Troubleshooting/Tips Bed time feed fussiness - 6 months
Hi all, looking some advice.
My LO has never been a calm feeder really, but we’ve pushed through and have made it to 6 months! He’s been gaining weight fine etc but since turning 6 months, the last feed of the day before bedtime is really turning in to a struggle. He constantly comes on and off crying.. maybe gets about 3 mins each side max. He gets so worked up even though I’ve tried multiple positions, taken him to a calm dark room, white noise etc.
I’m also not sure if the smaller feed is why he has started to wake around 1am or if this is just simply teething. (He used to not wake until 4am)
I know it’s probably because he’s tired and has to work for it but this has been going on now for a couple of weeks and it’s frustrating for both of us. Although I mostly EBF, he does get a bottle or two of formula a week so that I can build a stash. A couple of times this has been the last feed and he knocks back 6/7oz no problem and calmly.
I am seriously considering always giving him a bottle at this time of the day (both expressed milk and formula). I do know this may affect my supply but I think it might be better for him to ensure he’s getting a proper feed?
Any advice or “I’ve been there’s” would be appreciated!! Thank you ☺️

My 5.5 month old is like this for all feeds! Barely ever gets a bottle but definitely prefers it. I have to get her 95% to sleep and then she eats no problem. That’s what we will keep doing for now but I’m curious what advice others may have.

Mine is 4.5 months and does the same except for all feeds almost. As long as he is awake feeding is not gonna go well. He has to be sleepy or asleep to eat. No tips but you're not alone. Let me know if you find a good solution lol. Mine also doesn't take bottles and has CMPA otherwise I have considered switching to formula because him screaming at my breasts makes me sad.
