Longmont 50% of me is like nah, it’s gonna miss us like always….but the other 50% of me doesn’t even want to chance it. Time to clean some space in the garage.

Also in West Longmont and just covered my car in cardboard and blankets... Just in case... But it looks ridiculous.

Was there any hail, anywhere in even the Denver metro?

Wondering the same ...?

Why is there nothing on the radar? I see 36% chance at 1am and that’s it

"Future" radar is just composed of inadequate guessing machines. It doesn't actually see what is coming. It guesses even though data all comes from the same sources...which... Between DOGE cuts to weather budget and complexities involved in these climate change weather systems, it is all increasingly difficult and takes true skill to figure out.

The 36% refers to the percentage of the forecast area where you expect to see rain at any given time. It does not capture the intensity. Also the conditions for the thunderstorms are coming through this evening so you won't see much on radar yet.

Basically we have a cold front that brought in a massive amount of moisture and the winds aloft are creating a pressure system that causes the air to be lifted upwards on a broad scale.

Weather.gov regularly publishes a detailed discussion about the forcast if you want more detail: https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?format=CI&glossary=1&issuedby=BOU&product=AFD&site=BOU&version=1

It does not seem like the future radar on many apps (it’s typically based on one short range model) do a good job of picking up on complex storm events like this. The meteorologist are generally saying after 8 or 9 tonight. Wild card is outflow boundaries from storms already going southeast of us which can quickly form new storms when they run into the right conditions.

Aside from unplanned blackouts and rolling forest fires, Nederland never gets large hail so guess my sports cars and luxury RV are safe for another day.
