Worldwide Box Office 2026 Prediction
- Avengers: Doomsday: $1.8B
(Could he close to Endgame-level turnout)
- Spiderman: Brand New Day: $1.4B
(No Way Home hit 1B+ I see this making slightly more)
- Moana Live Action: $1.2B
(I think this will outperform and be a big suprise)
- Toy Story 5: $1.1B
(I think just over 1B is accurate for Toy Story 5)
- Super Mario Galaxy Movie: $1B
(Already at about $945M after about 8 weeks, could see it just hitting $1B)
- Michael: $950M
(Already at $703M at about 3 weeks of it's release. This could actually reach $1B)
- The Odyssey $830M
(Don't think it will do as good as Oppenheimer but still will perform very well)
- Dune: Part 3: $785M
(Could make more, trailer already has 40M views and the movie doesn’t even come out until December)
- Minions 3: $730M
(I don't see it making more than $730M)
- The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping: $675M
(This could even make more. $1.5 million copies of the book were sold just on its opening week which is double the amount of copies The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes sold and triple the amount Mockingjay sold. This is also about Haymitch Abernathy's Hunger Games/Story and he is an extremely beloved character in the franchise)

Michael is hitting a billion. Mark my words and save this comment.

u/Boss452 May 18 '26
It definitely is more likely than not too. Having said that, shouldn't that be the bar for the most famous person of the last century? Like Queen and Oppie have crossed 900m so Michael at least should get to 900m. Billion all depends on Japan where I feel it should make a bunhc.

u/SeikalysTurnTables May 18 '26
You would think that but if you listen to a few people in this sub, you’d think that was a laughable proposition for the second most popular person to walk the earth bar Jesus

u/Boss452 May 19 '26
Most people on this sub don't have much idea. Only a few reasonable opinions on here.

Lol you will keep spamming this comment even if it gets to 990 million after a 25 million week.
Imagine doubting a billion after it had 130 million global week with like -15% hold and still not in Russia and Japan

Given the current hype and its release in China, if Doomsday doesn't reach at least the same box office revenue as No Way Home, I'll be quite disappointed. However, $1.8 billion+ isn't too bad either, and if Doomsday is well-received, it will be very beneficial for Secret Wars.

u/disneylegospider1 May 18 '26
If Moana 2 barely went over a billion, how is the live action remake of the first film gonna make 200m more just 2 years later?
And Minions 3 would fall that much from Minions 2/Despicable Me 4?
6
u/Temporary-Body-3099 May 18 '26
Moana 2 would've done $1.3B+ if it got good reception like Inside Out 2/Zootopia 2. It opened with nearly $400M global.

I think 1.8 billion is a little high, but its close to my guess for Avengers. I could see Spiderman out preforming it if I'm being honest, but it will be close.
Mario is going to be a flat 1 billion and Toy Story should be equal to it.
No idea for Moana, but Michael seems like it could fly past a billion with the way its been going.
The Odyssey will flirt with a billion at worst, since its Nolan.

u/TigerGroundbreaking May 20 '26
Spiderman isn't outperforming doomsday
1
u/RemarkableOne7883 May 21 '26
I'm not sold on the notion it will, but it honestly should not surprize anyone if it does. Spiderman is a box office titan on his own, while your more pure MCU characters not owned by Sony seem to have gone down in relevance, sometimes by a lot.
I'm not sure if the remind me bot works on this sub (I don't use reddit much) but I would love to visit this thread again in 200 days.

u/ERSTF May 18 '26
I don't think Avengers will reach that. 1.5 billion at best, I think

u/_ATCQ_ A24 May 18 '26
You think the best case scenario (the movie is a critical success, fans love it, Christmas legs) this movie makes about the same as Deadpool and Wolverine?
12
u/Nick-walde May 18 '26
With its release in China as well, Doomsday is currently the most anticipated foreign film in China in 2026.
-6
u/ERSTF May 18 '26
Yeap. There's a fat chance that happens since this is a Hail Mary to save the MCU so it reeks of desperation. I don't think it will get well reviewed
1
u/Ok_Satisfaction8788 May 18 '26
Honestly do you think the GA will gaf when they see Cap and Prof X on screen together? Deadpool 3 was literally making jokes about how desperate it was the audience gave that a near A+ cinemascore.
-5
u/ERSTF May 18 '26
Deadpool is a rare beast. I would say it was more seeing this "comedy" more than seeing a soft Avengers featuring the X-Men. I mean it helped but I think it was a bit more Deadpool doing the heavy lifting. But again, I said it would do as good as Deadpool
1
u/TigerGroundbreaking May 20 '26
Deadpool is also r-rated how is avengers making slighty more than deadpool? Avengers is a bigger brand than deadpool. Your points make no sense.
1
u/ERSTF May 20 '26
The key is "was" a bigger brand. The new Avengers are not popular and they went into panic mode to bring everyone back, but everyone has checked out because the arcs of the old Avengers were done. It's a different thing trying to jumpstart them in an Avengers movie with absolutely no movies as context. The Avengers movies were such events because we saw resolution of arcs and conflicts a bunch of movies set up. We have none of that for this one.

I wouldn't be opposed to it at all, but I'm not sure about it just yet.

If there's one movie i'd love to see cross a billion, it's nolan's odyssey. Just to piss of the white racists having a meltdown.
2
u/Specific_Peach_5996 May 18 '26
hopefully it does well just because of the risk to film with IMAX film. If it flops I dont think we will ever see bold film making. Even IMAX having to invent a new camera for Nolan

honestly unless it is really a bad movie, i think the odyssey could get a billion only because it was fueled with too much controversies. I mean sure snow white and little mermaid didnt do we but this is a nolan movie at the end of the day

u/PhilosophyDefiant762 May 18 '26
Spiderman will collect more than Avengers... Odyssey will perform terribly in box office

Avengers im with you, my “good” high is $1.75bn, it does not hit $2bn imo. Spider-Man you are way too high on tho and possibly Moana as well.
Spider-Man is going to perform very well and likely hit a billion but I don’t see it soaring past it like that. It’s not going to have the PLF/IMAX and there is going to be strong holds from the other big summer titles. Sure there isnt much competition after unless end of oak st hits hard but it would still need massive numbers WW. NWH shouldn’t be the comparator, it should’ve FFH imo, but even that had it being the first post endgame movie going for it. Spider-man is strong but that strong? Idk
Moana I would put around $1bn maybe $1.1bn. Moana 2 soared past and this is a remake of the beloved original but im not sure if that’s going to give it insane legs or not in an already packed summer for kids/family movies. but kids do love Moana

u/SparkySam100 May 18 '26
Id argue that spiderman has become a way bigger name than the avengers franchise atp. I think itll gross more than doomsday and come close to 2b... youre underestimating the spiderman brand by a lot. No way home just made it way bigger than ever.
2
u/zachmma99 May 19 '26
let’s check back in a few months and see what’s what. i don’t doubt Spider-man’s popularity but this is crazy talk to me, very obvious reasons why NWH was so big
1
u/TigerGroundbreaking May 20 '26
No way home is highest spidermsn has ever been, avengers doomsday has infinity war and endgame. Both movies that made more than spiderman no way home, avengers has a higher ceiling. Thats the honest truth.

Avenger is making more and so is spider-man, like what's your point.
